I feel as tho this game is getting to be just another twitchy shooter. you just happen to be shooting at robots, like Hawkin... I wanted to play MechWarrior(battletech). i guess ill have to wait for more content to see if they inject some flavor into the game.

Implement infantry, armor, fighters, drop-ships, an inject function, and an environment where your ability to succeed or fail has rewards and consequences, then your on your way.

While we're at it lets remove XL engines, endo steel, pulse lasers, ER weapons, gauss rifles... oh hell we're back to 3025!

Ok so while the idea of going to 3025 sounds interesting its just not going to happen, and removing DHS is not a problem solver, its a problem avoider. Solving the problem lies in balancing the existing models of heat and PPCs. What could work is changing heat capacity increases, introducing penalties while running hot, and putting PPCs heat and cycle times back to where they were months ago before their buff.

there has definitely been an increase in jump jet play, and twitch sniping. in the early game the jenner was about the only real twitch/jumpy mech, and the ecm/streak combo killed them off for a bit. now all weight classes have the jumpy twitch snipers, and a lot of them are running around.

but pgi has sated they are working on tweaks to reduce this kind of play.

You might want to check out Mechwarrior Tactics. More like the TT version.

NPC vehicles aren't coming for a long time. The environment thing might just be coming with Community Warfare. We'll see when it comes out.

Wait a second...

No. I am totally against mech doping.

While I don't have a problem with straight line speed, I do feel that the speed of lights torso movement is way too fast. Watching from spectator or piloting these gives me seizures. Also any pilot strapped into this mech would be concussed like a shaken baby. Makes lights into FPS instead of a mech.

The problem with tech 2 equipment is that they were supposed to be upgrades and improvements, not to be 'side-grades' or meant to remain competitive with the tech 1 stuff. LBX-ACs replace ACs. DHS replace SHS. SSRMs replace SRMs.

The game should have started earlier before tech 2 stuff, or afterwards when everything was already replaced. In a way I am surprised that this game wasn't placed in the Jihad era. Hasn't the Clan Invasion kind of been done to death already?

dark age is so blah, ruined mechwarrior books for me. plus in dark age mechs are rare. but ya if they wanted to they could have started in 3025. done the balance there, made sure the game was working then jumped to clan time line.

In a game about mech fighting, there will never be a shortage of mechs.

Problem is, if you balance the game around 3025, then all the upgrades become game changing/game breaking- like how it was in BT. All of a sudden all those older mechs become worthless until you upgraded them. Thats why I think setting the game on either side of the great 'technology rediscovery' era would have been best.

Hawkens gameplay is twitchy, true. But it is twitchy by concept, Hawken is all about the "unrealesque" style of modern FPS.

And as a shooter, it´s kinda working out, I guess. It´s not a "mech" game, besides the repair/heat balance and the "transformations" the heavy mechs can do, Hawken sticks to basic shooter premises and combines them with really interesting gameplay modes (collect ressources, launch mothership to attack base).

I don´t know if hawken will be a long term success... I decided to play a mech game, this is why I chose MWO.
In a certain way, I chose poorly. But the Hawkenverse would have been the wrong course from the very beginning for me.

I tried it, it was fun for a while... but after all it´s just a fallback to UT.

My personal fantasy is actually MWO set in 3025. With the Unseen.

Now we won't get the Unseen, and there's no chance they'll move the timeline back to 3025, so I guess I'm out of luck. I do think that would have been a much better game though, with or without the Unseen.

I'll give the OP the benefit of the doubt, and assume that the OP has accidentally renamed his "Hawken.exe" launcher "Mechwarrior Online" and hasn't been paying attention to the title screen.
