I have been very shamed by proxy of all the immature negative feedback on Artemis.

A criticism is worthless to a company when expressed in an immature and non-constructive manner. You can be against something if you like, but for the love of f*cking it sideways, be at the least mature and respectful.

Otherwise you just come off as entitled, spoiled and disrespectful.

This has been a rare lapse in an otherwise solid community. To those who did not fall into such mannerisms, you have my respect. To everyone else, buck the f*ck up. There's nothing wrong with PGI and Razer running a promotion. And there's nothing wrong with you not getting anything out of it.

I think I love you.

This community is great, but in the past few hours, I saw the ugly gamer side that is usually associated with other games.

The control looks nice to me. The only thing that would bother me (if I was in the market and I'm not) is that it doesn't look like it is going to be modular. It really needs to be able to split into three pieces so the player can position them as they see fit.

It has already been confirmed to be modular.

I think they should get troll of the year award a damn controller thats probably $150

Try double that.

That being said I'm very very happy to see joystick support being taken seriously for this game. While I'd have rather had a dual joystick setup with a Free-reticle, this if the price-point is right is an acceptable compromise, given there are pedals that tie into it later. I've never been a fan of Rudder twist for the torso and have always used the rudder pedals to steer and the joystick to control the torso.

I apologize if you read my comment as universalizing characteristics about the forum user base. I didn't mean to sound as if I was describing the entire community, rather only those many who posted the flood of 'LOL PGI trolled us' and more lengthy reactions denoting extreme disappointment about the controller announcement not being whatever they hoped it would be.

I just checked whole thread theres literlly 2 post that was contained in one sentence with words "trolled us".Remember that MWO fanbase is made of a lot older gamers than other franchises , and a lots of us already burned on other hypertrain PR strategies made by other game devs/publishers.

Btw i just remembered it was RAZER that made "PC Gaming is Not Dead" hype and then they released ultra expensive laptop...

I like everything about this concept except for the joystick itself. Spring and plate centering has been tried many times with Saiteks offerings, and it always results in a huge center detent. Not so bad for WW2 flight sims where most of your time dogfighting is spent off-zero, but for 'Mech games, where most of your time is spent at or near zero, it'd adversely effect accuracy.

Everything else I dig. The thumb throttle that some seem to have issue with? I dig it. Reduced footprint, and is still effective. Screen? Beautiful. I wish it incorporated a built-in keyboard a la CH Products Reaper trainer (http://www.chproduct...13-p-123.html#5), perhaps in a slide-out thing from underneath the screen. If the screen was multitouch for zooming the map in and out (and other non-MWO tasks) it'd be even better.

But the joystick itself? Kills it for me. I'll never go back to a spring and plate system.

It would be better if the color wasn't so... dull. Why faded army green? It doesn't even match the in-game cockpit's color.

might be better if it was charcoal grey or brushed gunmetal. ...even if it was black glossy, I would be interested since my computer, mouse, monitor, and keyboard are all black and grey.

Otherwise it would look like an outdated joystick sat on the wrong desk.

For someone preaching maturity and respect, you certainly do condescend with some colorful language.

If you take it as condescension for me to express my disapproval of the immature "bickering" and non-constructive criticism, it would seem to me that you have an inferiority complex that you're imposing on the situation.

Everyone is entitled to their non-productive "How dare you release just a joystick; you owe me more" commentary; my opinion is that I'm shamed to hear such childishness.

Am I the only guy who really wants one? :'(

No I seriously want one and will more than likely purchase it, but here is the thing it will be hated by those who either don't like them or can't afford them...ergo anyone who likes or owns one is hated to...that is just how gamers are.

Also my advice is to add everyone that showed their *** on this thread to your ignore list...it will save dealing with idiocy later.

Anything gamers can't afford they label as a gimmick and automatically hate it, that has been my experience from being in this hobby for almost thirty years.

You shouldn't call people peasants or mock people religiously.

As for exposing yourself, I could go either way.

Anyways, b*tchslapping-ly obvious sarcasm aside, tell us how YOU feel about Artemis.

I will be getting one, for testing, and/or for hacking into my own Pod, if it does prove to be a viable product. Plus, I'm a Battletech/Mechwarrior Fanboy Through And Through and thus, I must buy it. (/me holds his NIB Crescent Hawks Revenge Game w/ Lapel Pin)

I am all for constructive criticsim. And I DO think the Artemis Hype was Warranted. I think it is HUGE in terms of the gaming community. When was the last time ANYONE made ANYTHING that was Mechwarrior Specific? Seriously. "You trolled US?" What did you all really expect?

Coming from someone who has tried to patent a few inventions, get them through R&D, then into Production. Just getting a working prototype that looks this good, and is even SEMI-Functional, is a giant step. Especially for a small company such as PGI. Getting partnership together with one of the largest "High End" Peripheral manufacturers BEFORE Game Launch? It's a huge success. To those who cannot see this, please, open your eyes. The world might might not be enough for you, but this is something a lot of people have been yearning for.

I still would like to see some Community Mod Capabilities, rather than having to write my own from scratch.

Congratulations PGI/Razer! I HOPE this goes into Production!

ah yes, this joystick that has an LCD hud attached to it is not a gimmick, because it does the following things your ingame hud does not;

- look cool
- 'yo dawg' meme joke here
-???

Could use a couple more buttons on that thing...
...With backlights and intuitive icon design.
At least that's what I had in mind when I heard there was a MechWarrior Online peripheral in development.
