This was done with purpose. They don't want to have a community anymore. Too many displeased customers telling others why they are upset.
PGI it was the Core players that put up the 5 million to build this game.
Now that you got their cash you telling them all to FICKOFF if you don't like it,Oh i can see the tweets now and the forum boads.
PGI you just steep in it up to your eyeballs.

You type that as if it's a bad thing.
The loss of rage isn't the bad thing in and of itself (though every now and then the community's upset is actually warranted) but rather that they are throwing out the baby with the bathwater- to get rid of the rage, they are also getting rid of the only useful forum.
All of the other specialized subforums get almost no traffic. This isn't because nobody cares about the things that were posted in there, but rather because it's a huge hassle to have to find threads you are interested in scattered about ten forums. The results of this change will not be to have the same thread volume and quality, just divided among six new forums; the results will be to cull most of the posts altogether.

Well i certainly won't be spending the time to navigate through all the sub forums to find threads worth posting in. Cluttering the forum with large numbers of sub-forums increases the effort in finding interesting topics hugely.
but well you are roadbeer, rose tinted glasses doesn't even begin to describe your bias in all honesty :|

For that matter, there was more than one interesting discussion which was jettisoned in the clean-up.
Not a fan of this choice.

I cant think of another forum for a game or any subject that has removed its own general discussion section

You know what for some resin to me that seem something that could happen.
PGI is dumping its core user bases ,after all that's how EA games works.
it would seem that's the MO when EA gets its hands on game.

I'm still playing, and in the end, that's all that matters.

I have to admit it's working, so far. I'm very annoyed by the change (especially since I was in the middle of posting in a discussion in general when the whole general section was deprecated). However, I just can't find the energy to invest more than a few sentences in protest. I guess these guys don't like the kind of discussions that take place about their game, but apparently the solution is for them is to just try to herd the discussion into tidy little containers they can deal with. Whatevs, PGI.

Is burying your head in the sand a sound practice?
Most complaints are not unfounded.
Raging is never useful and just makes you look like a silly person. You claiming that's me burying my head under the sand doesn't change that. Write something useful instead of letting your emotions essentially write nothing.
As for the forum sections, it just means it'll be less of a swamp of everything and you know where to look if you want to discuss something specific. Off-topic forums are still here, it's pretty much what general discussion already was.

For the introspective moron with no business sense, I would suspect nothing else.

They are so quick to respond to good discussion and topics.
You have 1k posts but have not noticed they only respond to something when the entire forum fills with rage?
I mean they even said as much in one of the ATDs, that they don't usually worry about something until the forums trend to the same thing.
