It'll only appeal to the ultra-dedicated MW fans, I think, most of whom are older folks with disposable income. This means low volume sales, plus the fancy hardware like the integrated screen... the price tag won't be pretty!

but, hype?
what hype? a couple of posts about Artemis coming and a countdown and a puzzle?
Most of the hype came from you and me...
The Devs left us to our own about what artemis was and we conjured many things from missile control systems to the Cyclops mech. Dont blame them for hype. Their job is to sell this game to as many users as possible and if they get a boon from a major player making an exclusive "toy" for their game, then i say they did a great job.
If you like or dislike the controller, that is your opinion and feel free to share it. I actually like the concept but doubtful about purchase.
if you think you were suckered, well, you really were not. They just pushed a button or two to make you wander what was coming. Why should you feel let down? They are trying to increase the fan base and sometimes, hardware is what it takes. I am sure that is just one of many surprises yet to come.
That fact that we, the users, generated so much hype about WHAT was coming, Well again, the Devs did their job making you and I want more. As far as we know, the game is going to be free. Sure there are thing you can BUY and this is one of those things.
This E3 is not over and there may be more actual game content or screenies or vids yet to come. Patience...

I have heard the same thing said about other peripherals like that and the next thing you know they are sold out.

As I said before hype/Gimick is usually the words that are thrown around when a gamer can't afford something. There was actually a really good conversation about this at GDC a couple years back Jerry Clements from NVIDIA was talking about the irrational hate over 3D vision when it was first made available, it baffled the company so they decided to find out what was it about the product that created such a strong negative opinion, come to find out the price point was out of many gamers range and that was the impetus of the hate.
It's the same way with Razer products, they are expensive and many gamers automatically hate what they can't afford.
You see the same hate with Collectors Editions, Third party swag etc. It's pretty petty if you think about it.

Only because they make them in low volume in the first place, as stated.

But here you are wrong. D: There's plenty of products that are nothing but hot air and the market reacts accordingly.
Gamers don't hate Razer products because they are expensive. They hate them because some of them have notoriously bad build quality and performance. Like those "gaming" keyboards of theirs, and whatnot.
And I don't know anyone who hates Collector's Editions! If anything, people hate their sometimes limited supply...

So I take it you have never owned one of those keyboards yes?
I have owned three, I gave the other two to my wife and daughter I have spilled soda in them dropped them and they still work perfectly My friends mastiff decided to use his as a chew toy it's still working.
Point of fact, of all the Razer products I have owned I have had one go bad a Razer Boomslang back in 2001, I called and they RMAed me a new one.
A lot of that notoriously bad press is from people who never actually owned them...you know kinda like when haters show up to meta critic to trash games they aren't actually playing?

Anyway if Razer actually made junk they wouldn't do the phenomenal sales they do every year and eighty percent of that is repeat business.
Oh and Inb4 "I owned blah blah Razer product and it's junkzor!!"

Admittedly, I have not. But this is because I do my research before I buy.

Just because people buy the product, it doesn't mean the product is all great. It does mean that the marketing deparmtnet is doing a good job, however. Just look American car makers.
I'm glad to hear that you're satisfied with your keyboards, though--I didn't mean to diss your choices. Although it would be nicer if you didn't (directly or indirectly) brush off those who aren't planning on buying the controller as being poor, or something! Some people are just more careful in weighing what they will spend their money on.

Planetside 2 and Hawken are coming out soon enough anyway. At least they'll have the budget for some real moderation, and not just hand [REDACTED DEROGATORY COMMENT]
Then get out of our forums and troll somewhere else. Your attitude isn't wanted here.
