So, I find it kind of funny that I gradually started playing less and less of this game because I was just finding that each patch was making it less and less fun for me. I'd hop in for a game or 2, go "bleh", and then quit. So, today, after about a week or so of not playing, I decide to hop in game and see what the Highlander is all about. I take out my Hunchback 4G, step into a match, and eat a ton of pinpoint PPC's to the torso from jumpjetting highlanders.

Yeah. Lost my will to play rather quickly.

How in Gods name can we make PGI take this thread seriously????

If any of us knew how this would work, we would have solved so many other issues so much earlier.

The novel way I have combated the jumpers is a Irm jumper http://mwo.smurfy-ne...82fd5b033ef0b60 . Makes me an unique snowflake. One that is real deadly when you try to rush me! (lights not included!)

I seriously think you and many other people are on the same boat. Lets hope that put some fire under PGI wallet.

Same. Had a clan meeting the other day where we were talking about how we have to start changing up our builds specifically for high alpha to be competitive. I run mediums and light heavies... no desire to play a poptart or "all damage" build whatsoever. This game has degraded to one style of play.

Honestly we have no one to blame but all the people that play these builds. If no one configured their mechs like this I am sure it would be all butterflies and rainbows. It's really not PGIs fault other then the LRMs(correct them please).

I don't think the players should be blamed for the way they play, people are always going to use the best thing or what they think is the best thing.

you can't really stop people from playing the way they do unless there's some sort of forced in game rules, like maybe adding penalties for boating a bunch of large weapons, or penalties for mechs using weapons they sort of weren't intended to use. I dunno, It's pgi's responsibility to figure things out and enforce certant balances, not the players

WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!?!?!?!>!#$>

sorry let me compose mineself

I run with PPC\Gauss spam almost exclusively these days.

Because the way PGI has balanced the game that is the only thing that is viable.

This is all PGI's fault

but its not the end of the world

They can still buff SRMs\LRMs and add a point of heat to PPCs in a hotfix

"Rivers flow at the path of least resistance"

If PPC and Gauss boats/poptarts are the easiest to play (Least resistance) over a medium skirmisher or close range brawler, people will play the PPC and Gauss boats/poptarts. PGI basically made long range high alpha weapons the path of least resistance.

What they need to do to things to be more balanced and to make poptarting less appealing is to implement what many here have already said, make it so that your targeting reticle shakes and shimmies while using your JJ until your feet firmly land on the ground.

Another thing to contend with is the insane amount of ER/PPCs you can shoe horn into a mech and not blow your self up in an alpha. Ala 5/6 PPC Stalkers and what not. Possibly increase PPC heat by 1 point. Currently its at 8, so putting it to 9 would help. I am also in favor of adding heat penalties to some weapons, ER/ LL and ER/ PPC.

Example: Assuming PPC have their heat bumped to 9... If you have 1 PPC then you are fine, no heat penalty, but, if you add a second PPC then you get a 1 point of extra heat, even if you fire one at a time, that PPC is going to generate 1 point more heat. Now that doesn't sound like much at first but if you fire both at the same time then you are getting 2 more points of heat. If you have 3 PPCs, then a single PPC is going to generate 2 points more heat when fired, firing all three would then generate 6 points of more heat. A 6 PPC Stalker build would mean that a single PPC would be generating 5 points of extra heat per PPC. So firing a single standard PPC will generate 14 heat total. So firing all 6 at once with each PPC now generating 14 heat, 14 x 6 = 84 heat. I wouldn't want to stand near that thing when it fires sense it would most like blow its self up.

Edit: Also, what happened to shutting down to much by over heating and you blow your self up? I have not seen that happen sense close beta.

You know what? Screw it. I am going to start capping their sorry *****, if they wanna run all jump snipers, that's cool. I'll just wait for their fast movers to come back so I can get my fight on and start having fun again. I don't care if people don't like capwarrior, it beats sitting around like a chump waiting to get ganked by 8 highlanders.

I'm tired of waiting for the inevitable bum rush that happens once the rest of my pug blob is a slag heap. I'll get me the old cap mod while I am at it, just to add some urgency. Even if I get owned, it will be worth it because I will have the chance to shoot back.
