I won't argue this with you, but I began with MW3, so the Clans have sort of always been around in my head. I agree that by the end of the FedCom Civil War, things were getting screwy, but I still find the Clans to be sort of interesting. An outside, galvanizing force. At least they didn't use aliens or something. I AM still very interested in stuff prior to the Invasion, though. The true "Classic" BattleTech stuff.

That's because your coming for a video game background. I'm coming from a table top background. People who got introduced via the novels or (don't laugh) the tv series will probably have an even different perspective. This is one of the reasons why Battletech has always been a fairly tricky intellectual property.

So many people have so many different perspectives on the game universe, and what should be done with it that your bound to **** a bunch of them off no matter what you do.

"10 years of peace" doesn't mean "no fighting at all", it just means "no full fledged war between whole nations". There are always the occasional raids on border worlds, local nobles trying to increase their base of power and so on ...

Well they were pretty specific when they said that "[...]Aside from an assault in 3041, in which the Tenth Lyran Guards took the world of Skondia from the Combine, the states of the Inner Sphere seemed content to rebuild their realms in peace[,,,]"

Aye, very true. I went from PC games to novels, and my perspective was more or less solid before I discovered the TV series. And while I've never had my hands on the TT or even a sourcebook, I respect the heck out of it, and am excited that PGI wants to put in rules and such from the TT into a MechWarrior game. I admit that I'd prefer to be in the cockpit than looking at a board, but I love the idea of so much strategy being the norm for a game.

But we were talking about era. I admit that I don't know much about pre-Invasion BattleTech beyond what I've read in Stackpole's Warrior Trilogy. Finding books in print has been an exercise in futility in my hometown, and I got a Kindle specifically to get BT books, but now that's gone into limbo. When (if) that bit gets resolved, I'll definitely grab GDL stuff, but until then, I am sadly uninformed from stuff prior to the Fourth Succession War, minus what little I could glean from Sarna.net.

not joining the speculation. Just want to say, the DEV team has made a point to tell us how they are using the timeline and you have pointed out an intersting date close to lunch. Nice catch Renan Ruivo.

Well, there's always the non-kindle ebooks.

It's a very important date indeed! ;)

It'll just to be seen whether PGI decides whether the earliest report of the Wolf means they will become available for purchase as well. My thoughts..... "No".... but still. It's the day IS pilots get a peek at greatness and have a near death experience all in the same event.

However, Phelan Kell, son of Morgan, would be taken captive by the Wolves and rise through the ranks of the Wolf Clan to eventually stand as one of their Khans.

They felt sorry for him because he was stuck piloting the Shadow Hawk.

If the clan invasion starts in august they could be in trouhle since that would mean needing to finish at least another dozen IS mechs and at least a dozen clan mechs by then

Just throw arms on a Catapult. Boom, Mad Cat.

Shrink a Bushwacker and take off the missile component. Boom, Nova.

Take a Bushwacker. Boom, Dire Wolf.

Take a Centurion and remove that goofy thing from its head. Boom, Gargoyle.

And so it goes...
