Ok; remember at its release the Awesome was one of the most successful Battle Mech Builds of all time at the beginning and in to the new era of Battle Mech Design and deployments. So successful that the Clan's had to make a counter for this Awesome Battle Mech. A Battle Mech that can stand on it's own.

Weapon Great
Modules Great
Speed Great
Variants Great
Looks Great

Awesome needs some work on the armor or hit box it still dies to easy for 80 Tons.
Armor or Hit-boxes needs tweaking maybe make more hit-boxes to spread damage I don't know but I am sure the Dev can come up with something.

PS but when I drive any of my 4 I feel it's really close to being were it should be your thoughts?

PGI's new wonder child the Stalker killed it. Exact same kind of weapons only better in every way. And for ***** and giggles it has the profile of a heavy.

The CT should be a bit thinner for sure.

But look on the bright side. Since no one will ever shoot your ST because your CT is the size of a gaggle of Atlases, you can safely pack XL engines.

Not really. The awesome have huge torsos, period. It's very unfair.

You will still die even if you have double amount of armor, maybe changing play style?

The Awesome was designed as long range fire support mech, being long range, it was long way from it's intended targets, making it, from the targets point of view, look very small...

The fact that it's as wide as a very wide thing up close, and people seem intent on putting lot's of closer range weapons on it, are you surprised it's easy to hit????

for the same reason the stalker is so good. the awesome is bad.

the stalker has a tiny front profile. andthe awesome has an enormous one.
the stalker at 85 tons is standing toe to toe in the torney against the 95-100 tonners. Actually its leading.
But the 80 ton awesome is 2k points behind.

Please look at size for balance. (nerf the stalker it doesn't make sense for it to be so small)

since i don't think they will shrink the awesome. I think they should give it a higher engine restriction

they realy need to consider the mech sizes in respect to balance. when the stalker came out everybody complained that it was too small.

mediums also took a huge hit. they are way too big for their tonnage. and are disadvantaged by being easier to hit than they shoudl be. esp the cent and treby

All awesomes should have the ability to pull off the honey badger. Its time to start seeing those high speed 4xSrm6 AwS-8R's again.

I'll be a jerk and say, "lrn2drive" and then I'll say, "lrn2optimizeyourbuild".

But then I'll hate myself for writing like an internet tool and I"ll just say that it is a damned hard mech to learn and an even harder mech to master. The Awesome was built and designed as a long range fire support mech. Unlike the Stalker, which was built for the same purpose, it lacks the weapon hard points and the sleaker front end design to switch up to a brawler. So, you need to learn to drive the Awesome like you're Light Weight Boxer. You set up, fire, and move. You don't sit in one spot for long and you need to constantly hug the terrain to minimize your succeptability to taking fire. If you fail to do any of that, you will lose.

O, rly? Barn-sized mech with low-mounted weapons and HUGE torso/arm twist angles are.. Long range? And Stalker with laughable twis angles supposed to be close-ranged mech, yea.

The 8T has 5 Energy and 2 Missile. The 8R has 4 Missile and 3 Lasers.

Unfortunately there's not much that can be done to change the Awesome being a bad mech given current rules re: hitbox/armor/etc. Maybe it should just get a couple of ballistic hardpoints.

I primarily run an Awesome. Just recently I picked up a Stalker to see what all the fuss was about. The survivability seems significantly better than the Awesome. I don’t care for the handling of the Stalker however. The lack of arms and limited torso movement makes it feel much more sluggish. The hit boxes do seem like they need to be evened out a bit. I hesitate to suggest adding armor, as I think the armor values seem to be in line with what a mech of this size should be.

If you want to play your Awesome at close range, you really should invest in a 300 XL. Also, make sure you have speed tweak for added speed - You'll be as fast as stock Hunchbacks, Jagermechs, and Catapults. The extra speed does help at any range. I run a 300 XL in my 4 PPC AWS-8Q, and it does wreck stuff through peek-a-boo games. I pass through terrain back and forth, and I hit the other guy with 4 PPCs at any chance I get.

It anything, the Awesome plays like a Centurion. You use the arm with the hand on it as a shield. Fire your weapons, twist hand arm toward fire to absorb damage, then aim and fire again.

Also realize that the Awesome, for all intents and purposes, is more of a heavy 'mech than an assault 'mech, just because it doesn't mount much more armor than a Cataphract or the upcoming Orion.

Is a Stalker mentioned anywhere in my post?

Anyhoo, not to pull apart your point too much...the Awesome has a large torso twist, surely this would lend itself to the mobile long range support it was designed for...

Whoops haven't run them since beta thanks. Oh and to above you don't tend to need a wild amount of torso twist at long range. Adjusting your aim is a matter of a couple degrees against a target at 600 meters. Its close range while you're shooting at someone speedy you want good twist.
