Recommended mechs for people who hate or don't know how to torso twist to shield or disperse damage: Cataphracts, Catapults, and Stalkers.

The thing is right now the only reason to get one is for having an AC20 in the arm going 100kph. There's really nothing else worth putting there.

So far I have not seen a hero mech that is much better than the regular ones. a littel c-bill boost is kinda meh. Better just to play a few matches more to get more c-bills.

2 more energy on the arm would bring to a top tier 'mech. I'd argue even 1 energy on the arm could make a difference, to run arm-mounted Gauss/PPC models.

That said I'm also hugely in favor of adding ECM to the Death's Knell. Given it's 10 tons lighter than the other ECM 'mechs I sure wouldn't call P2W on that. It needs it.

What a cool idea. I never considered one that fast. Maybe there is viability after all, just in a much different way than people are used to playing Cents. It sounds almost like a heavy cicada at that point. Cool!

That said, a CN9D is far better at the role (with a Gauss).

Get a Cent D if you want to play a fast Cent. They're good, very good: Top tier fast 'mechs. The YLW was largely outdated by the D.

Here's the subjective part, though. Fact is, anyone who can play a YLW 'right' can do a better job with a better mech, like a hunchback, that trebuchet with the ballistic slots, or, the other centurion variants. The YLW is a pretty badly-designed mech. It has less hardpoints than others of the same variant, and has 2 ballistic points in the arm, where an AC/20 is typically mounted. One guy mentioned putting a gauss on the YLW, but, you know who else can mount a gauss in a relatively fast mech? 2 out of the other 3 cent variants. I'm all about preventing Pay 2 Win, but, at the same time, PGI would do well to make sure people get their money's worth.

I suppose. I just have a really big hard on for AC20s tbh and the YLW is the only Cent that can run one. The YLW is hardly a bad mech, it just kinda comes down to your playstyle I think.

Oh, I've got one and it's even camo'd up to look like Sonic The Hedgehog because gottagofast.jpg. I <3 all the Centurions equally for different reasons.

To be honest, I'm a horrible player but I've gotten as many as 3 kills and 500 damage in a pug match. If I can do that then the Wang has got to have something going for it. A good player should be able to do much better.

With the current missile dmg (SRM) id take a wang over any other med. The JJ Trebs are good to (esp. the 7M) if you want that extra agility or abuse the broken streaks

If they make any of the hero mechs "good", you end up toeing the line of pay to win.
I don't really disagree with this, and indeed when YLW was added I figured heroes would all be sort of gimpy like this. But for better or worse all of the later hero mechs were a lot better and more versatile, ranging from comparable to non-heroes like TDK to really uber like Flame/Ilya. And then there's the ones like HM and X5 that don't even have a stock mech to compare to. I don't entirely regret buying my wang since I did indeed know what I was getting but I can definitely understand many people having buyers' remorse because nobody knew at the time how heroes would be done in the future.

The Energy slots are in the CT because they are not meant to be the primary focus of the build. They also zombie really well being located there as opposed to a side torso location.

YLW, for as much as I love the look and over-all feel of the mech, is broken because it's missing one of it's key features.
I'm not responding to your comment, I'm just giving you a compliment on your signature. Nice.
