Just like in MWO!

So you're saying MWO in open Beta has the same stability like a released game?

Awesome

If I keep moving it sooner or later you'll miss. My point was I feel companies like CAPCOM are way more Devious than companies like PGI. I bought Defiance this weekend to run around for a bit and after the $60.00 investment I had to put $5.00 in right away for a few more inventory slots. To make it even mor suckish you can't clear out the garbage inventory you start with.

Don't know if you tried this, but If you put in the ark codes you get 6 more slots free (plus other stuff). Also, you can't sell the starter items, but you can break them down in the salvage matrix. I'm sorry you had to lug that stuff around all this time, bud. Lastly, as you level up, your inventory gets additional slots.

Yet I payed for Defiance and its the released version. I knew I should have went with Bioshock or Tomb Raider.

Yeah, that was perhaps not the best decision.

In the end it costs as much as one, so I don't see the difference. The moment they stop holding weekly sales and gating content behind paywalls "beta" will stop meaning "please don't review us IGN, we're not ready yet" and little else.

Uh...not even close? Even going with just a single one, DoTA 2, not only has paid tournies, but then makes players pay to actually watch most of them.

Are you high? DOTA 2 has free private matches. They just charge for tournaments.

I'm talking about maybe me, three friends, a case of beer, and some LAN cables or something playing MW:O against each other, no PUGs. This was possible in every past Mechwarrior game, it's possible in every F2P game on the market.

In LoL I can play private. In WoT I can play private. In TF2 I can play private.

And if you make the argument like the last guy that LoL, WoT and TF2 somehow don't compete with MW:O in the F2P market, you're hilariously uninformed

Thank you for finally answering this Bryan.

I think your statement that the reporter was in the wrong is unfounded, however. The vast majority of his news blurb was direct quotation, and did not include speculation or the assertion that it was a certainty to happen.

I mean seriously, how hard is that? That's what PC gamers expect! Don't make my friends pay for premium just so we can setup a match to our liking rather than using the stupid matchmaking crap that none of us like in any form.

This. I know TF2 does this with great success. Now granted, I don't know the ramifications of PGI not running their own servers, as Valve uses the Steam DRM system, while PGI doesn't have any DRM system, and that may warrent PGI not wanting to let players run their own servers. Still, if there is a way to have players run them, this would be awesome.

That being said, I'm very happy with what I'm seeing. CW looks like it's going to be very exciting. And I'm sorry that people were actually sending threats to you. Expected or not, it's unnaceptable behavior, period.

In the end?

Well I guess that might be different for every out there, some will pay way more than for Defiance, some will pay nothing at all...

Still, Defiance wont work without paying up front...

Edit:

before going too far off topic, I blieve the most important line of the dev message is:

The fact that people are so free to except paying for private matches disturbs me. In what universe would it be okay for that? Is this your first time to the gaming beyond paying 60$ experience? Because that kind of way is paved with bad.

"A small one-time MC and/or CB fee to create a Merc Corp*."

I completely agree with this one!
I'm farming HUGE amount of Cbills and saving my MC to be ready!

Can't wait!!

I wasn't aware that tournies are not private matches.

WTG Brian.

Personally I dont see ANY P2W arguement holding water right now. Nothing you can get for only MC is better than what you can get with Cbills and Time.

Even Hero mechs are not better, they are just different. Most hero mecs actually struggle a bit for relevance against the current meta.

Even releasing the Heavy metal early I dont consider P2W. Its just a time advantage and time will tell if the other variants are worse, my thoughts are no they will be better.

Irrelevant, only the highest, top-tier DOTA tournies are paid entry.
If you wanted to host a DOTA tournament at your college, for example, you could do so at no cost (unless you wanted to charge for beer)

If I wanted to host a MWO trounament at my college, for example, I could do so at no cost (unless I didn't want to sync drop in 8v8 queues).

What? You have no guarantee of the sync drops working! Are you SERIOUSLY going to inconvenience your entire group of friends by dropping game after game, hoping to get the team comp you want? (without game breaking bugs or crashes)

That's what we currently do now....so yes?

Hell, with planet capping it could possibly be very easy to set up a drop where you attack a merc corp.

Still doesn't change the fact that you claimed that tournaments aren't private matches.

No...god...just...

What I'm saying is that when CW DOES drop (in other words, no more sync nonsense) I'd LIKE for PGI to make private matches free. Like every other game ever. Because I've spent $140+ on this game.

Am I insane? Is this not fair?

Yea the one thing I take from this is that I still need premium time to get the most out of CW AND be able to play in private matches for the myriad of private tournaments bound to exist for the competitive environment. The question is would the rewards from having a premium time out-weigh not having it or vica-versa... once again I ask for a command chair post detailing the system coming for CW, I'm not asking for nitty gritty which you want to do later but a list of all the systems and how they mesh to FORM CW. Until we know those basics then how can we hold any hope... after all this post is a week and a half overdue.

It is truley a shame and a a terrible reflection on the rest of the community that some would take this game so seriously as to make threats against people or send hate mail. The people that do this sort of thing strike me as the kind that are used to having everything their own way and have never truley been out in the real world. To them I say....."GROW UP!!!"

And to the Devs......keep up all the effort you are trying to put into this game and listen to the real community that cares about the success of the game and wants to see real growth. As for all this premium account stuff mention......ditch it all.......
