most times i run the ctf-x1 with 2x erls/lpls with 3x mpls and i can
go up against any heavy or assault and 7 out of 10 times ill win or force him back
but when its a medium head to head i get my armor shredded and almost cored (btw i have full armor)
wile he still has most of his and this is after taking 5 alphas in the chest
i know im not the only one this is happened to is this a new bug secret patch buff something else
cause this ***** getting old real quick

You're not providing any details that could help explain why your 36-38 dmg alpha strike isn't registering.

But the centurion... i personally call it the zombie mech, gets hammered like hell, gets to be around 20% and still lives!!!

News to me. I still get shredded pretty quick in my Treb if I'm not careful. Admittedly I do enjoy going up against heavies. 12 SRM's + Artemis to the back plate every few seconds gets peoples attention very quickly.

My considering the high alpha builds out there, mediums are still bottom of the pack because they tend to get scrapped in only 1 or 2 good salvos.

I was in my new Cat-C4 yesterday (2 MPL, 4 SRM6) and got in behind a poptarting Highlander. I had time (with some dodging and positioning) to hit him with 6 alpha strikes to his backside over about a minute. My crosshairs went red; his paperdoll flashed. And yet, he sustained little to no damage from me.
He got tired of it after a while, turned and popped me in the cockpit. One alpha: I'm dead.
Granted, neither he nor I were medium mechs, but something's definitely still a bit screwy on occasion with hit registration.

Two things I'll point out:
Jumpjets do weird things with latency and hit registration.
Missile HSR isn't in yet.
When missile HSR is in try again. I'm betting that your SRMs all "missed" due to his jumping.

First thing that comes to my mind: how far away were you?

I'd say weird confirmation bias, coupled with good medium pilots spreading damage vs. poor heavy/assault pilots not doing the same.
I assure you, mediums are absolutely not surviving more (actually accurate) damage than heavies and assaults. God knows, I feel very bad for mediums in the current meta. Good medium pilots are still absolutely dangerous, but that's because good pilots are good pilots.
Given that Mediums are pretty much the weakest of the weight classes currently, this makes it highly likely that in any given Elo bracket, the Medium pilots are the most skilled.
That aside, your build is not that great. It's too hot. ELLL and LPL's are very hot weapons, and the MPL is pretty hot too. With good armor, a decent sized standard engine, you're going to have precious little free tonnage/slots for sufficient heat sinks. Swap them with regular LL's, and probably use regular mediums instead of medium pulses. With a medium pilot spreading damage, you'll be pushing your heatcap very quickly whereas the medium pilot can keep on firing.

Sometimes damage doesn't seem to register completely or the right way. In my Cent I went up against a Catapult in River city. We got kind of stuck between two buildings. I was pumping alpha after alpha into his CT, I think I did more damage to myself than to him (because we were so close). When he got turned around he killed me pretty quickly and he didn't have all that much damage in return.
My advice is don't get too torqued up about it. If mediums seem super effective roll one for a while and see how you do with one. You might find your next mech or you might discover they are not as easy to pilot as it may seem.

I prefer the Hunchies and the Centurions, and shun the cicada and trashbucket. The latter two just feel funny to drive, but you will find some pilots who can make those two mechs monsters.

My X-5 is getting two-shotted by PPC boats, and one shot legged by AC/20 Jaggerspammers, much more frequently in the last two weeks.

one match had 3 hunchies, two trebs and a cicada on my team. unfortunately the other team was the ac20 jager squad with people who could aim them properly.
