Are we talking overall overall, as in "Catapult for half a year until very recently"? Or overall in the current "all PPCs all poptarts/ridgehumpers all round all day" metagame?

If you fixed the Streak CT splash damage issue THEN I would say a Cicada 2A would rock the house. But until then ... nope.

AS7-D-DC.

Currently it is the equivalent of the final boss of MWO.

Is it really all that great? Why?

It's good, but people only call it the best because it has ECM.

The RS and the D are better killing machines IMO.

I have to say, I'm surprised to see the Catapult as high up as it is right now. I guess it has been pretty good in the past, and hopefully will be good again in the future, but at the moment missiles are borked and the other stuff it does well is done better by other mechs.

A fellow brother, beset by the blessing/burden of having the Death Snail as thy best mech. If I can do well in it, it must be good. Right? Right!?

Didn't they already nerf at least one Cent so that it cannot fire all of it's srms in one burst, but gets that wimpy partial trickle?

Yeah, the CN9-A (I think) with 3x SRM6 fires in two bursts. It's not too bad, you just need to stay on target for a little while longer.

Judging by the number of "nerf it" threads it's Catapult.

The only reason this poll's votes are spread all over is obviously just because the Timber Wolf isn't in-game yet.

ECM is king. Along with the amount of firepower and armor and PRESENCE it brings to the fight.

No ECM light can hope to dance around a D-DC and escape unscathed.

Voted Cataphract - Versatile heavy mech with several good chassis, speed and build options.

The 3D isn't the only nasty phract you can run into.

Cataphracts are also fun to blow up because you can reasonably hit any of their hitboxes.

Yeah, but the low-slung weapons (most of them, on most variants) means that if given the choice...

every single aspect of the catapult has demanded nerfs/qq threads for weeks on end. First ssrm builds, then gauss builds, then srm builds, then lrm builds. I'd put atlas second, but there are soooo many bad atlas builds (lrm "support" or snipers) for example that it has never attracted the same heat. Stalker in 3rd just for having a ridiculous amount of weapon slots.

Catapult held its crown for as long as I played in closed beta, there was a brief blip when ECM was introduced, but by the following week "OMG nerf srms!!!!?!" threads were popping up everywhere. gauss never really lost its place either, just that it wasn't unique in carrying two heavy ballistics.

Aha, the Atlas has edged out the Catapult. Interesting...

I always liked the idea of the Atlas, but in practice...

At first I ended up picking the Awesome- the first thing I did (mind you, this was pre-DHS) was cram 6 ppcs onto one. It was fun as hell- and once I got Heat Containment and Cool Run it wasn't too bad... of course, this was also LONG before all of the various lag tweaks, so... yeah... :(

Still, back then you could run an Awesome that was an omgwtf fast srm6 + mlas boat. Then they nerfed things a bit, but it was still a decent Mlas boat. Then they nerfed things a bit more, and... well... I moved on.

Then the Stalker came out, and the Awesome was pretty much dead to me.

Whats the attraction of the ATlas now that there are other assaults with so much moar dakka?
