Assuming there are in MW4 MP3 servers still up.. you should download that and go into one..
Jumpsnipers are the cockroaches of Mechwarrior.. they'll be the only thing left in the end before servers go offline.

It's what happens when there is no real "information warfare" or "missiles."

Don't stand on the opposite hill and play their game. Play your game.

First, they are so slow when poptarting and they usually dont have full jump jets that their ability to poptart is limited and and they are very easy to hit.

Second, 4 Jenner Fs with 6 mLasers for example should be able to get in their midst and wreck one or two while causing enough chaos that the main force can move on them. If you stream in one at a time or if you are unorganized then any configuration you have will lose.

Stop panicking and try thinking of ways to counter them.

They just released the highlander, of course we'll have shitloads of jumpjetting snipers. This goes without saying, but use cover and ambush.

Yeah, i always do it like that with my brwaler! I slowly crawl near the evil MacLeod using all the cover i can get and then unload all my short range dps fury on the sniper!

Then i receive their alpha right to my face.

And then i start to wonder why i use short range stuff when they get a higher short range alpha with their sniperguns than me...

Then i changed seats to my K2 again...

Really? and what does it bring to the table? Knowing that the sun rises every morning makes you a better player?.
I'm sure he adapted, if he's smart he has 3 choices:
  • Adapt and join the ranks of the PPC riders of doom if he wants to counter
  • Adapt and join the ranks of the light mech cappers if he wants to win against ridge humpers and poptards
  • Go to the forums and tell people to overcome the unfavourable odds of bringing any mech type not listed above so he doesn't run out of fodder (those naive enough) for his ppc build

You so totally got it wrong! This is just a lure!

They pretend to be helpless poptar(ge)tsnipers to get you near them. Then, when you show yourself right next to them, they brawl you to death with their deadly long range weaponry.

Hey, take it up with the next U.S. Marine you see. It is, after all, their unofficial mantra.

I usually play an UAC/ALRM-10/2SSRM/2ML CN9-A, an ERPPC+ASRM4 COM-1D, or a ERLL+2ML SDR-5D. Any of those qualify for "PPC rider of doom" or "light 'mech capper" in your mind?

Again, the solution to the poptart problem is so easy it's baffling people don't see it: Don't play their game. Don't line up on the ridge and get taken out. Don't run across the open field without suppressing fire from your team-mates. Play smart. Play to *your* strengths, not theirs.

If you cannot get your team to suppress the poptarts so you can flank them, use the terrain to do so. Or do something else - take your team around them completely, or even *gasp* send your lights to out-cap them.

There's no need to stand there like a bozo and let them kill you. That's what "improvise, adapt, overcome" should tell you, clichés notwithstanding.

Poppycock:

1. Learn to use cover and /or take an lrm5 for harassment ("incoming missile" every 3 seconds is just flat out griefalicious.). Either they can`t hit you till you`re close, or they have their head down, or they`ll take unnecesary damage from a "joke" weapon. And when you`re right next to them you let them have it and watch them start to panic and overheat. Few things are easier to find, outsmart and kill than long range DF builds, because anything that you can shoot at knows exactly where you are.

2. see also 1.

3. Psychological warefare is also a legit form of warfare. You just have to gind a mind weak enough to exploit. hese forums are probably not the worst place to start looking. B)

Improvise : I don`t have a ppc and can`t afford one /don`t want one, what can I use to counter it? ECM?
LRMs? Gauss? Ac2? LL?

Adapt: He keeps killing me becasue I charge him straight on over open terrain. Maybe I should use cover or walk sideways? ANd I always get killed before I take a single shot becasue he`s ouit of range... maybe I should drop a brawling weapon for somethign with a bit more reach?

Overcome: Combine the 2 for maximum effect and destroy the opposition.

It`s amazing how the most simple statements can apparently thoroughly mindfuck so many people that present themselves as "smart".... The truth is however that you`re not acting smart, but stubborn. B)

*Edit* note also that ALL of these things incorrectly assume you are in a 1 on 8 against 8 poptarts. In reality, there are 7 others in your company to help. Teamwork is your friend, and is massively OP to boot.

Wack-a-mole with mechs. If this is mechwarrior, I'm abandoning the game now. The only people defending this are; 1) people who invested a lot of money in MWO and want to justify their purchase and 2) people playing these game breaking builds and exploiting the crap out of it. And no, you can't have my stuff.

Ok, so this... LORE aside has just gone wacky. I have played the game some months now, love it... Mastered one.. enjoyed it... noticed less kids... stupid talk and really has been a decent experience. Until now. This - Mech Jump Jet in the Air... snipe with PPC's go down is just unreal and stupid at this point. I was in a game with 7 of them. 7... our team was 4 lights, two heavy's and a couple assault's. This was just the worst thing I have seen in the game for some reason so far. It wasn't even fun whatsoever. I just logged out and said forget it. No need to even pay for MC when it's like this. I hate saying this, but I think it is time for the PPC club to be on non-jump jet mechs only. YES I KNOW THE LORE YES I AM OLD AND PLAYED ALL THE OLDER GAMES GOING BACK TO THE FREAKING PAPER/BOOK GAME... so nobody go nuts with the lore crap but we are to a point that this last patch or so changed the game in some tactical fun and gameplay that people won't want to deal with it. I am sad to say I may be one. I am really starting to like the game then this patch came. If this is the direction it won't be long before everyone is a jump jet ppc mech period.

If you are old, and supposedly experienced, then you should know how to handle jj snipers or "poptarters", as it was dubbed.

You should also know that new mechs are overpopulated for the first couple weeks, just like the stalkers were and there massive alpha strikes.

If your attitude is just to stay logged off, then by all means, log off and uninstall. Or deal with the fact that any new release will be spamming the newest mech and strat/.

thread.

The solution to the problem is not to wait until less people play it. Sniping is the norm now, anything else is just for the lolz. Try using lrms against opponent with a combination of ECM and jumpjets. You will not hit them.

Naw, just use some team tactics.
1. Don't be a target.
Hard to snipe a moving target that's behind cover.

2. Take command - Somebody has to.

3. Distraction.
If ya got fast mechs send em straight to the enemy base laugh as half thier team falls back to protect it.

4. Learn the maps - Ya played a million times, so unless yer new ya should know all the high points and choke points by now use em.

5. Flank em - Rank and File tactics died during the Civil War leave em there, and spread out.

6.Psychological Warfare.
Sniping the snipers works wonders seen it dozens of times.

7.Psychological Warfare II.
Talk about thier favorite puppy or something, yeah most noobs will claim they don't read the chat, but we all do ya know it. Mockery works best.

8. If ya lose learn from it.

Interesting.... I' ve invested all of 15 dollars and run either LRM/LL/1x gauss atlases or brawlers. I do not own a single PPC, or jump capable mech.

We must have a different definition of "a lot of money" B)
