So nice move getting rid of general chat. Sorta like ripping the vocal cords out of a political enemy who you want silenced. Most of us are smarter then you guys think and it's very obvious that was the reason this was done.

All of the old general discussion stuff has either been moved to a new home that now categorises what it's talking about, or is in the general discussion archive. You can't start any more discussions under the completely non-specific tag of "general discussion", but you can under quite a few new subforums that will handily provide context for your thread.

You're right, it is obvious why this was done. It allows people find discussions of relevant content more easily, including the devs. It enhances our ability to communicate with each other and the devs.

Wow you actually fell for and believe that? Every single game has a general forum unless they are trying to hide something or don't like the way the conversations are going. Even world of Warcraft, with a player base in the millions has general discussion. If they can moderate it with their large fan base, then pgi should easily be able to moderate the 300 people that still play this game.

many of us have had far more direct communication with devs and staff since the change. before it was at best rare to see any of them post in a thread and even then it was to end some horrible bit of misinformation.

now i regularly see them pop up in the suggestions forum and even somewhat in the gameplay balance section. i like it now because i see solid evidence that shows they are paying attention. for the first time i have ever seen on these forums there is some 2 way communication. if we had to carve off the gangrenous limb that was general discussion for that, then i consider it a more than fair trade.
