I think it'd be awesome to add another map as Tourmaline Desert Night. Don't make it as dark as River City Night. Make the night slightly brighter and have truly visible stars and a bright moon. I don't know how difficult this next portion would be, but wouldn't it be cool to add rain and lightning!

Only if it had giant antlions in quicksand pits, like that one Happy Wars map.

I vote for visible stars with lighting determined by a variable Aurora Tourmalinis upper atmospheric light show.

Also need an antlion queen and that thing you squeeze to call upon them.

Brilliant idea! This would make Tourmaline a lot harder because there is no artificial light. I really like your idea for the Aurora, Helsbane. As with the Arctic scenario, this needs to be animated, shifting position and wave intensity (May need to wait for DX11).

It might be cool to have the night version of this map also be the colder (ie forest colony snow) version. Assuming it was a desert it would probably get much colder at night (assuming an earthlike climate I guess).

That's a good point! If the temperature drops off like our Deserts, the Mech heat signatures would really show at distance. As long as we can tell who's who, this would be great for Sniping.

i've also thought that it'd be cool to possibly start the map off at sunset and have it drift off to night at about 5:00 into the game.

since it looks like there won't be some maps for a while, Tourmaline night should come out soon since it'd be easier to program.

I want to have Alpine Peaks on a cloudy dark night. But Tourmaline with a sandy storms would be interesting too.

The beauty in your idea is desserts can be near or below freezing at night. Whole new dimension there. Good idea.

I hated Touramline at first but now It one of my favorites. Having a night version with a colder temp would be pretty boss.

what if during the night when it got cold any water deposits would freeze over and icicles would form on the tourmaline!

Probably a Direct X 11 thing, but the shards would glisten in the starlight enhanced by the icicles; this would look fantastic.

While more accurately described as Dravite, Ice crystals forming on the massive formations would be very cool...the temperature drop at night in deserts is caused by the high pressure and low water vapor content in the atmosphere (water vapor being the strongest greenhouse gas, having thousands of times as much affect on temperature as weaker greenhouse gasses like CO2) Deserts with clear skies can get very cold very quickly once the sun goes down.

I got a suggestion to crosspost this, so here:
http://mwomercs.com/...line-sandstorm/

What if we changed the colour of the fog-effect from Frozen City and used it as the basis for a sandstorm? (see thread for rest)
