A lot of people QQ about capping on assault.

I'm personally ok with it.

BUT - to stop the rage, how about:

Deployable turrets as a new consumable.

Something like: 100 hit-points, 1x med laser. Just enough to stop a light quick capping.

Or.

Don't get so overextended that you can't defend your base.

less consumables.
in fact, remove all the consumables so we can get back to playing mechwarrior and have it stop appealing to the lowest common denominator

First of all I said I don't have a problem with capping personally.

Secondly, it's silly to say "don't over extend" or "defend your base". What are you suppose to do on alpine? Leave 2 mechs back and effectively play the game 6 v 8 if they don't quick cap?

If both teams hung around their base the games would all be stalemates.

We have all capped and laughed, we have all been capped and QQ'd. Don't act like defending the base is easy or something that any team really bothers to do.

I have pugged, 4 manned, 8 manned - over 3,000 games. NOT ONE TIME has anyone ever said anything about defending the base other than lights go back if capped.

Again - I have no real problem with assault capping. But maybe it would be better if you didn't have to worry about a light or 2 flanking and capping - x2 on the large maps.

They already said they will be adding infantry platoons, tanks, and helis as consumable calldowns.

Even better then turrets!

Not OP at all, can't imagine how 8 different MLas being dropped by a team with the combined hit points greater than the CT's of a half dozen Atlai would be OP...

Nice idea but 100-hit points? That's just 3-5 alphas for a lot of lights. They would destroy the turrent WHILE capping.

I have no problem with this.

Not that it would affect me much though, just snipe the turret at 1500m and then cap.

Don't all bunch up in one place, send lights and speedy mediums to secure your flanks and scout. You know, standard cavalry tactics. And when Betty says the bad guys are taking your stuff, return to defend it.

It's not rocket surgery.

The consumable base defence turret idea is horrible, however.

Not these Turrets. The Mark IX Medium Laser Turret has a new Tech, found in a Brian Cache some years back, incorporated into it. This Tech allows the Mark IX to stay on full Beam intensity for extended periods (hours) and once it locks a target, tests reveal that it can track and lock targets traveling at 400kph, that lock will only end with the destruction of the locked target. :)

If you have an interesting in buying any Mark IX Medium Laser Turrets for your Bases, please drop by K_town as the demo truck and crew will be passing through Soontm

:)

If they give us decent turrets all will be forgiven. I want to be able to strip off all my weapons and just be a turret layer.

Ever think that airstrikes and artillery ARE anti-cap tools? Not the most effective ones, sure, but they're better than losing a teammate in the middle of a firefight, and you only have to have line-of-sight to your own cap to use them.

This strategy works when you have a full 8-Man
and know what is being run before the match.
For PUGing though, it is difficult to know
what other Mechs are going to be on your team.
Of course, while PUGing, the odds of anybody
having this consumable would be fairly small.

The only consumable we need is the Urbanmech Drop Pod.

It should play Mariachi music on the way down
to properly strike fear into the hearts of the
opposing forces.

While I agree with you, it is not going to happen. Consumables are here to stay.
