Ok, turns out that certain settings are actually being stored in systemoverride.cfg (not that I support that call), so I'm gonna have to get the repair tool to skip it (optionally).

Quit without fixing anything.

Crashes every time, after the scan. Lots of errors detected.

Windows 7 Premium 64-bit. 16 GB RAM. i7 2600k. Tried as admin and non-admin. Tried it in an external directory and inside bin32.

I click "Fix errors" and it crashes like this:

@krist Smith This is a great tool and you should be commended. It will likely find a lot of the low hanging fruit errors and also consolidate the player base so that good error checking can be performed on those install files

Not having any specific problems, just wanted to test it out.
My MWO is in D:\games\MechWarrior Online
Ran the tool and it started going through every game folder in the D:\games directory

Huh. I was just about to PM you about that tool as the CryEngine FRead error came up again (fixed it yesterday by manually replacing objects.pak I don't know how it broke again, as I was playing not four hours ago). Thanks for putting this out there.

Odd, it uses the same path for the download as it does for the scanning. Did it just end up re-downloading everything for you?

It seems so, get a crash of the Repair Tool, so the work is uncompleted. I will do a complete reinstall of the game, hope this will fix the problems.

Uncheck the "consolidate files" option to avoid it deleting certain cfgs. Deleting the Shader Cache is a common thing to reduce any graphical issues you might be seeing... but not necessary.

Hi,

1. you should let the tool download with the game installer

2. You should add a last Line in your Manual:
If nothing helped, uninstall MWO, Download the new Installer and Reinstall MSO, " because we sometimes change the installation directory without mentioning it (from game\piranaha Games\ MWO to x:\program ...) and we still have not tortured our programmers to learn not to install the program under Admin-rights ...

But if you get to run the Game is still PURE FUN :)

Mine crashes every time at the omicron.log files

So I deleted over 1000 of those files and it crashs on the backup folder of patcherlogs.txt

so I deleted over 1000 of those

I have not done a reinstall since Aug so I suspect there were too many files and someting overflowed?

(Ran as admin each time)

Then it ran and found a ton of errors. I "fixed" and downloaded what appeared to many key game files (including the main exe)

Edit: I think those patcherlogs means it decided I never patched! I think I just downloaded the whole damn game again it was many GB download and all the .pak files and .dll files

I have not been having crashes so I hope I did not break anything!

Edit2: Everything it downloaded it put in the wrong location. It put everything at the same directory level as "MechWarrior Online" rather than INSIDE that folder.

Edit 3: Don't run this!. It not only downloaded to wrong location, but it deleted the files in the proper location. I had to copy all the files back from the wrong foler back to the original!
and deleted all my setting includes weapons mappping and key bindings!

I had no errors before I ran it, it found no errors and did nothing. Sounds like everythings working spot on on my end :) Thanks for this, I passed it on to all my typical lance mates.

Ran this earlier and it crashed whilst fixing errors. Now when I try to run it again, it gets to the point I can click 'fix errors' again, but if I click it the repair tool just crashes.

Seems to have deleted most (all?) of the crucial files, too - I can't play. Should I just reinstall the game? :/

Thanks, didn't know specifically what that option did. Ran again with both options unchecked and looks fine.
