Consolitis, is a disease which ruins games.

It's symptoms are.

  • clumsy and frustrating user interfaces
  • super-large fonts (used to be seen on televisions from afar)
  • extremely poor visual quality, characterized by low texture resolutions, low polygon counts by current generation standards, etc.
  • poor control not optimized for the keyboard/mouse control scheme
  • horrible handling of saving games, or limited save model
  • lack of options (resolutions, audio settings, graphic quality, etc.)
  • the inability to remap keys to certain actions
  • platform-style gameplay suited for gamepads
  • simplified game mechanics
  • unoptimized performance not taking advantage of the latest PC technologies
  • no support for mods, and no editors for customization
  • Death

Do you remeber Mech Assault and how bad it was? Why would you want that for MWO?

I'd rather PGI not waste resources on console ports right now. I want them focusing on game stability, servers, networking, and the rest of the check list. Oh and a stable CW out of the gate in September.

As much as I hate to say it , it would probably be a better simulation.

In the sense controllers don't offer pin point accuracy. As long as they don't put some kind of aim assist in (reason why I think FPS MLG on consoles is a joke)

There's nothing about console games that require them to be dumbed down though. Not to MechAssault's level anyway.

Chromehounds and Steel Battalion 1 were not dumbed down console mech games IMO. Chromehounds would've been brilliant if FROM had supported it well, but FROM always abandons their games quickly..

LOL!!! Are you serious? Please explain how you fit a keyboards worth of commands on a PS or Xbox controller?

Microsoft hold the MW license. They'd never, ever let it onto a Playstation.

Also I'm sick of play being dumbed down and graphics being tuned down to console standards. The PS4 isn't even out yet and it's running on very outdated hardware.

MWO on PS4 is a great idea, really. PGI may not have the rights, though.

4-6 weapon groups and 2 independent movement controls is all this title needs. Dual-shock has more than enough, though I'd probably still play with a mouse.

Edit: The newer methods of input like Move combined with Oculus VR would be a lot more fun than a keyboard and mouse setup. If they got that working well, it would be awesome.

The very emotional anti-console reaction in this thread is really funny.

I didnt say dumbed down, i said BAD. Nice reading comprehension there. Didnt Chromehounds need a $100 controller specific to ots game?

Don't you like having bi-weekly patches?

Because if you put it on consoles, you'll be lucky to get a patch every 4 months. Patching on consoles is ridiculously expensive.

No ones gonna buy a PS4 after the terrible experience PS3 delivered, lets get this working on the PC where it belongs and not waste time on console versions.

This doesn't make sense. No one plays MWO with all the keyboard's buttons. And many of the buttons in the game are so rarely used they could easily be nested in a pop up menu interface.

This game could never get certified for a console. They'd have to actually address bugs.
