It is not a matter of not knowing how to make good modules; it's a matter of avoiding the P2W label with them. The devs here are VERY wary of getting labeled P2W. That is why they started the arty and airstrikes really, really underpowered and will, probably, tweak them up. As a dev, I would rather deal with those getting laughed at and tweaking up than deal with the endless cries of "THE WORST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO OUR SPECIES OMGOPP2W YOU MUST DIE" if it went the other way. Plus, doing it this way, people will accept the final version. If you started with the exact same setup to begin with, everyone would say they were OP. It's human psychology the devs are really playing with here; not numbers.

I rather like the Sensor Module myself. It's not a huge deal and I play without fine. But having the little extra heads up on pinging a target can be nice. Especially if I am out in my light mech by myself. Target Info is also nice; especially if you are playing a fast striker.

The Enhanced Zoom is garbage. I know why; it's a limitation of the game engine. Still stinks up the place, though.

This bugs me, because as you said, we know why. And they've admitted it and stated no real urgent plans to fix it...

But then that brings me to this question....

Why not do one of two things..

1] Change it to be real 4x zoom with no window.

or

2] Refund us and remove it from the game until you can do it right.

I'd wager A LOT of people buy it as their first module because it's on the cheaper side of modules, and every thinks "Hells yeah more zoom will let me snipe better". Only to have their hopes dashed.

It's just silly.

I cannot imagine playing right now without -

Advanced Target Decay
Advanced Sensor Range
Target Info Acquisition

Makes a big difference in basically any mech, at least to me... I haven't tried any of the consumable ones in game right now, but I will try Seismic and UAV.

I think you trick yourself into that a bit. I definitely as I said see the difference in Adv. Decay.

But i've forgotten to swap out Adv. Sensor a few times and didn't notice it until 4 or 5 matches in. Considering the GXP cost and the fact that it costs a mech's worth of c-bills. It's meh.

Advanced Sensor Range is definitely on the 'hot seat' if you catch my drift.

The other two are like salt and pepper, put em on every ******* thing and it's a lil better.

Cool shot 9x9, advanced sensor range, advanced target decay on my LRM mech.

My jager only has 2 slots and I just brawl, so I use double cool shots.
I forget to replace them sometimes, it is slightly annoying... Might be the difference between winning and losing in a few cases... Not usually though.

I have advanced zoom, which isn't really that useful...

I upgraded my coolant both ways... Didn't really notice the 10% one, but 9x9 was nice.

I have over 15000 gxp now, nothing else that I really need... I'll save it for one of the new ones.

If I was not a founder, I would have just gotten all that I need... Because I am a founder, I have extra gxp that I will use just for the heck of it.

I've played about 1300 games probably... Not that bad of a grind IMO, it was fun.

Also because I'm a founder, I was able to get some extra mech... I don't use my stalkers or awesome or atlas much, but its fun to collect. Maybe I will master them all some day...

What kind of LRM mech do you use? Curious cause I rarely have heat problems.

My highlander has 2 large lasers on it in addition to 50-60 lrms.

My catapult has an erppc in addition to lrms.

Neither has any heatsinks other than those in the engine. I prefer my mech to have OK great efficiency rather than excellent heat efficiency, so I can use the tonnage for other stuff (like tons of ammo)

I put together an LRM Highlander with 2 Large Lasers. I went with 45 LRM's instead due to limitations on space.

Mind posting your build so I can take a look? I have a feeling I know what you did.

Here's with 50 LRMs, I wouldn't recommend trying 60 though you'd have to give up too much to get there.

Why is it people always feel entitled to unlock every single thing easily?

The purchase of modules and upgrades is basically what the rather weak, linear 'mech tree promised in the first place. It's what really defines your piloting style and is the closest thing we have to a "character build."

As long as you are limited to just a handful of these modules at any given time, you literally do not need to own them all, and should think about investing in the ones you actually care about. I guarantee the grind is reasonable to 3-4 modules/consumables /w upgrades and that's the max you're going to see for a very, very long time at one time.

Planetside 2 is my current gold standard of "How to handle a F2P game" honestly.
