I'm a little concerned (and critical) about how many people freely admit to liking that the streak cat is coming back and how happy they'll be to use it again. Isn't it like admitting that they hate having to aim and are so glad the devs are making aiming optional? Sure it can be countered with good tactics (usually early identification and massed fire), and it has a hard time against heavier opponents (I'm usually not a heavier opponent). But with the 360 targeting module you don't even have to be in the front arc to be killed by this thing
Understand that the SSRM2 is only a small weapon. Typically it is only dangerous when in groups of three. In the future we're getting the SSRM6 which is dangerous on its own and will be stacked. With SSRMs working as they do now do we really want to see the advent of the streak-splatapult? (really I should see if such a thing is possible with IS SSRM6s but you get the idea)
First thing, streakcats are not auto win. Indeed, you have to be careful about where you are. You're right, there is not that much aiming(you have to, though) but a lot more positioning, flanking and situation awareness Your effective range is 270m, and that's really not much. Try to sneak behind those Highlanders on alpine.
And for 360 module, it only shows you where the enemy mech is, but you have to get him in your crosshair before you can shoot.
After all, streakcats are just fun and that's why we play them. I don't care if some whiner thinks, there're OP or his FOTM-weapon needs a buff. You can kill with everything in this game. Ok maybe not lulzflamers.
So why don't you like some diversity? Just PPCs and Gauss is boring, this is not sniper elite...
