I think the Golden Age will come when CW rolls around.

That will change all, it will be a poptarding fest for a greater purpose.

You mean when gauss and medium/small lasers were the only weapons, besides streaks? I do remember.

Well, but back then it was ONLY brawl, and that was the only option. That was boring too. The pendulum swung and now it's only long range.

I think the heat penalties have merit and should be seriously considered, to limit the boating of PPCs, and also alpha pinpoint striking.

I ran out of ammo on my Gauss yager and as the last man on my team alive ended up trying to hump a centurion to death.

Does that count?

Seriously EASY to repair...buff back the LRM's/SRM's and you have a decent brawl.... Include a valid NARC plus have BAP actually roll back this seriously STUPID ECM manure....and whamo...sniper campers stop camping and are FORCED to run and shoot...and BRAWL...again.

We reap what we sow...

You mean when Forest Colony was the only map and all we did was brawl and get trolled by 200kph invulnerable lights? Oh, yah, don't forget the xml hacks where people put AC/20s on their commandos and stupid **** like that, too.

Golden days those were not. They were hella fun, sure, but we've come a long ways.

My good ol days in an online mechwarrior game requires me going back to the original AOL Mechwarrior.

While I enjoyed the single player ones that came after the fact. I've yet to find a multiplayer version that i feel has gotten it right.

The good 'ole days weren't that good as I recall.
Things have certainly gotten better since then,
though there is still much room for improvement...

Point being, I don't think we have seen the Golden Age yet.

We still have boom jagers that are faster and more accurate.

They are just the only viable brawler left.

Cause SRMs are dead weight

They can still do that, if a mech sneaks up behind you,

You're Dead

And its Your Fault

Everyone thinks of A1s, but the SRM nerf hurt mediums more than anything

Yeah, the golden age when the forums were aflame with people calling the game a skill-less brawl-fest of circle-of-death that they hated? There is still brawling, you just have to play to get it.

Or, hey, consider that EVERY assault mech is built stock for long range combat, or a mix of long and short... Hmmm.. maybe the giant slow robot isn't supposed to ONLY brawl...
