Community Forum Referendum - 26/04/2013

Continuing from the discussion of this thread regarding today's latest forum edits: Amongst a number of changes requested en masse by the Community via forums, tickets, and many other outlets, we noticed a few changes which the Community seemed more divided over in discussion and focus.
As a result, we are reaching out once more and asking the Community to help us take on these decisions. The Poll questions are listed as follows.
Workarounds and Help A Player
As these forums have very similar purposes but in seperate directions, it has been mentioned that it would be ideal to some to place Workarounds under the Help a Player section. Should Workarounds get a boost?
BattleMech Guides
Some players believe that this should be one sub-forum, others prefer it divided by weight class. What is your take?
Other Guides
Some players believe that ALL the guides should be one forum, rather than divided by "lesson" or game feature. Which do you prefer?
Menus & UI Game Discussion
This sub-forum was mentioned as missing by several players: Others feel it could be redundant as most Menu & UI bugs appear in the Patch Feedback section already. What do you think?
Mech Decor Discussion
Because everyone loves a Mech, Guns and Motor Show! Would you like a sub-forum to show the world how you Tricked Out your Trebuchet?
Ready Room & Debriefing Room
Some players seem to like the idea of a pre and post "PvP discussion" subforum. Others find it unnecessary, what are your thoughts on this?
Factions
Some players have indicated that the Factions should be a distinguished section of the forums, others that they are are fine under MWO Discussion. Where do you stand?
Fan Movement
The Denizens of Fan Movement are taking up too much real-estate, some players seem to say. Others feel they should make the front-page. Should the Fans stay up front in the Community Hyperpulse Generator, or branched under a Fan Movement section?
BattleTech Discussion
While some BT Denizens seem to enjoy the distinguished sections. Others feel this has granulates too far the discussion of what it mostly "history". Should Tabletop and Books be forever rejoined?
This poll will remain open until Tuesday 12:00 EST.
In the event of a 50/50 Draw:
The Primus will vet the decision based on the quality of constructive arguments discussed from each side. If both sides are equally well-argued: We may decide to settle by Batchall or Coin Flip.
This thread is purely to discuss these proposed changes. If you wish to review or suggest new changes based on today's forum edits: Please comment in this thread.

I still dont get why theres "weapons & loadout" under guides if one can discuss this in the "battlemech guides" forum and check the weight subforums for specific guides. Battlemech guide = what "weapons & loadout" to put on a certain variant for the most part.
General could do without Mechs & Loadout for the same reason, people wont use the guides section if theres something "similar" in the general area.
[edit] I would rename "gameplay balance" to just gameplay or something else, this forum will contain the most critque/whining etc. and it just seems off to have the forum called "balance" connected to this kind of posts thats somehow even worse than general discussion as an impression to a non regular user

Laughable.

The analysis on those who voted, showed that the majority of votes came from a very narrow demographic of our player base. And while they represent some of core players, they did not necessarily represent the opinion of the general user base. The majority of our players never visit, post, or read the forum content, so the poll could be considered weighted in favour of a specific demographic.

Workarounds and Help A Player
Move Workarounds to rest under Help a Player.
It's currently a mix of some few real workarounds and a great bunch of posts looking for workarounds on their specific problems. The later part belongs to Patch Feedback.
BattleMech Guides
Keep BattleMech Guides divided by Weight-class.
We will get more Mechs over time. While it might be possible to find what you are looking for, if we combine them, in the future it will grow difficult if we do n ot devide them by weightclass.
Other Guides
Unify the other Guides into a General Guides section.
While there is a lot to talk about the different mechs, there is not nearly enough for the rest of the game content.
Menus & UI Game Discussion
Do Not create this subforum.
It's a feature to be explained, not much content for discussion there. Discussion about bugs belong elsewhere (Patch Feedback).
Mech Decor Discussion
Do Not create this subforum.
We can show of our mechs in the mech discussion forums.
Ready Room & Debriefing Room
Keep the two sub-forums distinguished.
I'd abstain here if I could. In the end I tend to prefer pre and post match seperated.
Factions
Leave Factions sections under MWO Universe.
They'll become an integral part of the game with CW
Fan Movement
Keep the Fan Forums on the Front Page to increase their visual presence.
Fans are important!
BattleTech Discussion
Revert and merge all back into BattleTech Discussion.
No real reasoning behind it. Simple personal preference.

If this is democratic, why are not all options available to vote on? Would it not be closer to socialist or communist when we are only given options that lead in one direction, the direction that PGI wants, instead of all possible avenues?
If we, the forum community, are going to decide democraticly then all options should be available.
This poll is not truely democratic at all.
(Did not and will not vote unless all avenues are listed)

I know this was supposed to be funny, but you're essentially saying the majority of the users who vote on forum polls don't visit the forums.

No it's actually a word for word quote by MWO Creative Director Bryan Ekman in response to the forum vote on 3rd person view actually
It just seemed pertinent to the current situation somehow

When some one has to emphasize that they are doing something democratically you should be worried. Take a look at nations with Democratic in their official name (North Korea : The Democratic People's Republic of Korea, East Germany was the German Democratic Republic). They consider themselves to be democratic. Sic semper tyrannis.

Agreed. General was the main life blood of this awful forum system.
The Main Lobby. The Heart of it.
It would be like shutting down /b/.
Sudden the sewer of the internet is backed up and you gonna have shat leaking into everything.
General needs to return.

Please remain on-topic.
As stated in the OP, it would be nice if you could write down why you voted the way you did.

suggestions has become much more unsanitary since general was shut down. maybe we do need a good place to store the overflow of useless posts/posters. just allow people to make new threads in k-town and make it the new general forums section, seems to be a healthy fit.

But can we consolidate more forums? Go back to something simplistic.
It's all way too complicated now.
People don't really use most of the random sub-forums.
