Based on how my computer works at times, easy win for the other guy.

I would prefer to either be the sniper from range or the guy burying my seven-ton hatchet in an opponent's cockpit.

My roles of choice will be Medium and Heavy 'Trooper' Mechs for pushing or holding the line and alternately, direct fire support. Based on the current line-up, my Mechs of choice will be a Centurion, a Cataphract, and a Catapult. Centurion will be a CN9-AL for reduced ammunition dependence. Cataphract will be a 1X with the AC/10 swapped for an LBX-AC/10. Catapult will be a K2.

I'm thinking I'll try to either be a scout or a scout hunter. Either way, a faster light/medium designed to take out other light/mediums, as well as send back some positioning data to my team.

Heavy and assault are my game area.. i like to get in close and personal so i can do some serious pain to my enemy.. I mostly lose (long time player of wot now) and i dont survive much battles but i make sure my enemy is not in any condition to slug out with another tank..so they need to hide/stay away from the action :)

Long Range fire support. Probably going to go with a Catapult for my founder's mech.

I also liked Atlas in Mechwarrior 4, with as many large lasers as I could put on. I will certainly experiment in this direction too.

I am a fan of run-and-gun, so "assault role" with medium (unfortunately I don't like the existing mediusm so I may go with catapult or cataphract).

Offensive Scout, no doubt. Raven is my favorite Light Mech and I plan to show it.

Medium skirmisher or medium/light scout/backstabber. Unfortunately with no Griffins, Pixies, or Wolverines, this becomes trickier.

For a founder mech, I'll probably take the Jenner, just because I see myself spendng a lot of time in an over gunned light mech, with good speed. (I will be spending an inordinate amount of time hunting enemy scouts).

With none of the 55 tonners, I'll probably grab a Dragon as my 'medium' skirmisher. Good speed, good armor. Just need to scrap that stupid AC5 and try to find a way to cram a real weapon in (need a Grand Dragon with the PPC).

Scout and hunter/killer in a light, mid range brawler in a heavy (no one ever seems to expect a Mad Dog to be loaded with SRMs, despite it being a canon design, or two ultra ac 20s.

Light Heavy/Heavy Medium, just something with enough speed and agility to still be able to outflank opponents.

Still undecided about taking up a raven for scouting though.

I'll be in the scout role. Its the role that's always appealed to me. Finding the bad guys for my lance and being the eyes for my team works for me.

Harrier in a Med or Speedy Heavy. I'll probably use a combo of scout and assault modules.

Zip in toss a few shots around, get my foes all riled up, and walk 'em into my team's firing line.

I can't say for sure until I get my hands on the game, but depending on how it plays I'll probably focus on either scouting/spotting in a Raven or long-range fire support in a Catapult.
