I am not sure where I am yet though it feels like I am matched against different people.

From my perspective, as a newer pilot, i think on skill level it seems better - but the weight class issue is big. I have a thing for mediums - and I am trying to do something about that - but in the mean time, it is daunting on the light end of match vs 4-5 assaults and heavies....I dont have a very good role in that match up. I have moderate firepower, but not enough armor to last long enough, and am not as fast as a light, so I get stuck in limbo.

Seems to be in the right direction,but weight class match will be more impactful.

now - time to go buy At LEAST a heavy....

MM is still as bad as Before. Team with ECM alwasy Winns , the one thing that MM needs to adjust is no of ecms per side and still no balance on weights

something feels wrong with matchmaking...its been steamroll after steamroll..rounds last 3-4 mins...i understand the need for weight balancing but i would rather have uneven weight and challenging rounds than the current state...lets see how this thing evolves afetr pgi gathers the data it needs but so far i have to say before patch mm felt much better

First let me preface this with some history. Tuesday morning I was ready to remove MWO from my PC and laptop and never look back. Last night, after an initial period of winning non-stop, greater than 50% of the games were extremely close. I'd say MM is working much better, though I don't really like the long range turn that the game has taken.

I don't know what kind of ELO down correction took place...because I'm really new to the game, and had a number of fun "low skill" matches where both sides were equally inept, but that simply doesn't happen anymore. It may be because I've been running in Commandos a lot lately, but no matter where I go, with a few very rare exceptions, my team gets steamrolled, or the other one does (in those games, the better team could be down a heavy and still easily win).

It's almost like I get set up with other low ELO players, and the opposing team is made up of players of roughly similar skill to each other...just their skill being a lot higher than ours.

Ran into a bad number of organized enemy teams, too. I PUG exclusively, so far - is it hard to have premade teams drop only against other premade teams?

Before the patch, the hud bugs drove me crazy, but I could get into the middle of the pack somewhat regularly. Post patch, the hud bugs are less common (though they still exist), but I feel outclassed by most enemies. Might be because of the massive sniper focus, too. Frankly, it hasn't been much fun, and I'm actually signing out for the day in frustration.

matching with players is much better i think. But matchmaker still does uneven matches related to Heavys and assaults on one side and light and assaults on the other. Its more problem on bigger maps especialy in conquest mode.

The Elo recalculation has done some weird things ... I need to play some more to get some hard data, but it appears that my Elo was adjusted down (significantly) in Heavy mechs, up (a bit) in Mediums, and up (alot) in LIghts.

Also, when driving Heavies, I was almost always matched up (on and with) teams almost exclusively Assaults and Heavies (I should not be the fastest mech on my team in a CPLT-K2).

Now, since ballistics HSR and the Highlander were also both out in abundance last night, there is probably more than one factor at work.

It is definitely going to take some getting used to.

During peak hours, the games are frequently extremely close for me, much more than before this patch. During off-hours (12 to 3 am PDT), the games are steamroll after steamroll.

Oh, and during peak hours I have ~ a 5/1 win/loss ratio (though the games are often very close, with only 1 or 2 people remaining). I'm not sure what's up with that, but it doesn't seem like that should be happening.

Ever since the patch, literally every single game is unbalanced!
Either my team is too extremely strong or too extremely weak... every single game i've played (as far as i can remember) has had either 8 Dead vs 0 Dead or 8 Dead vs 1 Dead... please fix this, it's very irritating with this matchmaking update!

The matchmaker seems to be better, based on a limited number of matches. Those being where it doesn't stack all the lights on one side, or all the ECM (or even substantial majority) on one side.

I just came off a match where the ECM ratio was 4:1. The kill ratio was 8:1, and it only seemed to take a couple of minutes.

ECM must be balanced. It's game breaking. My win/loss ratio in my 3L is double anything else I have.

Seems the devs keep putting ELO as a scapegoat for all the borked matchups we get. However, they never even bother to address the ecm and tonnage.

Pure misdirection.

For whatever reason, tonight I have been getting awesomely close game after awesomely close game. It's been a blast. Whatever you've done now with the numbers, seems to be working! I have, however, lost most all of these really close games, but they were all within 1 or 2 people. I'd say 70% of my games have only 1-2 people remaining on the winning team. This is within the hours of 9 pm and 11 pm.

Still Conquest is barely playable as the mech class matching is not in, mostly got 1-2 scouts on one side and none on the other. Alpine and Tourmaline are unplayable when the scouts know their job. Some games are getting really close and last long, some others are 8-0 or 0-8 games in Assault mode.
Also still want to feature that ECM got balanced between teams, Again got matches yesterday with 3 RVN-3L + 2 D-DC and no ECM on our side. Also got this vise versa.
The ELO value balacing seems to tighten up the matches a bit, but the missing class matching is a big problem.

I'm actually seeing more 8-0 8-1 games than before the advent of the first ELO MM.

ELO is working much better for me. Seem to be 50/50 win/loss, coming from what felt like a 90% loss rate pre-patch...which was very frustrating. However, save a few games, I noticed a lot seem to be 8-0 steam rolls (both ways). Looking forward to the weight balancing.

On a side note, will we ever be able to see our rankings?

After playing a few more games, I see it is not working as well as first thought, and I'm right back to the exact same pre-patch position. I played against easy pilots to begin with (as expected), and I noticed a lot of easy 8-1 victories. I then reached a point where I felt I should be, ie. 50/50 win/loss (my kill/death was similar), and playing with 'like minded' pilots, and against pilots who really challenged me; the game was fun...Then it's like I hit a wall. My teams are mostly newbies, and the enemy are well co-ordinated, seasoned pilots. Also still seeing a lot of matches where one team is 1-2 pilots down.
It feels like it almost 'overshoots' you, then compensates by throwing you with pilots out of their depths, against pilots well seasoned.
