And yes, you have always been a troll, the difference is you used to actually "appear" to troll for effect. Now it seems like you do it simply for the sake of.

You keep saying that about myself and others... Don't you find it odd that we're still doing what we've always done, just now you're on the receiving end of it?

Does that say more about us or you?

I'm going to leave this topic now, because I think it's a good one and I don't want it to get moderated down to K Town.
It appears that when I have an opinion, it can't be argued against sans ad hominem So, who's the real trolls? :D

Good lord,

Um, Christianity was a "weird cult" around 2000 years ago. Just sayin'

It's nice to know the Moderators have their own pet trolls though, isn't it?

It is much nicer. I'm done doing some minor trolling now. Back to bigger fish to fry and meatball parm for lunch in 20 minutes. :D

Well I had no option but to vote for "LESS! (Find them more difficult to find stuff, get answers, etc..)"

And this was demonstrated by the fact I kept looking at general discussion for the last 2 days and wondering why the same threads were still there.........

I have a look at the forums when I have 5 minutes spare in the office, to see what theme's are currently trending in MWO... As much as GD was just a bunch of complaint threads, it was good to be able to see what people were complaining about and keep up to date with everything.

I simply do not have the time or the inclination to scour 10 different sections to find out what's going down :)

I definitely do not like the new organization. I think the removal of the general forum in particular was a bad idea. I've run a number of professional and hobby forums in my day and I have rarely encountered anything quite this cluttered, non-intuitive, disorganized, overly-segregated, and purposefully limited.

That's not a whine, just a professional opinion.

I still find it an irritating forum style to follow on a personal level, this is less a place to hang out are more an information repository.

Yes, this is a really good way to put it. If I'm seeking something very specific and I know where I'll likely find it, the new forum structure is great. But that's about 5% of the time I spend in the forums (ie. looking for good chassis-specific builds, etc). For the 95% of the time that I'm not seeking information, I'm just hanging out. It ends up being about philosophy as much as anything: what do you believe the forums are meant to be for? PGI's philosophical stance, from what we can tell, is "forums as information repositories" whereas those of us taking issue with this are of the position that forums are about community first.

All PGI wants is (DA MONEY)and they don't want any feedback from the new or old communities there web rating is like -50 on liking the game or the direction it is going that's why they have split the forums up so much there afraid of there player base and all the positive or negative feedback. I personally think PGI is just milking out the MechWarrior community till they quit paying then they will dump the servers and the players and fans. Im sorry but the game just plain sucks its to repetitive and boring and there is no chat lobby's or private matches so best advise just move on to a funner game.

MWO is not WarZ. They aren't going to just take your money and dump the servers. This game is doing fine, it just needs more time. They are hiring on additional staff to help work through the volume of fixes and new material they want to implement. Just be patient. Full launch has not arrived yet.

Oddly enough, I think I've posted more frequently since the new layout than before, but most of it is posting my discontent. I also believe they didn't factor in the "lurking" element, those that don't necessarily contribute but still like to visit to get quick info from the community.

This is in the Suggestion sub-section so here is my Suggestion - BRING BACK THE GENERAL DISCUSSION.

If I want to provide constructive criticism or feedback and don't have an actual suggestion because I don't work in the software or game industry, and I just want my voice heard, say, about how slow I think PGI is releasing content, where would I put that post? The Mechs sub-forum? Or, if I have filed numerous bug tickets on the HUD issues, and I want to express my displeasure at how it has affected my gameplay, where would I put that? The Loadouts sub-forum? If I want to express that I think it is ridiculous that I can't drop with 5 or 6 people and have to try and sync drop instead, in what sub-forum would that go? Tactical Debriefing sub-forum? Or if I just want to make my voice heard about any topic at all vaguely about the game in general, because I am part of the community and want the community to hear what I have to say as well as PGI, where would that go in your new forums, PGI? The Pilots Ready Room sub-forum?

I'm still trying to wrap my head around them removing General. Doesn't every other forum in existence have a General section? I mean I love organization to unrealistic heights but not having a General just leaves me with no idea what board to go to and less inclination to even come here.

you people do realize that these forums are owned and maintained by the developers right? i am pretty sure none of us signed any sort of contract or are paying any rent.

it is their house they get to decide if and when they want to move the furniture. from the majority of what i have seen coming from the "displaced" people of the general forums, i don't blame them for removing it. from what i have seen so far i don't doubt that the majority of what was on the general forums was a waste of server space.

you are not displaced victims. this is their house. we are guests.

this will likely get me flamed and hated from every angle, but if i can get even one person to wake up and realize how absurd this is, then i call it a victory.

I suppose it depends on whether you think the forums is part of the product or a bonus feature.

If it is part of the product, then all the MC purchases people make would, I assume, mean they are indeed paying for the forums and not simply guests.

If it is a bonus feature, then it doesn't really matter what we think. But why would you invite people into your house and then purposefully rearrange your house in the most displeasing way to the people you invited over?

Also, no matter what, the forums cost someone money to keep up, and I don't think the money paying for them is coming from the Royal Canadian Free Forum society. My guess it is factors into PGI's budget, where we the customer are the primary source of income.

Its so that newcomers to the site have to really search to find the QQing threads that used to dominate general Discussion.

So if they don't like the forums, why support them at all? Cut them, save money and let some third party site pick them up--it's not like the official forums were being used as the primary news and feedback source, after all. Who wins by reorganising them into a format that the majority of posters seem to dislike? Nobody, far as I can see.
