While the April 2nd patch was pretty much an abomination, I understand that rollbacks are probably more trouble than they're worth, but come on guys. They accidentally released the vision modes early and then rolled those back in a hotfix. Let's not get it twisted. These are puerile reddit caliber responses.

edit: typography not so gud.

Mr Ekman, if I suckered up so many fans of a franchise in paying up dosh for a "promised" product, I'd be laughing all the way to the bank too ;)

It does look kinda bad though when in the scale of a year your company rolls out MC only additions 10x quicker than content or bug fixes, then complain about not having the right staff to fix it, or slow speed..
But who cares as long as suckers keep paying right? lol

This is by far the best post I've seen so far and right on target! Kudos for having the courage to state this so well.

They would have to roll back the game to closed beta for it to be fun and balanced again.

You played a different CB than I did. We went through a lot of unbalanced in the months of CB I participated in..

That's the problem with F2P betas.

If they rolled the patch back, it would mean all people who paid for the HM would be screwed over.

No. They would not get screwed. They would get their MC back. Till the patch is resent but working.
This is not a coding issue as much as Garth would like to believe it is. This is a failure to roll back a patch that should have been rolled back.
The ONLY reason it was not was because of the hero mech.
Do us a favor. When you add money content DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE.
That way you can keep making money and we can get real patches.

Because Coconut Monkey on your dash takes the same amount of time to release as a mech or to fix hard to find bugs. So many of you guys are so clueless. If you only knew how much work this all took, or how it was done... Well, then we wouldn't have to hear so much b!tching.

I think we can taken it as written that anything anyone states that isn't explicitly factual is an opinion. The "IMO" is implied until you start insulting people.

Edit: Holy ****, more errors. I need to each lunch or get a coffee or something.

An entirely fair response to a childish and unprofessional tweet like that. I get that the dudes at PGI probably feel under siege, and people make mistakes and get carried away (for example, I do this on the regular), but I don't think that his post was out of proportion to the subject.

!! and !
EVERY other game I play. If they have a patch as bad as the last we had and they can’t do a hotfix in 12-24 hours it’s rolled back. That’s what professionals do.

I think these guys forget this is a reflection on them more than it is on us. We would not be bring it up if we did not care. This game goes on their resume. I hope this game does not fail if they want to stay in this industry.

Lets not bring up the lack of professionalism it takes to mock the people who care enough to b!tch.

Why are we waiting to get all these HUD issues fixed?
Why is not important? PGI Knows this game is broken for a whole lot of people.
In any game type into chat (If you can) that you have no Bugs currently and you will be congratulated.
They game is badly broken for many people.
Sometimes it is just chat. Sometimes the HUD is fully gone mostly it is somewhere in between.

It needs to be addressed. having PGI just shut up and hope it gets fixed at their next scheduled update is unacceptable.

My premium time is running. I do not want to hear "Its beta". In a real beta they roll back and fix ****.

this is not beta anymore. Once they can not roll back changes due to the money they make with the changes they can no longer hide behind beta,

Actually, that doesn't happen.

I appreciate you're angry, but understand that, 'I'm having HUD problems' isn't a light-switch fix. There's no magical button, or line of code, that will 'fix' it. If we could fix it quickly, why wouldn't we? What possible scenario would have us cackling in glee as our game had an error?

As soon as we can, we will hotfix or patch the issue out.

OP you are just lucky Garth and his evil-ness has not done this to you!

He has that kind of power and would like nothing more than to see all of our screens look like that!

Yet you had plenty of time to patch in yet another MC sale.

As soon as you can you will patch "the" issue out?

WHAT ONE?

The artifacting?
The no mini map bug?
The no hud bug?
The black mini map bug?
The no IFF bug?
The Doritos bug?
The minimap that doesn't tell you where your legs are bug?
The no zoom/no changing vision modes bug?
The CTD bug?
The rubber banding from hell bug?
The white damage skin bug?

It would be easier to make a list of what you guys did not break.

Roll it back already.

Short answer to OP:

Division of labor. Different departments. Different people. Different jobs.

PGI actually has pretty damn fast turnaround. I remember playing Diablo II--a HUGE title--and bugs lasted for YEARS. Big ones, like a character not being able to cast certain abilities in certain parts of the screen. So, a few weeks, a few months even, with the size of staff PGI has is actually moving quite quickly.

Quick edited reply to the above: DIVISION OF LABOR. The MC sales guys DO NOT CODE. NOR DO YOU WANT THEM TO. Should they stop working? Should the design team just go on vacation until the bug-guys finish their work?

LEARN HOW DEVELOPMENT WORKS. Then start complaining about what comes when. Sheesh.

I understand how it works.
That is why I know that the proper response to a patch that borks the game of so many people should get rolled back.
I have been in more than a few "Real Betas".
A patch this bad would have been rolled back. Looked into, then patched. That is the way betas work.
As I stated. It would be better for us all if PGI were to rigorously separate money making patches from real patches.
That way when something screwed up the game they would not be torn between losing money and doing the right thing.

I want PGI to make money. I want them to have lots of money so I can have my game.
They need to make better decisions.

i for one love the game, yes it has some bugs which can annoy for 1 round out of about 20 in my case but big deal it will get sorted in time

On what planet would you consider this a fast fix rate?

PGI has produced a fun, well made game with tremendous potential, and they almost certainly face enormous pressure from their publisher to get the revenue stream up and running (hence all the paid content even as my HUD disappears and the MG and LB-10-X remain unusable), but this is not fast. They're a small shop, so I get it, but as "closed betas" go (as though that term means anything in the SaaS era), the rate is positively glacial.

Foolish. He loves the game, so he wants it to be stable to he can keep playing it. This post would be much more appropriate in a *** YOU PGI thread somewhere in K-Town.

I'm prolly just salty since the april 2nd patch caused massive frame rate drops even though I updated my drivers and re-installed, making it impossible to play right now. But it feels more like fast and cheap instead of fast and good on my end.

If they hated the game they/me/we would not bother waisting our time bringing this up.
Kinda like reaching 65 getting your social security and telling the government socisialisim is bad mmmkay.
Fanboys like you are the worst kind. Kinda like an abused spuse that uses the excuse "but he/she says they love me."
