Huh, I didn't know that. Then again, I've never done any serious evaluation of flamers because they've been objectively bad since the beginning.
I can't wait for that argument to start up once we get MGs finally sorted out. D:

We were playing 8-mans earlier, and one of my team mates was using a Jager with 2 LB10x and an ERPPC. He was toe-to-toe with an atlas that had a stripped CT, and he *still* dropped first. LB10s are crap.

Yeah, I've noticed this as well. I've been so close to an enemy mech that I could reach over and shove a potato in his tailpipe and my LB-10Xs were just not doing the damage they were advertising. At point blank that should have shredded the target but it took far too many shots to do the job. Three LB-10Xs right in your face should be one of the scariest ******** things out there but it's hitting like a wet paper towel right now.

That's the thing though, even doing damage-as-advertised, 10 points of damage is solid but not anything super, super scary, and you have to be incredibly close to even put all 10 damage in the same location.

Thank me later.
2 Flamers are totally useless. I don't think they even stack.
2->3ML drastically increase your brawling power and makes you better against lights.
GR increases your all round ability.
If you do not like the Gauss put in an UAC5.
Or an AC2 if you like more daka and cannot time your mouseclicks right for the UAC5. Maybe put in some LL then to be more of the allrounder.

I actually agree that flamers arent that crash hot at all, my mech is a fun concept mech but yeah both the LBX and the flamers need to be improved for me to be more useful to my team.
I might leave 1 flamer in and use more medium lasers and swap the LBX for a UAC/5
Thanks for your interest guys

Man, tell me about it. Most of the really sweet tech is developed during and after the FedCom civil war or shows up with the clans. The IS 'mech I love most, the Uziel, doesn't come out until 3067. My CJF totem 'mechs, the Eyrie, Gyrfalcon and Shrike, don't come out until after the Jihad, which is also in 3067. Meanwhile, we're stuck with a bunch of museum pieces firing obsolete weapons at each other.
I am personally of the opinion that they should have set this game after the FedCom civil war, when Clan technology is well integrated into the IS, New experimental tech such as the X-Pulse Laser and the Angel ECM are extant and the WoB Jihad is just around the corner. At least this game didn't end up being set in 3025 as they planned originally.

Why not...
I mean 1 Flamer can basically be useful. Stalkers will hate you as will other LL boats. And it obscures vision for the target. Plus you really seem to love the flamer.

1 Flamer
3 ML
1 UAC5
1 SRM6
should make an okayish brawler.
The only real question is if you do not end up with too many different firegroups to effectively handle!

Try a 4xML, AC10 build... very similar to what you're currently running, and is simply more effective. Bet you'll still have fun.

Run what you want. I run terribad builds on occasion "for the lulz" myself.
But don't make the mistake that the Flamer, as it stands, is going to play a starring role on any "good" fit.

If you want to use them for fun, id go 2 flamer 2 mlas and a gauss rifle. at least you can kill something in an efficient manner that way.
