I get more annoyed when my team caps and we are tearing the enemy team a new one...

More of an annoyed. Posts like yours demonstrate the sheer stupidity of mankind and do nothing to help any of the issues.

""As I said above... So, my team has 4 lights and 4 assaults, and yours (in this ridiculously assaut heavy tourny weekend) has 5 assaults and 3 heavies (because who uses mediums anymore). You're seriously bitching that my team decided to win via cap rather than be butchered handily? If one team has a significant lack of tonnage, they have speed. It's their best option to win in that circumstance, and most people would rather win by cap than get rolled - particularly the ones in the lights that aren't going to get a lot of c-bills and xp from damage done."""
(quoting system bug? lol)

You're wrong there. Capping should only be used as a last ditch effort. Don't cap right away. What if the tanky team is bad? and cant aim for ****? you have a chance of killing them by damage. And if your spider takes a half an hour with a large laser you're the one that sucks here. Im saying that every mech in the game should at least try to fight. Ive seen some teams not take one shot and win by back capping.

To the guy who said "you cant hit stuff cause theres a pole"

with 1-Gauss Rifle, 4 tons ammo, and 2-Large Lasers and NO jump jets. I get on the high ground and snipe almost the entire map of tourmaline and even alpine, though alpine is a bit harder.

There is no magic pole blocking every shot, yes a small light mech can hide behind cover when hes getting hit from 1000m from my gauss rifle, then i just say

TEAM: There is a almost dead mech at EPI someone fast go finish him off, and guess what they do it, sometimes they dont

sometimes we win the game, sometimes we lose the game.

I'm talking about the cap station pole thing whatever the hell it is.

I wouldnt be suprised if you will see alot more people capping and see teams of 5-6 lights that will only go for a cap.
Iam a new player so i probably talk **** right now but, the current metagame seems like people only play Sniper mechs that are relative slow. So to win a game easily you just take their base and win the game.

You are pissed off? Because people cap your base?
Well maybe they are pissed off, because people only play ERPPC boats and games become sniperfests.
I dont think these people enjoy these games as much as a good ol fight, but they enjoy it more then a snipingfest.

If people get sick of the capping and it takes overhand some people will start to play more light hunters and take care of it, and when more light appear people will adapt to them.

Well thats my opinion on it.

If I am in one of my lights and I know the other team is mostly larger mechs I will cap immediately.

If that makes you angry then good. Hopefully that makes you play worse.

If you walk your big stompy atlas over to stop me alone I will either kill you or run off and wait to see if you walk off again. If you stay put I will go help my team. If you move I will recap. Either way I get the win or at the least get a larger mech out of the fight.

It's called role warfare.

People that do not def, do not return to base when its being capped, only run assault or slowass builds deserve to be basecapped in 10/10 games.

Really man you cant possibly argue this point when an entire team of assaults on alpine cant even move to the nearest local point while two enemy lights snag all the flags and do 0 damage the entire round. We can either sit at base and lose or move to epsilon and lose or move to theta and lose, its totally not possible with the current matchmaker to "win" against some of the combinations.

When you see the OTHER team bitching at their own members to stop capping and fight you know its an issue, even on smaller maps terrible light pilots run off and cap while their team faces outnumbered odds, many seem to be under the impression they are useless but little do they know a well placed light pilot in the middle of a brawl completely turns the tide of a battle.

And dont give me that "I'll get one shot" crap, keep moving, never stop, I waste TONS of heat trying to hit good lights that do not stop and do not run directly at or away from me in a strait line. Highlanders and stalkers, the two most whined about PPC tossers, all have very slow turn speed and are very easy to core in the back if you catch them away from their team which is 90% of the time due to cockiness or cover snipeing, a good light mech shuts down a skilled sniper no problem, you try hitting someone point blank with ppc's moving 150kph, theres a serious luck factor and a lot of hope.

I just play random game type matchs but I have to agree getting capped during an assault tourny in a conquest match by a couple lights during a good heated battle is a huge waste of everyones time, same thing on assault matchs, with maps that size capping against no opposition is just boring, grow some big Jenner snow globes like Mr. Wispers and put some damn damage on the board.

The OP is the main reason I cap. I know he doesn't want to face me, so I'm not going to bother to chase his silly *** all around the map. If he wants to fight me he can come back to his base to do so.

Because he knows he'll lose to me at his base, he avoids it. This ticks him off to no end. Again this is why I cap. He will be mad enough to lose any sort of focus he had at the beginning of the match. This makes him an easy target for my teammates to pick off.

I'm the one that moves in and out of an enemy base so Betty keeps saying "Base is being captured" over and over and over. I WANT the enemy to know I'm there. They can fight me if I dare.

Cheap tactic? Maybe. But what are they going to do about it?

Lose?
Whine?
Fight?

Either way I win.

Yes this is a symptom of the fact that the game is objectively not fun - boring in fact.

remember that awesome new game mode? Oh yeah, actually it was the same as the old one except with 5 capture points instead of 2.

Alpine is broken, cant argue that. My problem is that people dont move back (on the other maps) even if they could.

There's an option if you don't like sitting at your base guarding it. Move out as far as you can manage to get back in time when someone is capping and let them come to you. On both Alpine and Tourmaline a 80 kph fast mech can make it back in time from any lineup spot. I observe in most of the games where my team gets capped that no one is starting to move back. Especially the campers don't want to leave.

Or a crazy idea. How about playing lights yourself if you get annoyed by capping. If you play a light yourself for a while you'll learn to think like a light. You'll know all their routes. Or even more crazy: Play a Medium aka the counter to lights. Mediums are rare so yeah lights have an easy time capping.

There's not much options for those who play lights these days. They can't brawl with bigger mechs anymore so they will do anything else to contribute and win a match.

Sorry but all those complains about base capping sounds to me like they're coming from guys driving Assaults only or Jump Snipers. Moving to their sweet spot on the map where they can easily dish out lots of damage without risking to get any serious damage themselves and just shot down anything that gets close. Too lazy to leave their spot for cappers. QQ in the froums because a bunch of people found an easy way to counter this trend.

@Jazzbandit1313

Capping is a valid tactic to win. Just accept it and plan accordingly. Or when CW starts you can explain to Lyran High Command how your Steiner Scout Lance lost to a Spider. :P

So lemme get this straight.

Everyone's driving an assault and bitching about it. Then a few glorious smartasses are running around capping and it's making the assaults mad and they don't want to drive smaller mechs to deal with it because everyone's driving an assault.

Please, tell me more.

Cry me a river. Build a bridge, and get over it.

Capping is fine, L2P.

XP and CBills are irrelevant for mostly everyone, as they come in very fast and there is not much to spend them. Only wins count. And capping is a fine way to win.

Heh, experienced players who don't care about the tournament are trolling assault players this weekend.

You chose assault mode so you could avoid the whole mobile warfare aspect of the game.

Lights/Cicadas chose assault mode so they could run around behind you and cap your base just to make you angry.

Also, it's incredibly easy to hit lights now with big ballistics and ppcs, giving them zero incentive to stay in your field of view. Lacking anything better to do, they go and cap you.

- Have someone guard base.
*good point but no one wants to stay back and sit there. Also, most team mates will question you for sitting back and doing "nothing"

The game includes alternate objectives to prevent everyone from just going for the heaviest mechs possible. If people don't want to take advantage of the counter being offered, that's their problem. Not everything can come down to a brawl. That's a boring game, too. There aren't a lot of other viable counters to consider.

If you don't want to stay back by yourself (and I don't blame you), keep your team there with you for the first three minutes. Mark my words, you will almost ALWAYS get one or two enemy lights going for the quick cap. Just yesterday, in the first minute of a match, I saw some genius in a Death's Knell run up the middle on River City to our base and try to solo-cap. Unfortunately for him, I had kept my entire team there. He got legged with someone's AC/20 (thank you devs!) and promptly pulverized.

Or another time last month, my team and I were dropping on Frozen City Night, and for some reason we were almost all in Stalkers. It was late, we were getting silly, and someone got the bright idea of just piling into the base and shutting down. After just two minutes, sure enough, a lone spider with delusions of grandeur shows up and settles down into our base, then turns around and spots the six Stalkers rousing themselves just 50m away. You could visibly see him freak out in his Mech. I can't even describe what that looks like, but it happened. We weren't able to take him down, but I can still hear his screams as he vanished over the nearest snowdrift, Spider limbs flailing. We laughed until our sides ached. And then won the match.

Trust me, base-guarding as a team can actually be quite fun. I could tell you many stories like this. And the immediate numbers advantage you get from it, can only work in your favor.

Funniest thing about that picture is that they're double trolling. One, they're deliberately capping with fast ecm mechs. Two, they're using the most skill-free variant of any mech in the game to do so.

Bravo. My girlfriend doesn't let me play my 3L because it drops my testosterone level too low, but for those guys I'm sure having their girlfriends complain isn't an issue. :P

Yep, that's me trolling the trolls.
