Lore? Balance? Oversight?

Sarna says "Space is made by removing the jump jets" for that variant... but I can "remove the jump jets" from my C2 ^_^

To make me QQ ^_^ I would buy a K2 if it could use JJs.

The stock variant had no jumpjets, therefore the variant has no jumpjet hardpoints.

From a game balance standpoint, if it did have JJs it would probably be the goto poptart rather than the 3D.

Canon.

Technically, you cannot remove the JJs from your C2. ^_^

Besides, it's not like K2 wasn't the very best in the game since closed beta and still is really great.

No real need with the Pharct -3D in the game.

Joke answer = It just cant handle it
Serious answer = Game/mech pool Balance

Most mechs have a few "non-jumpers", its all about balance.

It wouldn't be terribly unbalanced if it had JJs, but you would be seeing yet another poptart at that point.

I can only imagine how many threads would be about a poptarting K2 with two AC/20s if it did have jumpjets. Not only that, but complaining that the Jager wouldn't be viable against it.

We'll have more jump capable "poptart" mechs in the future so i don't miss the K2 not having them.

JJs are based on which canon variants have JJs. It's the way they went with the conversion. That is all.

Canon.

Not necessarily. More like 'canon realism' for balance purposes in a Mech game. Any Mech can build anything with open rules in TT.

Why can't my Atlas do 150 kph? other mechs can.

Lore. Canon. Take your pick, other than the fact that they are the same thing. ^_^

For the same reason I can't run dual-AC20s in an Atlas. It was the devs choice to take certain limitations from canon and apply them to MWO build limits as a balancing and diversity factor.

I'd like to point out that the tonnage it gave up for the JJs, if it could, would make it a less capable Gauss pop-tart than they wish it would be, and AC20 pop-tarts would be amusing, but the range limits would take away from the pop-tarting advantage. (i.e: You wouldn't get the full damage until they were rather close, at which time they would be coming around/over your cover and removing the advantage)
