(You get higher heat ratings with single then double on the sway back.)

Bull$h1t. There's no way to catch up to the 20 EHS which 10 true in-engine DHS provide you with SHS, given the HBK's available tonnage.

a lot of people STILL don't know how heat sinks work.

I bet these are mostly the same people saying missiles are FINE.

Running my 4P at 92.7 kph with very manageable heat. It's all about how you group your lasers together. I usually end a match with 2-3 kills on average. If I can get behind assaults, which at 92.7kp/h is pretty easy. I can usually kill them in a few seconds.

4P is my favorite mech.

They just need to allow us to run 300+ engines in hunchies again. With the host state rewind in place, there's no reason not to! That plus the lag fixes. It is a non-issue now.

Give us bigger engine sizes for our Hunchies, PGI!

My LBX 4H is still my favorite.

Trying the 4SP again but not having much luck with it.

Still waiting on answers to Ask the Devs 36, I would really like to know why the 4N was never included. They could have used the 4H as the basis for both the 4G and 4H, make the fifth model the 4N.

And for some reason, I run better with a stock engine than a 250.

I use my Swayback every now and then. 9 medium lasers, 17 DHS, standard 260, all efficiencies unlocked, stock armor and endo steel. People still underestimate its focused firepower and it will core the unwary. Still builds heat up easily so you have to make sure every shot counts for full duration and also running with other mechs helps spread out the damage taken. It's basically a laser battery with legs.

I will say that certain mech variants aren't exactly for beginners but once you are aware of its limitations you won't over-extend yourself beyond the flank and get beat down. Also helps to catch the enemy off guard by hitting them from the side or behind as most of the medium mechs seem perfect for flanking maneuvers. The Dragons and the Pretty Baby also fit into this category as well.

Oh yeah and melting raven legs or coring atlases or even taking out an XL engine equipped mech is always nice :P

Unfortunately, there are better chassis to do pretty much everything the hunchback does and without the speed of the other mediums it is typically outgunned, outarmored, and not appreciably faster than the heavy/assault mechs that make up the majority nowadays. The 4P is the only one that does something unique by having 9 energy slots, which is fun.

I've been running my 4P with 2 large (arms) and 7 small lasers (hunch/head) for maximum versatility (those 9 medium builds overheat themselves into uselessness so quickly it's not even funny) and an XL260 engine (surviving with 2/9 of my weapons left isn't really surviving.) It's a fun mech but not really that competitive. It's comparable to the usual 4G build (AC/20, 3 mediums) but instead of the slow cycle but greater range of the AC/20 you have a faster cycling shorter ranged hunch that hits for 21 and is easier to hit lights with and 2 large lasers instead of 3 mediums for greater range to keep yourself out of trouble.

I had my 4P out yesterday. It still works.

If you haven't noticed the -4P is king of light cryptonite, stay with the assaults and blast anything that messes with them. You keep the hunch a lot longer when there is more dangerous stuff around.

Yes, this is how you are supposed to pilot it.

The only problem is that Assaults these days are complete ******* and stay out of the fight with their PPCs and LRMs instead of going in to take advantage of having 500+ armor.

The 4G and the swayback are 2 of my favourite mechs to play in. I've been using the swayback exclusively the last few days and still love it. The 4G will get better once they bring in HSR in todays patch.

DHS are 2.0 in engine, and 1.4 elsewhere. SHS are 1.0 everywhere. with 9 ML , 260 STD, you can get 8 DHS +10 from engine installed for a total of 31.2. the most you can get with SHS is around 24-25 and that requires an XL engine. The only way to get more is to go to a 225 XL or something, and even then you run out of critical slots, and only come close to the 31.2 value from DHS, but do not reach it.

Unless smurfy's is off there is no way to come close to being effective with SHS as you can with DHS in a 4P.

i love my hunchbacks, the 2LL uac5 founders hunchback is almost exactly my style, at least the closest out of the current mechs out right now. (god i wish it didn't have an xl but oh well :\ )

that said the aim-alignment issues are remarkably annoying :P

I actually really like the 4G, it just feels right with the one big AC20. If you are a good shot it is very funny how quickly you can dismantle some mechs. Learning to protect the hunch, limit exposure between the cooldowns for the big gun and actually hit the same locations on your opponent is where you get the performance from it.

It is pretty slow though...
