That glow was so strong that was like saying "hey I'm here shoot". Now it would be even easier to spot atlases since there's no more long range thermal.

And when you're in critical status, the red light is quite strong so.. it's good as it is now.

I'd love if there was an option to turn the lights on or off, something like cockpit lights. Wouldn't take all that much effort to code it in, now would it?

Different eye colors would also create another MC sink for PGI.

this would work.

I'm pretty sure it's possible to make glow visible just within ~400 meters or so...

The glow is a part of the mech.

Thus you either make the whole mech have a render distance of 400m (which would be funny for Atlases, bt not anyone else) or you make code that makes them a separate object that perfectly follows the Atlas' head.

One can't work in a game and the second one is surely a lot of time and effort that is better put somewhere else.

Turn the Glow back on, then release MC only Atlas sunglasses as the only method of turning them off...

P2W bawwww fest ensues.

tophat and monocle to follow.

well maybe they could code it to turn on only when your targeting a mech thats closer than 200m to you. that way it becomes a pyschological thing.
think about it. your closing down on an enemy atlas shooting at him, then all of a sudden he turns around at you and his eyes light up, it almost looks as if youve pissed him off lol. that would be cool.

Ahh ... no?

Waste of development time. Doesn't impact game play. Won't really be noticed. Doesn't add value to the game. Opportunity to introduce new bugs. Would spawn the whole "me too crowd" requests from other mechs. etc, etc, etc.

Bad ideas are Bad and better left unspoken.

i have the solution to this if pgi is reading.

ok fair enough you can see the red eyes coming a long way away so simply add a toggle for it the same as you do for the cockpit light and missile bay doors. if people choose to have them on then its their own descision

Ahh ... No?

New users would get confused ... turn them on ... die because they got snipped ... and then left the game and never gave any money to PGI.

Also, this is a *team* game, and just cause some window licker wants to run with eyes on and be a target, but also give away the position of the team doesn't mean it's a "good idea".

"Eyes On" is a terrible idea all the way around. Folks thought it was "cool" at first, then people started using their brains and figured out all the different negative aspects of it.

So ... turn on your brain please ... you do have a brain right? please use it for something other then deciding what to have for breakfast.

Handicap? It's an Atlas. It's not like anyone's ever been like "Oh man, if only that Atlas had glowing eyes I might have seen it sneaking up on me!"

Add em back. The Atlas thrives on intimidation factor, and that's what glowing eyes do best.

I would totally love glowing eyes. Anyone who can aim well enough to consistently hit you in them also knows that one of them is your cockpit ;)

Is it really that much of a give away? Serious question.

I'm pretty sure I remember them from closed beta. By the time you were able to notice the lights, you would've been able to identify and fire on the Atlas' head with or without them.

i think it should be an option in game to turn them on or something. if i want to strike fear or just look cool, it looks great in game.

people are running around in pink mechs for crying out loud. what are some of you trying to say??? bright colors ok? but my glow eyes not??

A pink mech at 1000m is still a Black silhouette. An atlas at 1000m was a black silhouette with a glowing "hit here" marker for the cockpit hitbox. Even a n00b like me could hit it with ease, I know because I have.

If we eventually (like in a years or so) get teh chance to have it reimplemented, maybe on a player controlled on-off basis w/or w/o MC colors, great. If not; i can live with matches lasting more than 30 seconds ;)

It would definitely be nice to have cockpit lights of various colours, just so long as we have a way to turn them off.
