If only PGI would realize how simple their past YEAR of fixes have been, they would have skipped 8 months of LOL patching and actually have a substantial amount of UI 2.0 done as well as a new game mode ( CW anyone? )

Instead they continue to trailblaze through uncharted balance hoping to stumble upon it. Then add features !! HAHAHAHA

I doubt it will though, the MG is okay now. Not great, but okay. It's a far cry from the 0.4 DPS pea-shooter it was when I started campaigning for a viable MG.

MGs should really be more effective at close range for steadily stripping armor than they are, but they're still useful as they are. The animation shouldn't distract the shooter as much, though.

This game continues to be the best BT experience since TT, even with the frustrations of being a terrible player and some of the silly decisions PGI/IGP make. So there's that.

WE can leave the MG where it is now if we had another alternative than the next step up...A/c 2. My jag DD would benefit HUGE if we could put on a heavy MG at 1 or 2 tons. Maybe have an ammo upgrade for the mg at the cost of weight / ammo per ton. Something simple between the MG and A/C 2. what if MG's could also be used as a manual AMS. thad be sweet too

always thought it would be nice if there was something to fill the gap between the .5 ton MG and 6 ton AC02

Is it just me, or have I stopped seeing MGs in play altogether? This was still true prior to the "launch day patch". I almost feel as if the nerf was too much of one... or that noone bothers to take MGs @ my ELO level...

Until it becomes a real weapon you won't see it but in niche troll builds, I do from time to time just for the lols. ;)

Its still on the list of useless weapons, flamer, narc.

The UAC/5 took most of the ballistic slots for the last couple of weeks, so maybe that's why. Now that it has been un-OP'd perhaps we will see some more MGs.

And come Oct. 15th, there will be MOAR DAKKA ;)

Guys, please stop speaking about balancing if you didn't test it for yourself. MG's are extremely good at killing of damaged mechs. Internals usualy eat quite a share of hits, but MG's do tremendous damage against exposed parts.

PGI actually gave a distinct role to an otherwise rather pointless weapon. What's there to complain about? We have already enough light weapons to damage armor.

Can't jump in and assume we never use the things.

I have over 500 matches in quad machine guns and counting, they are still mediocre at best and suffer from lack of real damage.

What role are you refering to? The one where you wait for team mates to do damage then wander in the get the kill shot with your dakka? Until the machine gun can do real work to an undamaged target at CLOSE range (90 m) its useless.

The crit mechanic coupled with the cone of fire makes the MG in this game a total joke.

Last on your list is the plethora of light ballistic weapons to use instead of the 1/2 ton MG....... like the 6 ton AC/2... permagimping all light ballistic mechs.

The last update to MGs was a NERF.


Your mech is standing on one leg, exposed no armor. Now you got a choice of being shot with MG or Medium laser.

Guess what will kill you quicker?

PLEASE go test this. Its not the "TREMENDOUS" MG.

In fact you rather get shot by MG then SMALL LASER.

Small Laser is a half a second worst then mg IF every mg bullet hits. That means real point blank mg fire.



Whiners said MG are for unarmored targets not good vs armor............fine it was agreed.


Now whiners say MG is the WORST VS unarmored targets.

WHAT THE HELL!?

The problem again is the TABLE TOP NERD who wants his HOUSE rules that MGs can't kill mechs.

MGs within their range are as lethal as AC/2z.


Don't want MGs to kill hurt armored targets....FINE......

Now you don't want MGs to kill UNARMORED TARGETS......WTF?



If the armor is GONE...... and MG is around........YOUR SOPOSED TO BE COMPLETELY SCREWED. That's the whole point of armored war-fare and tanks ect......was because MGs /small arms fire would kill you if you had no armor.

MG's is the WORST at what its sopose to be BEST at. The unarmored target.


Whats the bias vs machine guns? Maybe someone is offended by guns and violence.... Maybe its a TT-nerd who forces house rules and can't stand to LOSE unless its in his own dictated fashion......

Its like the MF who TEACHES you to play checkers.......then brings FORCED jump rules after your clearly kicking his butt.



Mg's concerned I'm to the point of whatever dude.......

My advice is for folks NOT to ask for a Damage buff or whatever.....It only gets nerfed.

Instead go for looks and go for range. Don't ever ask for MG buff.....just sit back watch the other weapons get nerfed.

While you are accurate in your statement for this game, this is the ONLY implementation of Machine Guns in ANY MechWarrior game table top or digital pc that the machine guns outright do LOL to armor.

Basically "PGI's" version of MG sucks and working as intended is rather a joke.

Wasn't pointless in previous Mech titles. MWO holds that achievement.
