Release content to production without testing? You clearly have no clue concerning software development.

I don't mean having 100 people heavily test software before release to production. Some random testing done by yourself for 5-10 minutes is often sufficient with proper architecture. This is concerning minor changes. Complete infrastructure overhaul will sure require more effort. To you and everybody else, before telling me I have no clue in software development, please show a proof that you have more clue. A stackoverflow profile would be sufficient. Words do not work, sorry.

Challenge accepted. Google Neolisk first. Google your nickname. Make some research, then make conclusions. Doing a slight change in code and have customers gladly pay a lot of money for it is very rare but not uncommon. Here by a lot, I really mean a lot. Talking about insurance software, by far the most complicated and error prone out of any software type, perhaps maybe after aircraft guidance systems, space stations and similar. Another thing is that an error in an insurance software can be worth several millions of dollars, literally taken from people's accounts. Here you just get several people upset. Your turn, he-he. ;)

Okay, so you should know what you are talking about because you are a Microsoft-Certified Programmer and you run a tech blog about how to code in Visual Basic. And you write code for insurance companies. And you think that testing shouldn't be necessary, that the ultimate goal is to deploy into production without any testing at all.

If your attitude is representative, then I guess this would explain a lot of about the state of the financial services industry. Good luck to you.

  • It's a beta still, this is what participating in a beta implies, if you really feel this strongly about it I suggest you wait until MWO is out of beta.
  • Calm down.
  • I find the idea that fixing things is not a priority for PGI implausible and frankly, absurd.

1. Yes, it's a beta still.(officially) But there is NO PROGRESS in fixing bugs at all. These bugs are in this game for MONTHS with short periods of being fixed... So the lack of progress in terms of bug fixing shows me that the devs are not able to run even a (payed) beta.

2. People have spent a lot of money to support the devs. Lack of content - ok... Lack of communication - ok.... Lack of balancing, particularly weapons... ok... but not being able to fix bugs which are as old as the beta is... NOT OK. so i understand that people are raging... including myself.

3. Obviously it is NOT a priority for PGI to fix bugs. Otherwise they would have rolled back the last update to the last well running beta build and forgo their heavy metal sales event.

Because it's actually a vast improvement over the OP's multiple dead-horse "Let me turn off chat in this team-oriented game so my underage kids can grief other players through their ineptitude without having to read the predictable results of same" threads? ^_^

i wish i could accurately represent all of the issues from closed beta that you guys DON'T have to deal with.

i find these arguments that the developers "don't evar fix bugs evar!!11!!!!11!1" to be an absurd and complete denial of reality. go play river city when it first came out. back in those days you didn't want to touch any of the buildings because you had a 50/50 chance of being stuck for the rest of the match.

i would prefer they take their time and come up with a proper fix than slapping on a bandaid like every other MMO does. debugging is a process that has no real process. you poke things around the area that appears to be broken and hope that you find an answer. my brother described it best when he said "computer programming is the only place where you can fix the toaster and then have your car catch fire".

Greetings!

Welcome to KAETETôã

Home of the MODS

It is here that we Forge

Terrible threads into bad threads

Bad threads into good threads

And good threads into great threads.

If this thread is new to k-town it is

probably because it is terrible

worry not we are making it better already.

K-town does have 10 Commandments*

*10 for for now

We also have the Sacred Pages penned by the MODS themselves

And

The Gospel of the MODs written by Acolyte of the Word RoadBeer

Also

Enjoy the BATTLE HYMN OF THE MODS / POST LERIAN JIHAD WAR CHANT

Please review these so you too

Can post better and enjoy the blessings of the MODs

While avoiding being smote first

In the coming Digipocalyse.

Praise the MODS, Tremble before the ELDER MODS.

Also part of our family here is the

Post Lerian Jihad

“We Post better than you”

While their official home is now in Depe

Their mission of speaking truth to stupid

And civilizing not just the wilds

But all of the forums.

Enjoy your stay here in K-town
