I'd like to see the hard numbers in changes of posts and views since this super smart forum change, although alexa does help a bit imagining what its like... time people spend on the site seems to be taking a small hit.

Still, reasoning by logic/statistics with these guys is like teaching an ox to tango... doesn't care about you until hes hungry, and then you're gonna be the one in trouble.

I love those charts, people completely disregard the peaks and valleys between patches. You always see that between patches but nobody ever posts one on patch week when forum use spikes.

So we all know how volatile the league of legends community is, and their forum has around 12 moderators. People suggesting we get more volunteer mods, well guess what, MWO forum already has over 20 mods.

Acting like the forum community isn't a piece of the problem is just lying to yourself.

I never said all the forum changes were great. That's why I posted suggestions in the feedback threads. The most recent changes were good in my opinion too.

Yeah, these new changes don't fix anything. Calling a group of sub-forums General Discussion in no way makes up for the loss of General Discussion, and to be honest it is kind of insulting to think that you would think this is what people wanted in that 28+ page thread telling you this was bad and needed reverted. This is no different than what you guys did to begin with. To much info is scattered into to many places. It is a pain to use and a waste of time to search multiple sub-forums for info that was easily found in one centralized location.

GD needs to be like the clan forum. u can post in the main area as general discussion, but if u see fit as it goes in a sub topic u put it in there, or if a mod sees fit. should make everyone happy. then make about 3-4 logical sub forums.

Because the forum population is so small compared to the silent majority, we're not worth listening to. Like they said in the 3rd person thread

I still want to know how this "Silent Majority" speaks to the Devs.

I take issue with the silent majority angle as this game, like some others that are 'build' oriented like League of Legends require the player to do their homework. They may well not post or vote but they will lurk and they will keep up to date with issues relating to tweaking builds and gameplay. You cant play these kinds of games in an information vacuum.

Oh FFS, just give the people what they want.

It's obvious that you need to create more subforums to deal with the repeated whining/spam. Just make it happen, and create a dedicated thread for the obvious flamethrowers, like JJs and PPCs... because all you're doing is increasing the work you have to do tenfold needlessly and by trying to suppress, you're weakening the community AND annoying them off ALL IN THE SAME ACTION. That is unproductive and doesn't generate better responses and thought provoking answers (which in many cases, these are started indirectly by PGI and moderator responses).

So stop the stupidity and WAKE UP.

Combine the "Gameplay Balance" and "Metagame" subs into a single forum. There is To much over lap with those items and its pretty difficult to discuss one without at least touching on the other.

Ex. I want to talk about consumables (meta forum) but this involves number of module slots on a mech (balance), the cool shot specifically (meta) and the heat produced by a 4+ PPC Stalker (Meta and Balance).

Hey, I knew I would get no where with an application but I thought what the heck! IMO, from a PR point of view, placing those that are critical as Vol Mods actually helps balance out and prevent other types of actions.

From a PR point of view, in most cases it'd be a serious blunder. Volunteer Mods need to be able to draw a line between who they are as beta testers and players, and who they are as moderators, and the community needs to know the line is there as well. That line doesn't exist on these Forums.

Looks to me like the war is lost - most people who cared and DISAGREED with the change jumped ship and are no longer part of the community.

Take for instance the now-unusual proportion of ball lickers and t4int sniffers circling the wagons around PGI - everyone who was independently minded and critical of the craptastic mess of a game we all play left disaffected, disenchanted, and disillusioned about the future of this "franchise."

As PGI themselves said many broken promises ago, the intellectual property rights for Mechwarrior and Battletech are scattered to the wind.

Here's to hoping they take seed somewhere else entirely (preferably not Canada... freakin Iceholez).
