The biggest issue with the current UI was the 'social' and 'communications' interface. Why is it that Bryan does not talk about this beyond a line or two and one screen shot that says 'Sift+Alt' to access social/group tab? TBH the social and group tab, IMO, is one of the most importan and it is a bit remiss of Bryan not to mention it.

PGI what do you have planned for the social/group tab? Is it true that you are going to integrate third party providers such as Facebook? Why are you dragging your heels over this feature and refusing to talk to us about it?

New UI 2.0 UNINFORMATIVE!

Combine Mechlab and Store in one piece it's fail idea.

Too much stuff, it look messy it need to be simpler.

The current list is almost perfect, we just need a filter, the ability to rename and replace the mech we own. No need for fancy stuff.

Oh I really really hate the new buying system.

Current buying system :
Mech-nothing-mech-mech-mech-nothing.
Click nothing buy mech, not agressive simple easy no problem.

UI 2.0:
How it look like :
mech own-mech own- mech not own you can buy it.

How it feel :
mech-mech-BUY ME BUY ME SPEND YOUR ******** MC BUY ME BUY ME SPEND YOUR DOLLARS BUY ME BUY ME YOU'LL NEVER BE COMPLETE UNLESS YOU BUY ME SPEND ALL YOUR MONEY !

Its really agressive, the mechbay is supposed to be like an house. I don't know for you but I don't have a store in my house.

I'm impressed and like the new design & concept al lot. looking forward to use/test it.

But one thing I seem to miss and would like see your take in resolving it.

I have somtimes the difficulty to search and find and unequip my beloved bobbleheads from some of my mech and equip to the mech I intend to use the next 5 - 10 rounds. As example the coconut ape bobblehead. I did not remember in wich of my mech I mounted it on. So I had to switch through all of my mechs and look for it to unequip it.

I would really like a overview to see where are my items so I can unequip it and direct equip it to the next mech and if I want two hula girls so I can buy it and put it in to my cockpititem stock.

I hope you can see my point of view and I hope I did not screw your plans with my wish :) .

Really great work you do there and I am grateful for it.

Sorry for my bad spelling if there is any...

Isolate the "Play Now" button?

1) Makes it standout
2) Helps avoid mis-clicking

Can we see our selected 'mechs without other windows opened around it? Maybe the windows can be turned off?
I would like to admire the camo and detail work while in mechlab.

Its actually smart, Planetside 2 does the same and its much easier than constantly having to go to store to filter down to see what's available.

I like the new UI look overall.

The biggest Improvement I am excited about is the mech sorting. I hope that nice scroll bar actually works smoothly. I am really tired of the endless clicking right now to get back and forth between mechs.

Too much bling-bling, not enough smart display.

Too much colors for nothing (the useless "sexyness" you seems to speak about), not enough to real and useful uses.

Keep the actual UI, and add all features from the well know smurfy.de mechlab. Why did you think all people are refering to it ? Because it is simple, easy to use, all important informations are in one window, and there are all the capital features :

- your mech entirely displayed with a complete paperdoll, giving you the exact loadout in instant, without clicking or switching another window.
- All the possible items in a smart list, highlighted in colors depends of the item type (yellow for ballistic, red for energy, green for missile), with integrated filters (a checkbox to display them or not), and all the stats by simply rolling the mouse over
- All the mech infos, like the current UI, but with the CAPITAL information of AMMO loaded... why it is still missing ?
- The useful buttons like full armor, strip armor, save config, load config, etc.

Why is this so difficult to consider ? You already have the perfect mechlab, for all people, beginners as hardcore veterans. Why wouldnt you use it ?

Currently you're about to make the loadout MUCH MORE complicated it is now. Open one window to select one thing to buy, then return in another to load it into your mech, then compare items in another windows... that horribly designed, seriously. And doesnt fulfill any of your intended goals.

The boxes are way too large, how will do the ones who bought 30, 40 mechs ? They will have to scroll many times to select the one they want to launch ? What a mess...

The intended XP trees are not ergonomic at all. The current system and display is perfect, you only have to makes the selected mech tree automatically open, that's all.
The chassis are perfectly displayed in the right column, allowing an easy switching between them, quickly displaying all the pilot efficiencies acquired, and the ones that arent. Maybe a little color rework to distinguish the completed from the remaining ones, and that's all you need.
You already got all the perfect system to work you trees, with adding more stuff, or linking efficiencies to other, to make some "prerequisites", or I dont know what else...
Why do you want this new display, with the need for clicking on the mech, then look at the remaining efficiencies, then spending points, then clicking to close the window, then click on another mech... arrrr. No.

Colors are too much eyecatching, for nothing at all except observing a certain sense of aesthetic, which doesnt even fit to the universe...

The social window must be a CENTRAL point, easily accessible and visible at all times if necessary.
There must be some features included :
- The friends, with a filter and a labeling/favorite system
- in the group tab, the chassis and tonnage of each mech chosen by friends, and maybe a quick view (on mouse over) of their global stats (speed, weapons, etc)
- A "total weight" indicator, to match certain limitations (compulsory or not)
- Under the group list, a quick chat bar to send instant messages (not a big one constantly opening and masking other useful informations)

All the good points are maybe the comparator between weaponry, but you have to add one to compare different loadouts, or at least a "before/after changes" to be really useful.

In state, the intended goals are not, in any means, fulfilled IMO.
To much "buy things", and not enough "Look, useful infos"...

Disapointed.

From current UI - I like seeing the mech I am working on, and I like how the wepaon info panels are under the mech. Im always "in" the lab. I dont like the obscuring of the mech in this new interface. I want to be "in" the mechlab, like I currently am.

TBH my only major gripe with the current UI and mechlab is the lack of mech sorting/naming ability. the new 9x9 grid looks better, but it seems to be obscuring the very pretty current view we have of our mechs in a mech bay.

i agree the new UI looks very console orientated. In general in terms of coolness i think it looks worse.

the weapons info panels look great, but can we keep them under the mech like they currently are? then, if you compare to another, layer it just above that?

keep windowed mode, important, i too like surfing the web while waiting for drops and dont want to alt-tab. shift-tab needs to be optional and we need a button.

imho the mechbay itself still needs some action, engineers fixing your mech, walking around, the current mechlab has a computer to the side, etc, dont want to lose that.

Will we be getting actual lobbies finally?

It's also a marketing strategy. If potential purchases are constantly in view that dramatically increases the likelihood of impulse buys. Even folks who say "I'm never gonna buy anything" or "I'll buy what I buy; I ignore all marketting" end up spending more.

Edit: What I'm saying is that there's a zero percent chance they're going to allow you to hide each and every little MC sink sales pitch. That's an integral part of the free to play business model.

Need a "SAVE TEMPLATE" option so bad. Should be easy, right? Don't disappoint me, son. This is your big chance.

It could be fine if the filter setting can be saved to show only my owned mechs as default. I don't want to having to choose to filter out the mechs I don't own every time I go into mechlab, that would get annoying real fast.

Here's a suggestion.

put some kinda chat box/global chat into the new user interface...

Its a mutliplayer game.. we need social features (like a chat) in every single screen we view. I'd accept if we didnt have it in a loading screen but in a the main mech window/etc. we need a global chat/pm/normal/faction etc.

You could even monetize the chat the way 'audition', cabalonline, dragon nest does it. Sell emoticons, fonts, colors etc inside the cash shop. sell exclusive shout tokens to let people announce to any and every1 ingame.

Also DO NOT FORGET to add a line for 'mech quirks and specific 'mech statistics, like amount of torso twist, turn rate and so on. That stuff is REALLY important, and we all love numbers. Do not drop the ball, this shouldn't be too hard right? Right.

Looks great! Only thing is I don't think a "Champion Mech" tab will be at all useful with the current Champion mech bonuses, they just don't incentivize play the way Hero mechs do, ie grinding.

Oh, wait ,you guys have Champion mechs on their own tab so people (noobs) will by them, not so that people who play alot can find them easier. Got it.

Something I found out recently...

You can easily scroll through the current mech list by dragging it. Click and hold the mouse button down on a mech in the list and drag it left or right.

This video revealed this to me:
Spoiler

You just blew my freaking mind. I have 2000+ matches and did not know this!

If you can scroll, there should be a scroll bar. I guess there will be soon.

Overall I like it and I'm sure I'll get use to the new layout fairly quickly. Some general comments though.

1) On weapon comparison - I think listing the number of slots is inferior to graphically showing them.

2) Would like to see a screenshot of the social/group page.

3) The add time button is very intuitive, would like to see what the new one looks like.

4) The ability to configure weapons in the mechlab is awesome.

5) It's not intuitive to me from your screenshots which mechs you own - could you expand a bit on that?

6) I see where you can add a mech bay, from your description/screenshot, you should have 7 empty. Yet only one empty one appears in the screenshot. Are the other 6 hidden until used?

7) Can we still have different settings for the mechlab and the game? i.e. one windowed and the other full screen? I like having my cursor available for other things when in the mech lab, or will we have to alt-tab?

I'll probably figure it out fairly quickly once I get to play with it, but also having a full screen will be nice.
