2(+) Issues That Need Addressing

another huge issue i have with the current state of the game is the seemingly random buff/nerf that is going on with various weapons...PPC being a huge one...i understand that cannon adherence to TT rules is not possible nor desirable in a RT simulation...what i dont understand is leaving some items very vanilla TT and go off campus with others (ballistic and MD lasers vs LL and PPC's...as well as the constant buffing and nerfing of missles)
this game will not survive if the devs dont begin to catch and clue and limit or eliminate boating...half the fun of the game is the freedom to design mechs that can be competitive in various engagement ranges...right now there is no benifit to this...simply load up a stalker (or any mech with 4+ slots for same weapons) with LRM's/SRM's (when they work again) or PPC's...or run lights with 4+MD lasers and you have a winning mech design..
2) matchmaking...i read the CC on the new fixes...and they still dont address pugs vs premades...right now the game is losing (lost?) the casual pug players...i mean who wants to play a game where the only factor on whether u win a match is whether or not u have the premade on ur team...the game must separate premades from pugs...its that simple...people have to have the ability to casual sign in and blow s##t up...i am completely for team matchs when the game goes to a competitive clan based system (guild based..whatever)...but for the casual grind and the new player who has no clue or no friends a pug friendly enviroment needs to be in place to cover them...voice comms are simply too powerful to allow them in a pug enviroment...at least until a universal voice comm is enabled in all matchs...
this is a beta and i understand that things will get tweaked as they fine tune the game...the problem is we are paying money for a game that is simply not progressing rather than regressing...these things need to be priority...not new skins and color palettes...and so far they havent been addressed at all...boating has been a serious issue for a long time and has yet to have a CC topic addressing it at all...pug v premade hasnt been addressed either...time to get some information flowing to the player base as to whether or not the current state of the game is within the margins the devs feel the end product will be...

the QQing is strong in this one, matchmaking is going to balanced out we already know this from upcoming patches, there's nothing you can do about boating it helps make the game more fun and makes people adapt strategies to defeat that tactic so suck it up.

I'll leave this to others.

It would make people adapt if they would stop nerfing viable counters. This game, as it sits now, hasn't been this horrid for weapon balance since the GodLRM buff in closed beta.
Not to mention to complete destruction of the IW metagame with the introduction of ECM.

The weapon balance swings are a natural byproduct of being beta and therefore, far from finished. Splash damage in particular affected missiles so much...
... And I agree, strong QQ in this one. Brings unsubstantiated arguments such as "PUGs are quitting!" while blaming the "evil premades" and claiming it's impossible to win without one on your side.
Meh, I'm done here. Seen this thread too many times in too many different forms.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to have a game mode that only allowed stock mechs.

THIS.......Well done OP. My concerns exactly. Brilliantly put.

Then people would naturally gravitate to the stock "boats" like the AWS-8Q and HBK-4P

How do you destroy something that hasn't been created yet?
I have a feeling that this whole thread is going to be chocked full of fail.
It existed in better form before than it does now.. back when scouting, spotters, and positioning was important for indirect fire -the natural counter to direct fire boats.
It sure wasn't perfect (AC/20's were useless for a VERY long time), but you had enough soft counters to make sure boating wasn't as common. I see more boating now than I ever saw in CB.

on one hand i agree with you completey with regards to boating i think its lame to be honest, battlemechs are supposed to be versatile if your just going to go with 1 loadout of ppcs for example its a total waste of hard points. i like being able to fill up all my hardpoints its what makes the varients, well, variable lol. but its not a good idea as things are, as you say they nerb/buff weapons all the time so what you get is in fact people boating the weapon of choice or flavour of the day whatever it is.
however on the other hand i dissagree with the what you say about the new players leaving. i mean there are some leaving no doubt, and new ones joining. i would argue its the older players leaving as it is frustrating with all the constant changes in weapon buffs etc. i know from experience that it can be at times unplayable. there are many examles like the lrm uber buffs lol where every mech in game was just raining lrms lol. also my fav the raven 3l maser race hit box ssrm meltdown, the list goes on.
my point is a lot of players now are just waiting and watching and hoping it will be stabalized soon, and not playing. i myself took a few weeks off and came back but only play maybe 1 hour a day averaged over the week now. and i think stability is an important word here as that is what the game needs, something solid that doesnt change that brings re-assurance to players.
im taking the advice many people say on the forums, go do something else like read a book w/e.... so i bought a 4 pack f mechs on ebay for 200 kroner http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2329de7f8d
this is good value for money. im not saying mechs in mwo should be this cheap but i would choose the above over paying even more for 1 mwo mech any day, sorry but thats just my view.

You mean when people were actually testing RW balance in the game before OB let in the masses that showed there were massive problems in the combat system that pretty much led to everything else taking a TEMPORARY back seat?

That's why PGI nerfed them. A pilot that kills efficiently scores less points than pilots that do boatloads of damage but get very few kills.

I don't fear boats, ppc boat? let's run on him and turn around.
An AC20/ SRM boat? run away by using your arms as a shield and shoot them from far.
Boat makes great things in specifics situation, so don't makes this situations happen.

Try making a *real* argument why "boating" is bad and why. I think once you produce a list, you will see there is a valid counter-argument to each of your points.
