It can't be THAT nice of a color. They WANT you to buy camo to change it ;)

The older default green before paint shop 2.0 was nicer.... they probably made the new stock green slightly uglier to encourage people to buy paint, duh. The paid colour "olive" is actually closest to real world military olive drab and the green Mechwarrior used to use by default. Ironically "olive drab" is also available for purchase but is not really olive drab at all.

Yep the "Olive Drab" for purchase actually looks kinda nice to boot.

the uglier green must be intentional. which is a shame because it takes away from the immersion

Because every military buys their paint from the same place, AND pick the same colors?

Whats this camo green thing you are going for? U.S. tanks in WW2?

I don't understand what is more 'accurate' about one shade of green vs another?

If anything I'm with the gunmetal grey crowd, but the green trials don't bother me.

Actually I miss when every mech had his stock colors

People keep bringing up the point of correct camos for the correct environment. What's the point of this if I want to be as ugly and intimidating as possible? No one looks at a mech with forest or urban camo and go, "Oh god, kill it! Kill it with fire!!!" They just target the weaknesses of the mech in question and start firing. I notice a delay in firing when a mech is garish and ugly, as if the pilot is thinking whether or not to engage even if they can take them on. The fuglier the paint job, the better, in my opinion.

Edit: fixing words that were unnecessarily censored, spelling mistakes fixed.

lets just call it the color most commonly used in MWgames.

not neccissarily right or wrong. but the most commonly used color associated with the army.

This was original stock color.

seems like they uglified stock colors intentionally

in which case there is no point in trying to get them to change it.

Wow! I never thought of it that way.... I am going to have to say yes. Ewwwwww! I guess that makes him more feared now! He is a headshrinker too! Just look what he did to the Dragon mechs! Fear his delicious elixir!

I paint my mechs the way I do for the same reason they painted their Dreadnaughts in WW1 the way they did.

Posted Image

it breaks up outlines and throws off depth. You can't not see a giant ship on the sea, just like you can't not see a mech with the "shoot here" box.

EDIT:

Here's that ship without the paint. You can notice much more detail in it.

I prefer a stock gray or black to be honest. Or even for mechs to come unpainted, bare frame!

Trial mechs should come in their original color schemes though! Like how the Catapult used to be brownish yellow.

Aren't stock mechs a smoldering burnt out black husk scheme downed by those nasty custom mechs?

[Serious] stock mechs paint are fine and if colours you can't see yourself and those around you youself can not control {as it's other players choice} then I think you're attention is missing bigger issues with this game. :(

Camo doesn't even really help you blend in in this game. It's kind of pointless.

It does if you are powered down.

Yeah, I remember the first time I looked up Dazzle camo, I was so happy it was a thing that existed.

You're better off not painting the whole thing red. My 9M just has a big red racing stripe; it's the only way to get it to go 85kph.
