OK, here's an ambitious request in this new UI...

Pre-configured loadouts selection per mech based on maps being played. IE: If the map that gets selected is hot, I run a more ballistics heavy mech. If its going to be cold, I can run more lasers...

Like having an mech with specific loadouts already configured and purchased. An hot running Atlas variant to run on Frozen City, or a cooler configuration Atlas variant to run on Caustic.
  • Either the player would preconfigure which variant would load depending on the map provided
OR
  • The player is allowed to select which mech variant to run after the target map is selected
OR
  • Players can actively select which maps they are willing to play on and variant before dropping into matches.

I think we are getting a variation of this, either with the "vote for map to drop in" then select mech, or have mechs that are preconfigured (would require multiple mechs rather than multiple loadouts) which would be a lot easier. too many things to go wrong with automatically reconfiguring 16-24 mechs on the fly for potentially every match :D

So by that logic, shouldn't we be paying a mechanic to move any parts on or off our mechs?

You may be surprised how close that came to being implemented.

(or not, i've no idea if it got close but im pretty sure it was at least in planning discussions at some point back when they ****** out R&R etc prior to closed beta launch etc) Veterans want to chip in on that?

Everything is so cluttered and narrowed to one closed screen.

Mechwarrior is BIG ... Mechwarrior is OPEN... Mechwarrior is PANORAMA.

Make the Mechlab a Panorama, where specific menu points scroll to the right and left and let you pick stuff easily.

Why dont you try the "swipe homescreen" theory? Most people are used to it already via smartphones and it adds multiple levels and dimensions to the mechlab, to get specific features fast and intuitive.

With a nice camera angle this could really be good and specificly THE MECHWARRIOR GARAGE LABS IN REALTIME. We waited so long!

Great idea let's turn mechwarrior's UI into Windows 8 Metro interface since it translates so well to desktop use and everyone likes swipe interaction...

Now to be fair I understand that isn't exactly what you are saying, but I would really like for people to stop trying to integrate phone interfaces that work well on phones with interfaces on desktop and desktop applications that do not work well with things like swipe.

I see a Rename button, and that is fantastic.

One thing about that; any chance we can get more characters for the names? The current limit seems unnecessarily short for something that only the player can even see. Especially when Pilot names can be so ridiculously long, and that can actually be a hindrance to others.

Very nice.

Agreed, the more info we can have in-game about the mechs, the less we have to rummage through the forums.

I think it'd be cool if they combined the ARM/TORSO angle meter. and showed the arms/torsos in different colors.

Posted Image

its also more condensed. maybe they will have room to put jump jet stats under it now.

Well Mr Bryan, why you won't use a color coding we already used to?I mean this seen in smurfy's and mechromancer mechlabs:
red for energy weapons
yellow for ballistics
green for missiles

I notice the quirks doesn't display anything about Jump jets on the Highlanders

Looks like even the devs agree taking 6-8 T will be worthless once screen shake is in. They may as well have made this a pic of an Atlas.

But yeah, I know this is only a mockup and I really have to wait for the JJ thing to come in before I make a final judgement.
However this was a classic symbolic / subliminal affirmation of my doubts lol

Keep in mind, the numbers we see in these screenshots are like not correct/official values in many cases.

I do love the presentation of Mech quirks, in general. Thanks!

That was always the case in MWO... there have been discussions about this fact and why it makes zero sense.

nice job so far, but i have a couple of doubts:

1) will we be able to chenge our mechs names and rearrange then? if soo will this be free or will it cost c-bills/mc?

2) will we be able to "paint" our mechs before buying then so we can check the paint schemes for mechs we dont own?

Nice UI overhaul. Keep on with your awesome work!

However, I am missing some buttons:
  • Remove components
  • Remove armor
  • Full armor
Furthermore, it would be amazing to be able to save and load loadouts. Thus, two more buttons:
  • Save loadout
  • Load loadout

Yay for the quirks!

I do agree that combined display for torso/arm pitch/yaw is more informative - easier to compare mechs if you don't have to mentally keep adding the angles.

Good job on the quirks!

I would suggest either merging the arm/torso quirks, or displaying torso separately and including the torso twist in the arm information in different colour The information you need the most as a pilot is how much is the total twist range, not how much extra you get from arms, so you need to do the maths and visualizations in your head.

In ideal situation, it would be nice to have:
1. base mech data for comparison with mechs you don't own yet and
2. mech actual data, including your skills, for comparison between owned mechs.

Yes I know we can do the maths in our heads, but...

Best regards,
JoJoBird

The quirks thing is AWESOME.

Whats important to me - would be great to still be able to view my mech as I look at quirks, weapons, etc.

Being able to select a mech boy part and see how the side torso/(inert body part here) is shaped/located like we currently can when working on a mech body part.

Adjust colour of HUD for battles, R/G/B scale adjustments so instead of a yellow HUD I can run a green HUD in battles, etc.

all the new features of the new UI look fantastic.
