No, it doesn't. Crits don't deal any damage to internal structure, ever. Damage to internal structure causes crits, but the damage is separate. On top of that, damaged/destroyed actuators aren't implemented yet, so the only things to crit in legs are whatever ammo/jets are placed there. Considering all of the above, legs (especially 60 armor legs moving at speed) are a good place to keep ammo.

Hmm, so actuators are non-crittable. That's good to know.

If you see my videos, my leg armors tend to go first due to frequent jumping to avoid multiple PPCs. I definitely would not store ammo there.

Well, I haven't hopped around in a Catapult for a while, but typically I lose everything else before the legs.

It's also worth noting that ammo only has a 10% chance to explode when destroyed currently, and Leg ammo explosions spread to side torso before they hit CT, which allows you to use a CASE in the relevant side torso to prevent it blowing CT.

I hate the current jump sniping meta so much, that I would consider this cheese now, although I would never ever have back in closed beta. And that says a lot. (I'm usually an Awesome, Jäg, non-3D-Phract & Hunch pilot)

This is why I play with STD engine. Streakcat is potent even with a side torso gone.

Also you are only giving up mere 4 kph speed for better survivability. I call that a great trade.

You have valid point, it's only some kph, but you forget the AMS which kills of 1-2 ssrm from an ecm raven and of course can protect you and your team from lrms... kind of.

Let's see if the command console ever will be of use. That's 3 tons extra but you get maybe a module slot or something that could make it worth.

I don't know if its too hot and enough jumpies for your taste but STD instead of XL with speed.

CPLT-A1

This is a very balanced streak cat with srm6 backup. Excellent ammo load, very good speed and full armor.

The SRM6 with artemis acts as a triple-the SSRM damage in one hit punch. SSRMS enable you to maneuver-brawl and pump in damage and the SRM6 delivers the rabbit punch when you can aim at the target mech. Its much more effective than 6 SSRMs.

jeez why so much SRM ammo. I usually can deal with 150 missiles per SRM6 rack. So 300 would be enough.
I would remove 2 tons and put in AMS.

In the extended range centric game we have at the moment (and with canyon sounding like more to come), on top of the 1.5dmg per streak now, I think streakapults fill a pretty good niche, and I respect pilots willing to run a dedicated close-quarters anti-light mech. I think state-rewind for missiles is really going to make splat-cats shine more than streakapults though. As an atlas pilot, streakapults are a marginal threat at best, where as splat-cats are a serious concern. As a cicada pilot, I'll typically run from both.

an 18 damage alpha is just so little punch though. Running my assault it takes 20-25 seconds of continuous firing to open my ct armor (depending on how the streaks land) and I can pivot to take some to the back/shoulders for an extra 10-15 seconds if needed. and if I can box an ear off, the timeline suddenly becomes unmanageable.

And that brings me to what I see as the other HUGE disadvantage of a streak-cat. you can box its ears just as easily while its running, as when its facing you.

Anecdotal evidence in PUGs isn't enough to make me dust off my Catapult until the missile fix on the 28th.

That will, in fact, be the fabulous return of the Streak Cat.

I'm a little concerned (and critical) about how many people freely admit to liking that the streak cat is coming back and how happy they'll be to use it again. Isn't it like admitting that they hate having to aim and are so glad the devs are making aiming optional? Sure it can be countered with good tactics (usually early identification and massed fire), and it has a hard time against heavier opponents (I'm usually not a heavier opponent). But with the 360 targeting module you don't even have to be in the front arc to be killed by this thing

Understand that the SSRM2 is only a small weapon. Typically it is only dangerous when in groups of three. In the future we're getting the SSRM6 which is dangerous on its own and will be stacked. With SSRMs working as they do now do we really want to see the advent of the streak-splatapult? (really I should see if such a thing is possible with IS SSRM6s but you get the idea)

Let go of the jump button when you're at 25% fuel, and then burn that last fuel just before you touch down and it will slow you enough so that you do not damage your legs. The same principle works great for dropping off of cliffs like the ones in River City.

Will the Clans break balance? Sadly, yes. But then again, 300 year superior technology is supposed to be superior. And tbh, I am not a twitch shooter who feels balance in all things is god. I like the "Inferior Numbers" solution used in TT. (Which is yet another reason to prevent Clan and IS from mixing, as you say a differing argument for another time)

Are Clans really supposed to be 300 years superior? They fight with more or less the same paradigm; large, bipedal mechanized units duking it out with (in real world terms) short-range direct fire weapons. Their gear is all better, but they're fighting the same kinds of wars. Now look at 300 years of advancement in real world conflicts. We go from tall ships to nuclear aircraft carriers. The Clans shouldn't be fighting with mechs. They should be fighting with giant T-1000s.

Weren't you quitting the forum because PGI's conspiracy to crush dissent had you massively ********?

Anyhoo, this, and every other streak thread is stupid:

Quote

I just wish people would read. PGI stated that they have a new missile system in the works along with missile HSR. Chances are very likely that the next patch will include this missile overhaul which means streaks won't be a problem in the slightest. Anyone whining about streaks is only proving that they don't pay as much attention to this game as they claim to.

Quote

Missile Update:
Missiles are coming along. A lot of stuff has been rewritten and we have to test and retune numbers to get them ready to be released back into the live game. So far LRM's are looking really good and SRM's are soon to be addressed as well. As of this writing we're putting the final numbers on LRMs so they'll be ready for large scale testing very soon.
DATE: All of the above is expected to be released in the May 21st patch.

I just wish people would comprehend what they read.

The weapons update announcement lists a lot of very clearly defined changes that will come to effect at 21st. At the end of the post there's that part of "missile update" with very vague paragraph basically just saying that it's been worked on. I guess that the date for the actual changes is placed after that obvious "still in progress, no ETA whatsoever" part has thrown some people off and they think some sort of missile revamp is on it's way to the next patch.

The only missile change we'll see at 21st is that 20% extra speed to LRMs.

Streaks will be the same they are now, except that ECM won't help jack **** against them.

First thing, streakcats are not auto win. Indeed, you have to be careful about where you are. You're right, there is not that much aiming(you have to, though) but a lot more positioning, flanking and situation awareness Your effective range is 270m, and that's really not much. Try to sneak behind those Highlanders on alpine.

And for 360 module, it only shows you where the enemy mech is, but you have to get him in your crosshair before you can shoot.

After all, streakcats are just fun and that's why we play them. I don't care if some whiner thinks, there're OP or his FOTM-weapon needs a buff. You can kill with everything in this game. Ok maybe not lulzflamers.

So why don't you like some diversity? Just PPCs and Gauss is boring, this is not sniper elite...
