Naw. That is not the way to do it. here are far to many Canon boats coming, what needed one is not give a Mech 6 energy hard points when there are three energy weapons. I can understand adding a point or two but 3-4???

Owning every supplement pre- Jihad/Dark Age, and 20 plus years playing in sanctioned tournaments, I must disagree. You have a handful of boats (Pirahna, Nova, WarHawk, Thunderhawk, Annihilator, Viking) and the vast majority are balanced (or attempts to balance). The vast majority of 3025 mechs functioned just fine.... vs the other 3025 era mechs (Charger, Banshee and such being intentional exceptions), and still usually showed OK against the 2750 SLDF designs. The 3050 TRO brought the core OmniMechs, of which 2 were actual boats. Most of the 3050 IS designs were intentionally restricted, as they were meant to represent rush job field kits. 3055 saw a mix, but most were not "optimal" as they were rush designs with new, somewhat poorly understood tech, rushed in design and implementation.
3058 and on was when mechs started to come out "optimized" and few were boats. Unless you count dual gauss a boat. Of the top off my head I can't recall any stalk 6 ER PPC mechs.
Point being is boating was never the "norm" in TRO's, and all the designs worked EXACTLY as intended in their environs, and oddly enough all previous MW titles, you could run most of them fine too.
Dude knows his TROs!

Also We didn't need 6 PPCs to do what we are doing now. The Awesome did it fine with 3!

HArd point sizes. End of issue. Small Hard Points can mount Small and Medium Lasers, Tags and Flamers. Large Hard Points for Large Lasers and PPCs. Ballistics can run MG, AC2 and 5 in small, AC 10, 20 and Gauss in Large. LRMs allow 5 and 10 packs in small slots, 15-20 in large, SRMs allow 2-4 per small, the 6 in the large.
Boating eliminated, without having to wonk out heat scales or damage, which just further punish players NOT boating.

Others think we sould have "good" or "canon boats" and bad or OP boats. Well that just messes with customization, doesn't it?
What I would like to hear is the devs mind on that issue. Do they think there is an issue? Do they have things comming that will fall into place and balance things?
For those who might give a damn here's what I think:
1. All weapons are not and should not be equal.
2. All weapons should have their role in the hands of pilots that understand that role.
3. Mechs should have their role in the hands of a TEAM that understand and utilize that role.
Few examples: Spider standing still on top of hill in Alpine, thinking hes spotting. One alpha latter his asking if it was skill or hack. That guy didn't realize that he should be moving all the time, hitting us from behind, touching our base to throw us off guard.
Brawler mech trying to go through water in Forest to close the distance on enemy snipers. Dead. Didn't ask team to cover him, didn't go from cover to cover. Didn't wait for friendly light to create a distraction.
Things like that are basics, yet few pilots live by them.

They should be applied to EVERY Mech, as that is the case in TT.
Boating is in TT, always has been, but in TT there IS a rather simple and extremely effective balancing system..HEAT. The heat scale in TT isn't just Cold/Warm/Hot/Shutdown like we have in MWO, it's actually got all sorts of things that happen as your heat goes up the scale. Movement gets affected, aim gets affected, ammo has a chance to blow up, and as you KEEP going higher, it gets worse. Worse to the point of your Mech completely shutting down and being out of commission for however many turns it takes for your heat to drop back to zero again. That means you don't shut down for a few seconds like in MWO but that you shut down until ALL the heat you've accumulated is gone, a few turns usually in TT, and since the heat dissipation in MWO follows that same 10 second time span, that means you'll be shut down until you die in most cases in MWO because we fire 3 times faster then in TT in most cases.
Simple and easy fix to the 'boating problem' that so many whine about, make heat deadly. I'd PREFER to see the full heat scale negatives that are in TT but that's probably not going to happen(seen dev quotes on it not happening), so make it simple.
Get over 100% and your Mech shuts down until it hits 0% heat. Leave the Override ability in, it's in TT so there's no reason to remove it, but you only get to use it ONCE. You take the internal damage from being over 100% heat as it currently works AND then you shut down until your heat is at 0%.
A really simple fix that would work wonders, since any Stalker firing 6 PPCs hits the 100% mark extremely quickly and would be spending a lot of the match shutdown if they fire alphas constantly. Right now they shut down a lot but it's for a very short time, just until the heat drops below 80% or so, but make it so they shut down until heat hits 0% and see what happens...
And concerning Willie's posting method..so friggen what? He's broken NONE of the forum rules and you can easily set it so his formatting is ignored. He at LEAST posts ON TOPIC, unlike many who use standard formatting, so what in the hells are you complaining about?

Well, that isn't exactly canon (what in this game is?)
but it would be awfully unfriendly to new players
especially given the crap trial mechs they have to use
to earn enough CBills to buy their own.
However, it is very difficult to not overheat given
the minor fact that DHS barely give any benefit
over SHS (though SHS are next to useless).

How is that reporting me thing

And I see you are still trolling this thread

Check it out. That entire page of a text wall posted = condensed to enough characters to stick in two tweets. What you are doing is obnoxious.

Are you seriously calling someone a bigot because they don't like you writing like a tool? And as stated every time you are quoted you cannot be ignored. Furthermore, I believe you are a serious eye sore for unregistered members browsing these forums that don't have that option.
You are ATTEMPTING to get ignored by as many people as possible, which is textbook trolling. I can't believe you can't figure that out.
Your low content posts should not be filling entire screens.

Victor already tried it.
Ask him how reporting me turned out.
Some people just rage over the dumbest things.

Are you new or something?
I am not the cause of threads
getting derailed ESPECIALLY in
General Discussion.
Those are derailed quickly by others.
I format like this because I like centered text.
I like being different but still trying to help others.
The fact you guys don't like people being different
means you are bigoted.
My suggestion is to get over it and move on.

In a way, that is also the basic reason why LRMs were so popular and effective for a time. If you can shoot at the enemy, and he can't shoot back, the weapon is great. Even if you have only 20 % accuracy, if those 20 % accuracy are responded to with 0 enemy shots or 0 incoming damage, this is a great result.

There is a reason that "general trolling" is a probation offense elsewhere. If he went onto any other major game company's forums and started posting like this he wouldn't last 4 hours.
If what he's doing is not against the rules, it needs to be.

Oh, don't try that "I'm just different, a special little poster, why do you hate me

You're basically going along the same logic as people who try to defend screaming "FIRE" in a crowded movie theater should be considered Freedom of Speech. I don't like you because you post differently, I don't like your posts because they take up entire screens when they should take up the space of a paragraph. That is obnoxious.
If you liked to post all in Italics, a different (but reasonable) font size, different colored text... you'd hear no complaints from me. I don't care if you personalize your style. You just picked the single most horrendous way to do it.
EDIT: Hell, you know what? I don't even mind if you want to center all your text. I draw the line at the double spacing + three words at a time crap. Even without centering it looks awful.

Agreed.
I knew these forums would be mishandled as soon as I saw how draconian the chat filter was.
