so, ive been reading the forums again. seems like some people have a hard time with the fact that there are many "older" players in this game than there are in other fps games.
so i thought it'd be interesting to see the community's avg age.
im 26 btw.

there have been more pools about this... and from their results i would say your pool is kinda lacking ^_^
should peeps vote here you would see hmm 40%? or more in 31+

Edit: i meant poll... pfft now that i think about it i always called poll a pool
i guess one learns something everyday
and lacking coz there is not enough options... i believe in last one there were options by 5 years until some 60

and yes obviouslly not all mechwarrior pilots read the forums.

Pool is data sample size.

i.e. the people to whom you are asking the question.

Most people that I have played with seem to be in the 31+ range, many over 40. I will be joining the 40+ crowd in July.

If you're making a poll like that, at least think about it first.

I mean, c'mon, did you really think the people above 31 are rare around here?
Ok... the forums do indeed have that impression even on me, but we're still talking about MW fanbase.

P.S. That poll I linked was once deleted actually, back then, it had twice as many votes. Altough the perfect curve seems to indicate a big enough participation.

I think it would behoove the devs to look at this and realize a good contingent of thier target demo are PAYING ADULTS who like to be addressed and treated as such when querying about the status or progression of the product they are paying/investing in.

I'm not sure how to think of the classification of "31 and older" implying 31 as "old"..... ^_^ I'm only 33 dammit! I'm not old!!!!

The problem is, a decent amount of these supposed adults act like children with temper tantrums and whatnot. No way to get anyone to take you seriously.

I agree....being an adult is a two way street...maybe if one's age were tagged next to thier forum name, things would be different.

31 here. I'll be 32 very soon though. Been a MW fan since Mechwarrior 3050 was released on the SNES, but MW3 was my all time favourite. MW4 was ok (well, I did actually buy the game and played it from start to finish), but couldn't live up to Microprose, the same company that made the first Mechcommander game, the first XCOM game (first release was actually called UFO: Enemy unknown). Ah, those were the days.

*holds a minute of silence for Microprose*

Oh, you didn't realize? You only become more gritty with a greater feeling of self entitlement with age. Also, bitterness tends to accumulate over the years.

Then again, being denied a Mechwarrior fix for more than 10 years will turn even the most docile puppy in to a monster!

That would require all people to be honest with it and actually want to show it.

It is a personal information and AFAIK you cna't force anyone to give it to you unless they are signing NDA or something of that sort (altough, even though I haven't lied in my beta application, I still got in, so even there the age requirement was somehow ignored).

Hey I'm also 26. It's a pretty great age eh? Car insurance finally goes down!!!

Though, oddly, I'm sometimes called an "old fart" at work since I've been there for so long...

Loved the game since Mechwarrior 2 and Mechwarrior 2 Mercs. In fact, I am playing through Mechwarrior 2 Mercs right now. I am doing the New Ivaarsen contract with a Zues (salvaged the Atlas from the artillery level, but I made it a rule that I can't pilot any mechs that I used to beat the game previously).
