Really? and what does it bring to the table? Knowing that the sun rises every morning makes you a better player?.
I'm sure he adapted, if he's smart he has 3 choices:
- Adapt and join the ranks of the PPC riders of doom if he wants to counter
- Adapt and join the ranks of the light mech cappers if he wants to win against ridge humpers and poptards
- Go to the forums and tell people to overcome the unfavourable odds of bringing any mech type not listed above so he doesn't run out of fodder (those naive enough) for his ppc build
Poppycock:
1. Learn to use cover and /or take an lrm5 for harassment ("incoming missile" every 3 seconds is just flat out griefalicious.). Either they can`t hit you till you`re close, or they have their head down, or they`ll take unnecesary damage from a "joke" weapon. And when you`re right next to them you let them have it and watch them start to panic and overheat. Few things are easier to find, outsmart and kill than long range DF builds, because anything that you can shoot at knows exactly where you are.
2. see also 1.
3. Psychological warefare is also a legit form of warfare. You just have to gind a mind weak enough to exploit. hese forums are probably not the worst place to start looking.
Improvise : I don`t have a ppc and can`t afford one /don`t want one, what can I use to counter it? ECM?
LRMs? Gauss? Ac2? LL?
Adapt: He keeps killing me becasue I charge him straight on over open terrain. Maybe I should use cover or walk sideways? ANd I always get killed before I take a single shot becasue he`s ouit of range... maybe I should drop a brawling weapon for somethign with a bit more reach?
Overcome: Combine the 2 for maximum effect and destroy the opposition.
It`s amazing how the most simple statements can apparently thoroughly mindfuck so many people that present themselves as "smart".... The truth is however that you`re not acting smart, but stubborn.
*Edit* note also that ALL of these things incorrectly assume you are in a 1 on 8 against 8 poptarts. In reality, there are 7 others in your company to help. Teamwork is your friend, and is massively OP to boot.
