Yeah, I remember the first time I looked up Dazzle camo, I was so happy it was a thing that existed.

When I first saw it, and acquired it, I wish I could have renamed my first 9M "Bismark"

You're better off not painting the whole thing red. My 9M just has a big red racing stripe; it's the only way to get it to go 85kph.

Mine's obnoxious yellow and black on the 9M, obnoxious yellow and blue on the 8Q, and all white on my 9M christened "Snowball". If an Awesome isn't obnoxious, it won't go fast.

9M "AWS-9M" (I forgot to name this one... )

Haven't you heard? Red 'uns go faster.

Am I the only one who misses the stock colors from CB. The red Atlas, the yellow Catapult, ect?

Parallel discussion:

I agree that concealing camouflage in MW:O is useless in the effect of actually "concealing"... (Kinda hard to hide with a red triangle above your Mech)

That said, I've found when targeting a camouflaged Mech it's slightly more difficult to discern / pick-out specific areas (arm, right-torso etc.) at distance, thus while not necessarily concealing a Mech it does break up it's outline against the terrain and affects targeting.

Lastly, I argue that garish paint jobs actually draws attention to oneself and actually drastically increases ones chance of being singled out and hunted...

I have two camo schemes I run with... A mantis green / black scheme and an olive green, dark-brown, tan scheme... I estimate I have a 20% higher likelihood of surviving a match when I'm in my concealment scheme versus my "hey look at me" florescent green scheme... :(

Will weigh in on camo - I normally never even notice a paint job on an enemy - most maps you can barely see anything until within 100 M anyway and by then you are not looking at it's paint...

Camo could be of use if folks ever did the power down ambush so well known from the books. This does not really work these days as most mechs are too fast to be caught when you have to wait for the power up sequence to finish. I have tried as folks will walk right by as you do not show up as a red triangle and you can get in their "6" but by the time you are ready to shoot them they have turned or reacted as you pop up on their screen.

I appreciate everyone decking out their ride - usually having a look in the starting area - some folks have cool imaginations/too much time on their hands ;) , and Broceratops - that is one of the most hideous things I have ever seen - I bet it should have a negative targeting modifier for opposing pilots who cannot bear to look at it.... well done!

I just skipped over the 4 pages, sorry if someone already posted but the trial mechs are not painted olive or basic-green at all:

Trial Green (original):

Camo Light Green repaint:

Everything is ok looks like "advertised".

Honestly, does anyone really notice a mech's color in a heated battle? I don't. All I see are silhouettes.

So all this talk about camos and colors and visibility as it pertains to combat effectiveness is nonsense imo. It just makes your mech appealing to you in your mech bay.

so "basic green" isn't the same color as trial mech green. your right seems like the trial mechs use "light camo green"

so when you buy a mech it becomes a uglier color. whelp thats a good way to tell when people are using trial mechs lol.

Nope. There have been entire threads dedicated to the glowing eyes and red paint on the Atlas. Mostly the glowing eyes though.

I've always thought that stock mechs should look unpainted, so the default color should be whatever looks closest to unpainted metal.
