Bah this thread reminded me I am an episode behind on Spartacus.
Guess I know what I am doing at work today.

To me, the Inner Spehere houses and their conflict remind me more of Jerry Springer in space
Funny thing is, there is no "good guys" in Battletech (Inner Sphere or Clan), everyone is an a**shole.

Have you watched
"Vikings" on the history channel?
Not as gory or anything because it is network TV, but it is a great series.
I'm 3 episodes behind and 1.5 with the Bible (which I think was pretty good TV also, for a History Channel mini) But yeah, Vikings is great. Had to clean out my DVR, with Defiance and GoT rolling out, I had a lot of 'lesser' things to clean up, stuff like "Robot Combat League (yeah, I know, guilty pleasure) and the like.

You can watch them on the History channel website, if you don't have them recorded. That is what I do anyways.

Vikings is awesome, and a large part of it's awesome is that it's not Boobs, Butts, and Brutality (not that there's anything wrong with that!).
It's not historically accurate, but it's very authentic and feels "real". It manages it's awesome entirely on simply being awesome, rather than flashing lots of boobies and graphic violence.

I agree to an extent.
Sometimes it seems Spartacus is going out of its way to throw in a sex scene that does nothing to advance the story.
But Ragnar's wife is freaking hot. You can't tell me you wouldn't mind seeing her in her birthday suit.

Absolutely. But Vikings keeps them looking... Appropriate. While miss Winning is outstanding, she's almost always shown with messy hair, dirt, etc, not all done up purdy like (although this look works well too).
Likewise, the violence is there, but it's done in an "old school" way where the gorier parts are always slightly off camera.
The sex and violence there is, then, enhance the show instead of the whole show just being an excuse for booties and blood.
