As always I am having a blast playing this game. Perhaps someone has already suggested this, but when I type something in the search box, it always tells me "no results". Regardless I would love to see an Atlas Hero Mech...is this something in the works or shall I continue to pray for it? Thanks!!

I personally would love to see a Kerensky Atlas Hero mech, but it will be guaranteed to have a near god-like config ( another issue for people to whine about) and doesn't jive with the MWO timeline, Kerensky piloted it before the Exodus

Dual Ballistics...there is one but that uses light gauss rifles in each arm...and energy weapons in the torso

Kerensky piloted an Orion (for which he did have a custom variant); in-universe, he had a hand in designed the Atlas but did not pilot it.
As far as timeline-appropriate custom Hero Atlases:
AS7-WGS "Samsonov" - piloted by DCMS Warlord Greig Samsonov (2790-3030) circa 3025
STD 300 engine
Max armor
x26 SHS
x2 PPC (LA, RA)
x1 AC/20 (RT)
AS7-D "Danielle" - piloted by Wolf's Dragoons Captain Danielle Rondema (died on the planet Misery, circa 3028) circa 3028
STD 300 engine
Max armor
x22 SHS
x6 Medium Lasers (3 in each arm)
x1 LRM-20 (LT)
x1 AC/20 (RT)
Moreover, as the Atlas was one of the Founder's 'Mechs, it could be one of the last to receive a Hero variant...

So what about
Atlas AS10-KS - Payes. DEATH TWIN
The dead twin- startet its carrier as AS7-K build on Quentin in 3040...for the DCMS. Or the major part of this mech started there. Because Leutnant Xavier T. Payes would denie that his Mech was a Mech created by Kurita engineers. He would state that his AS7-D got a field refit kit in 3046 renewing the AS7-D into a AS7-S. However during a Kurtia raid on Barlow's End in 3048 both machines meet each other in combat.
The battle wages between the attackers 9th Ghost and the Defenders 5th Cruis Lancers - until Payes found its oponent an AS7-K anchoring the line of Kuritan troops. With his apperance all fighting faded out....leaving the field for the duell of those big machines.
The Kuritan Warrior did not waste time and started the battle with blow of his Gauss and Large Lasers - penetrating the battle worn armor at the left torso of Payes AS7-S...the damage was horrible destroying the SRM and the LRM.
With hardly any long range weapon and the extreme long range of the white Kurita Atlas the end seems clear. Payes attacked head on. At 270m he was first able to answer fire with his AC 20. At this time his armor was in rags and with 2 SSRM2 and MLAS facing rewards he hardly had a chance to fight back.
Desperate he charged the other Atlas...but those pilot wasn't a rookie...stepping aside...Payes found his rear exposed to the target...in a last act of resistance he fired his rear facing weapons...when the Gauss found a weak spot in the rear armor of the AS7-S....fuzing the last shots of the AC 20. Payes found him self in mid air .... ejected by security systems when he saw the other Atlas again...standing still...his once virgin white armor was pocked and scarred. It was silence...but the head was not damaged....why didn't he move?
The Kurita forces retreat short after. Nobody understand this behaviour...until a Tech Team tried to salvage both Atlas Mechs.
The Geiger-Mueller counter lashed out. Showing remains of a deadly portions of radioactivity.
Payes last salvo have seriously damaged the reactor shielding of the AS7-K...killing the pilot in a really short time because of hard radiation.
With some spare parts of the AS7-K the Techs repaired the devasted AS7-S.
The Imperator Dragon's Fire Gauss Rifle was a good replacement for the Mech Hunter AC 20...a Victory Nickel ER-Large Laser was mounted in place of the destroyed SRM. The Medium Laser in the CT was damaged too. So both SSRM2 was mounted there...and Payes forced them to face into the front...well knowing that only luck have saved him and his unit.
So here is your Hero Mech
circa 3049
STD 300 engine
Max armor
x15 DHS
x2 Medium Lasers (1 in each arm)
x1 LRM-20 (LT)
x1 ER-Large Laser (LT)
x1 GaussRifle (RT)
x2 SSRM 2 (CT)
CASE
LT + RT

Started the work up for the load out:
Head:
6 Crits total, 5 for life support/sensors/cockpit. Leaving 1 open crit
CT: 12 Crits total, 4 for Gyro. Leaving 8 open crits. 2 Energy
LT/RT's:
12 Crits total, 2 Ballistic
LA/RA's: 12 Crits total, 4 for Actuators and shoulder. Leaving 8 open crits. 2 Energy, 1 AMS
LL/RL's: 6 Crits total, 4 for Actuators and Hip. Leaving 2 open crits.
Engine: STD 300
Weapons: x2 AC-10 (LT & RT), x2 Large Laser (LA & RA), x2 Med Pulse Laser (CT)
So it breaks down into this: 4 total Ballistic slots, 6 total Energy slots, and 2 total AMS slots
There have already been a topic like this in "Fan Art". This was quite a good idea in my opinion and something I would be happy to spend my cash on.

Also, a peg leg.
And an autocannon mount on one arm- an arm that naturally will be missing a hand actuator, and have a part that looks like a hook.
Bonus points if they somehow work the Flying Spaghetti Monster in there... say... in the name.

Well you fail to see the intention of a Assault Mech.
It is not the task of a Assault Mech to hunt for light Mechs. It is a unspoken rule of BattleTech that a fast mech can goe into one on one with a slow cumbersome Assault and win. That for there are medium units for Hunt and Kill light units - the Dragon ic actually the only one that can perform that task - here in special the Flame.
The Quickdraw would be the next Hunter Killer.
In CB my Centurion AL - 50t medium Mech with arm mounted energy weapons was my designated Hunter Killer...but with engine cap it was worthless.
The task of a Assault is to wade into enemy fire and use his guns to take out this fortifications or break through the line of defenders.
However that task could not be achieved in MWO: because armor is to thin - considering the RoF and the PinPoint accuracy of multiple weapons of the same size.
There are no line of defense, the matchscore is weird: more weight means you deal more damage means you earn more money.....(reason why it seams that everybody drive assaults)

I dont miss a thing here. I dont miss the fact that driving an atlas with ecm makes me lite candy most every match. They see me and want some. If I am lucky enough to have a second teamate help fend them off good but most often it doesnt happen and I have to use strategys that makle me useless to my team to defend myself. Only thing going for me is the aware light pilot getting stroked by streaks changes their prioritys sometimes. Then I come here and see guys driving cheap gear complain about streaks. This is a dollar and cents argument. Do you think a defense establishment will spend 300 mil per plane that can be dealt with by suplus MIG 17's? Sorry, but the math does not work in that regard.

I know what you mean: But head hunting tactics are based on light mechs going for the heavy or assault commandin BattleMech.
And it is really pain full to fight off only a single light mech with a Atlas (i drive them on my own)
But the only way to kill that buggers is a fast medium or another light:
But when you have a Jenner escorted your Atlas - they will call him a Noob - but actually he does the right thing. I can remember the hell of a fight were a little Raven almost scrapped my Atlas - and a single light mech was responding - he came fired and killed the ******....
