you people need to be more grateful. this was an informal "leak" by bryan himself through his own twitter. it would not have been posted at all if the appropriate channels were used. since its an incomplete map

Because other websites don't post concepts or sneak peaks... Do you even play video games?

It is not being ungrateful to ask that they keep their latest news section filled with news on the game. After all, MWO has an in game tip to check http://mwomercs.com/ for the latest but this is not always the case. I don't care if the info comes 1st from Facebook, Twitter, MWO homepage, etc...I would just like the info on MWO easy accessible across all official MWO sources.

This.

The tool-tip should at least be accurate. PGI/IGP is free to use whatever venue they want in whatever manner they please, naturally, but the in-game tool tip that claims this website is the place for all the "latest news and information" is disingenuous.

Where are we now? On this website? Is it here? Looks like it...

Only because it was pulled from Twitter and posted by a player.

cuz its so damn hard to check the forums. the world doesnt cater to you. PGI has a set banner rotation. new mechs/new heroes/xpweekends/discounts/torneys. Developer screenshots of work in progress maps happen to not be on the list.

They also need to do press releases to strengthen relationships with media. Its a part of doing business in the gaming industry. it wouldn't be an exclusive if it showed on this website before the media shows it.

news is news be grateful it all eventually ends up here on the forums. and i'll be damned if it doesn't get here withing 5 minutes of release

I'm sorry, I thought they were trying to sell a product. Generally conveying features to your product is a function of that and it should be released from a single easily accessible source. Telling potential/existing customers they have to dig through forums or follow every developer's tweets on the team is asinine.

should we get more news? yes. that is always a good thing.

does that mean when we do get news we ***** about the format in which it was given to us? no. And if Bryan E doesn't want to post on this website i can completely understand why

there are ungrateful whiny people like these around

When "Canyon" is officially added in a patch, or announced, I am sure it will be listed here on the official website.

Should a developer wish to give out additional tidbits of information in other ways, then that is their prerogative. Giving an exclusive look to fansite, leaking bits on twitter, or easter eggs are nothing new in the industry.

Cheers.

Why don't they just create a copy of all the maps we have right now but rotate all of our drop points counter clock wise by 1.

Then you at least develop new paths and fight in different areas than you normally do at the very least for base defense.

Maps are designed for movement from specific directions. A lot of time has actually been spent on them to keep it (relatively) fair between the two drop points. Shifting the points but not modifying the map can create wild imbalances.

I would like to see extended mission types with clear objectives. I could see how this may work in terms of CW and having to fight a 'campaign' of missions to take planets and perhaps even disrupt Cbills and other incomes. Yeah, sounds tough to do but it isn't if you look at the 'board game' approach and treat CW in that sense.

i'm diggin this trend of getting sneak peaks from bryan

just find it funny, since almost everyone wants to paint the guy as the worst thief and liar, yet the guy just keeps plugging away like the giddy little Battletech fanboy he is. I can respect that, since it's pretty much damned if you do, damned if you don't no matter what the Devs say.

WTF! This needs to be on this website. People need a single source of info otherwise this game is going to look like a rottening corpse as it is.
One would hope so and it would make too much sense. Sadly, we are here and involved. It's somehow the Twitter generation's time to shine. So the developers go there to communicate and promote because that is the type of people they want to get involved. People that aren't Founders, on the forums, currently into Mechwarror, or even know that Battletech exists. That's the long game.

So that leaves us old men playing Twitter stalker.
