One, those were shots of me that are taken by Lordred. Not by myself. Forgot to credit him this time. Check out his profile and the topic Perfect Screenshot Thread. Okay, so his profile is pretty empty but he's frequently posting about fixes to frame rate problems and the like. So following him is a good idea for ways to tweak your graphics card for the best performance.

Two, Right Shift + F11.

If you do this during a HUD Bug, you can reclaim the frame rate you lost too.

Remember to zoom in to take snapshots to remove most of the cockpit.

Some mechs are not good for photography. They leave borders.

But seriously though. If there's any application that can combine my mechs without the photoshop and the effort, it'd be great.

Yep. I scored 4,148 on 3D Mark's program at http://www.3dmark.com/
He scored over 10,000.

I have a quad core Phenom II 3.6 ghz processor, 16 gigabytes RAM, TWIN Radeon 6870 cards (but during my test only one was enabled so I might get to score higher with it on).

I've got a crappy laptop that's had several pints of beer poured into it and needs to be sat on several cookbooks with a deskfan pointed at the side.

Plus side, it does have 2 GB of graphics memory and a decentish processor so I can run lots of stuff quite well. No room for a dream desktop in my flat though. Or money for that matter. A mortgage and a wife seemed like such good ideas at the time...

Don't fret mate, you'll get dragged down eventually!

Soon you'll be getting your "better half" a bottle of wine and downloading her a movie just to get an hour or two to play video games. Running her a bath works well too! Tips for a happy marriage!

Also, don't let on you were up til 5AM playing games and chatting on teh interweb. That never goes down well.

Oh a few of those I already knew. Heh. Although, a great choice in mate is a fellow gamer. Then it's not so bad. Unless you have to buy the game twice in order for both of you to play it.

She is a gamer! But she goes in for RTS which means... No PC for me! Got to get on the PS3 and I've gone right off my consoles recently despite my very respectable collection of games. Plus, when she's playing Civ or Settlers I tend to hover and nag... Maybe I'm the woman?!?

What was this thread about?

Oh, right. Having to inform someone you're swapping actual money for intangible money is a pain.

The thread was about swapping real money for intangible money, and purchasing paint jobs and whether it'd be worth it.

See, that's where you need two computers and a decent internet speed!

ya i know youre mechbay is really impressive  and tbh with the photoshopping etc it wont be possible to get more than 13 groups of 3 mechs in, any more and you wont be able to read the model name and number, so youre out of luck koniving, finally a downside to owning 50+ mechs haha :o

back on topic what BoPop said is 100% correct price is relative what is expensive to one person might be nothing for the next, and i agree 100% money you spend on a pc game shouldn't be money you cant afford to "waste"

however about games in development like MWO my personal opinion is if you like the game and if you can afford it buy some mc, it helps games development, and game development is insanely expensive.

You're mad because you spent $2.78 on a mech, and now it will cost you $5.56 per PREMIUM color to customize it?

You spent less on your mech than you would getting a soda and a candybar at the gas station, and you are griping about how the company makes money?

Wow.... And I thought I was frugal..

The prices are cheap enough to allow most people to make a purchase without breaking the bank, but high enough that the company can continue to keep the lights on. This is a Free to Play game, and one of the very few F2P titles that does not support Pay to Win.

Also, you only gave 32 minutes for a response in the middle of the afternoon on a Sunday, which also happens to be on a Holiday here in the States. Settle down kiddo.

I've only bought a few colors, and they're pretty much all the colors I'll ever need (Red, black, white, gold). Probably cost me 10 bucks but I'll never need to buy more! As for camo, if you don't want to change your camo scheme then don't buy the unlocks for 750 (which btw is only ~3 dollars). Instead go for the single use which is what 50 cents? That's what I did for my jagermech and stalker where I know I'm just going to keep the same camo and color scheme on it.

Never pay more than you can afford. Nice thing about F2P games is that if you can't spend it, someone else can. Either way the game gets supported and keeps online. What I don't like about Eve is I can't afford to spend x amount per month, and so I had to drop it before I even got to try it. Sucks, because I love the concept.

There's a point, that the premium colors are not particularly necessary. The colors are actually brighter in game than they are in the mechlab, so don't fret if it looks too dark. They're expensive.

But the prices Syllogy mentioned are relative. It's like the Pretty Baby is priced at 6000 . If you buy increments of MC at the lowest option of $6.95 per 1250 , you are going to see it to be $33.36. Expensive, yes. But here's what I spent for it. $23.99 and that was without a sale. Sucks because with the sale that came up I would have only spent about 16 dollars. The more you buy at the same time, the more bonus you get for less. My personal prices are from buying the $99.95 the package. Which I do after about 4 or 5 months of saving chump change here and there (so to make it within 5 months, I save up a 20 each month in the jar). There's a jar I throw it in. Has a picture of a Catapult with Centurion arms.

The average price someone would really pay for the Pretty Baby is about $29.64

To calculate the cash price for an amount, go to the buy MC page. Look at the prices. In a separate window open this link to a ratio calculator. Put in the price option you're willing to pay's MC value, followed by the cash value. For example 6500 for 29.95. Next, put in the price of the object you want (say the 500 MC Raven). Press calculate, and that will tell you how much it cost you. For me, 500 is lower than it is for someone who buys lower amounts of at once because I buy the highest value when I can and I try to make it last by restraining myself to the sales. I don't always wait though. But hey, the paint on my 4X wouldn't be there if I waited. I rather like its "scars."

Yep. It's closed. Sad face. However, the MWO website is still accepting codes. So if you get your hands on a genuine, unopened issue of the October 2012 PC Gamer, then you can still get your PC Gamer skins and paints.

Or get it from someone who has it but hasn't given away the code and won't be using it.

Sad thing: Though the site still accepts the codes and the redemption will show up in your transaction history you wil likely never see the camos or colors unlocked ingame. That **** has been bugged for quite a while now. Which reminds me I should send in another support ticket about the matter.

Hello, I'm a noob! Well, a noob to MWO. I recently bought myself a Raven, 500 MC, figured that's not too bad.

IMO, you should only pay money for Hero mechs. You could buy a normal Raven very cheaply for a few million CBills. You should never buy "normal" mechs unless you are rolling in cash and are impatient. PGI offers you this option to give you a way to avoid grinding if you really want to. But no one buys normal mechs for MC. Only Hero or Champion mechs.

View Postbashpr0mpt, on 05 May 2013 - 01:26 AM, said:

Now I want to customize it. Apparently I have to pay 1,000 MC per color and 750 per camo pattern? That seems patently absurd to me, especially given that I can't buy it with credits

You can buy some colors with credits. There are three groups...basic, standard and premium. "Basic" colors you can buy for CBills only. "Standard" colors are 500MC each. "Premium" colors are the ones most in demand and are 1000 MC each.

IMO the cost is not absurd because these are vanity items...you do not need them to play the game. Also, they are permanently unlocked for all mechs once you buy them.

View Postbashpr0mpt, on 05 May 2013 - 01:26 AM, said:

so basically I am going to be paying almost EIGHT TIMES THE PRICE OF MY MECH for ONE camo pattern

Only because you bought a cheap Mech. My Highlander Hero mech was 6700 MC...13 times the cost of your mech. Compared to that, colors are trivial.

Keep in mind you can mix and match colors between sets. So you do not necessarily need all the colors in "Camo-grey" to make a camo-grey mech.

View Postbashpr0mpt, on 05 May 2013 - 01:26 AM, said:

If I purchase three colors and a camo pattern that makes me happy in the pants, then next week I get sick of my Raven and replace it with that god awful pink thing or another mech in general, can I apply those colors and that camo to the new mech?

Yes. Color unlocks are permanent and attached to your account, not the mech.

View Postbashpr0mpt, on 05 May 2013 - 01:26 AM, said:

This will be a good gauge as to how money hungry and greedy the developing company is

They are not money hungry at all...this is a free to play game. You do not HAVE to buy any of this crap to play it. Camo patterns and flashy colors are optional.

You pay for vanity items and to avoid grinding...that is it. That is all you can get with money in this game.

customization options cost EIGHT TIMES THE PRICE OF MY BLOODY ROBOT.

Your bloody robot should not have costed anything. You can buy Ravens with CBills (and they are pretty cheap even then). You did not need to spend a dime to get that mech.

View Postbashpr0mpt, on 05 May 2013 - 01:26 AM, said:

So please, can someone enlighten me as to what goes on what and how to not get ripped off wasting more money than I need to? And is there any reason why they won't let me use cbills on it? Besides greed?

Because they are not working for free?

Seriously...what exactly were you expecting? You are not required to pay ANYTHING to play this game. There is no monthly fee. You are not denied any weapons or actual play options. And you are still complaining? LOL!

Asking you to actually pay them for a game they designed and host is hardly greedy. Do you work for free?

I guess it is a good thing for PGI that very few players are as demanding as you seem to be.

You were never required to. You do not need the fluff to play the game.
