The new scoring system:

Quote

Kills × 20 + Kill Assist × 10 + (Damage Done – Team Damage) ÷ 15 + Wins × 20 + Loss × 10 + Survive × 20 + Dead × 10

Personally, this is the first time I've looked at one of their scoring systems and thought, "Hey, that's not too shabby."

Thoughts about that and the prizes?

Scoring system looks pretty good. We'll see how it shakes out.

The only way the prize could be better is if it was a special camo so everyone could see it.

Over all.... pretty damn good. Only regret is I'll be away this weekend.

Isn't there an official topic post for this?

Edit:
As of right now, it doesn't look like it.

This tourney will bring out the "best of the cheese"... which is good and bad. However, I have little faith in PGI to figuring this part out.

At least it will bring out cheese of all sizes. The last few weeks have been heavy/assault to the max. I might dust off my mediums and go for a spin.

Damage done is a bad metric and could lead to gaming the system. I honestly liked the previous tournaments scoring MINUS Tag. Tag doesn't belong in any heavy/assault tournament. Ideally speaking, I'd rather see something similar to match score with damage done not being as heavily weighted.

Ideally speaking, the tournament would deal with a true average score of all drops done over the entire tournament rather than the best of 10.

edit: Didn't notice the new tournament. :( And the new rules. My comment is only about the Assault tournament.

I want some way for scrubby mc scrub scrubs such as myself to get away with a participation trophy ;). (On a more serious note, it seems like a move in the right direction).

Only issue I am running into with the tourny (which isn't to bad considering I was 15th on day 1) is the way kills rate so highly. It really makes kill stealing harm some one who is potentially worked hard in a fight and then lose it all. Since its a solo play it makes coordinating the idea of hey thats my earned kill way harder. I have found on day 2 now that carrying an ER PPC at range and jack a few kills and then focus on damage is benfiting me more than my skill.

Overall so far though I am having fun :3

Unfortunately due to the ability to "game the system" the tournament results are invalid as far as I am concerned. While I am not a participate in this Tournament I see some problems that arise with this and future ones.

You have to determine the difference between how much a kill is worth per damage... because you simply have a discussion between how kill-stealing influences results vs how "stripping" damage influences results.

Once you determine the average #, then it would be a lot more fair.

I wrote in an earlier thread that 300 damage is equivalent to a kill... and it simply doesn't take 300 damage to kill a mech. On average, this number is between 150 and 200 IMO, so right now kill stealing for 8-0 is the way to go for this tourney.

Edit: It may be more like 100 to 150 damage per mech... but anyways the ratio is completely wrong for the purposes of the tourney.
