This isn't just a user interface update. It's more accurately called MWO 2.0. The current system is more of a proof of concept build that they extended as far as it feasibly can go.

multiplayer battletech 3025 was able to do the whole damn thing in less time than UI2.0 needed to lift off the ground.

oh and I'm pretty sure the Inner Sphere Map Screen went through 2 iterations with the upgrades being very well received.

If PGI actually wants us to stop making fun of them about being a craptastic game company, they should at least try to live up to the legacy that stood before them.

To clarify we're talking about a game that existed in a beta state in 2001 for less than a year. And it ran circles around MWO.

"UI 2.0

Is currently in design and will be executed before launch next year. Target Jan/Feb 2013."-Bryan Ekman (October 31, 2012) - http://mwomercs.com/...e-improvements/

....its been more than a year and this is all they have to show for it. ::sigh::

An update for those that are waiting for UI 2.0.

It won't be out this year (as many have speculated):
https://twitter.com/...232623147483138

Edit: Also, there might be one more final "alpha/beta" test of UI 2.0 on the Public Test servers before it goes live.
https://twitter.com/...250442618683392

Although, I think that's what he's referring to or implying.

Can you provide a screenshot or copypasta the verbiage? Can't get to the twits at work.

Sure. First link Russ says:
"BTW UI 2.0 is getting really close. I think we have a very strong chance of getting the first iteration released in January."

Second link: "I would expect at least one more Public Test"

Enjoy the first iteration of a buggy UI 2.0 next month...maybe.

Here's a fun link from Dec 09 2011: http://www.pcgamer.c...e-inner-sphere/

Quote

There will be three types of world in MechWarrior Online. Core Worlds will belong to the devs. Major story events will happen on these worlds, and they can't be claimed by players. Faction Worlds can be taken, though. "Rewards for controlling these planets are directly linked to global bonuses and abilities associated with a player’s Faction," write Piranha. They've also posted a huge map of the Inner Sphere. Here it is:
Posted Image

Winning matches will earn Loyalty Points with your chosen faction. This will get you rank up to get better units, skins and XP. These will decay over time if you're not active, and Piranha say that there will be ways to lose Loyalty Points. If you drop in rank, you stand to lose the items you've gained.

There will be a third type of a planet that Mercenary groups will be able to acquire through a contract bidding system. These planets will change ownership regularly as Mercenary groups rapidly outbid each other.

These rules have been established during the beta and Piranha say that they're subject to change before MechWarrior Online goes live in the second half of 2012.

Remember back at the start of November in the NGNG interview where Russ wanted three more tests before Christmas and was hoping to maybe even have it out by Christmas? And remember how they were determined to not release UI 2.0 unless it was stable and not full of bugs?

My, where did the time go! And how did the standards wither on the vine?

Oh the hypocrisy,

"YOU PROMISED US UI 2.0 By (insert date here)"
"But it's really not ready for prime time"
"NOPE, YOU PROMISED AND YOUR LATE!!! LIES!!!!!111!!!555!!!!"
"Sigh, Ok, but we're telling you it's not entirely ready"
"HOW DARE YOU RELEASE A BUGGY INTERFACE!!!"

It happens. Working as intended™.

At this point, unless it's Paul's balance posts, I take any other date with a grain of salt.

"But it's really not ready for prime time"

Most of the stuff that has been done never is. It never ceases to amaze me.

Quote

"NOPE, YOU PROMISED AND YOUR LATE!!! LIES!!!!!111!!!555!!!!"

It's always late, those are my continually lowered expectations.

Quote

"Sigh, Ok, but we're telling you it's not entirely ready"

One would hope it compiles with the majority of the feedback. I don't expect it to if anything.

Quote

"HOW DARE YOU RELEASE A BUGGY INTERFACE!!!"

:D

If it doesn't crash or malfunction more than 80 to 90% of the time (aka, not often), then we should be good. I expect it to be less stable than the pre-3fps MWO days though.

The only hypocrisy here is PGI saying it will probably be early and flawless, then shifting to late and buggy within one month's time.

There is no hypocrisy in expecting UI 2.0 to be delivered as described. It is not the playerbase that failed to develop UI 2.0 to spec and timeframe.

I can't believe I wrote "early" just then, because it's already been shoved back a year basically; I mean "earlier than 2014" instead f "earlier than 2013"

Nah, dude, you're just cranky.
The way you keep bringing stuff up reminds me of the guy who keeps calling his ex-gf to tell her what a horrible person she is.
I've read enough of you to know that nothing will ever make you happy in regards to PGI, even if you got EVERYTHING you wanted, you'd complain about how it didn't come soon enough, or that it's in the wrong color. You're the kinda person who would win the lottery and complain about having to pay taxes.

In short, **** or get off the pot.

And you know he will never be happy because we got so much of UI2.0 and CW and he was still unhappy?

That is probably the most accurate analogy I have ever heard on these forums.

It's not enough to have an airing of grievances. For him, Festivus is a year round event.

Has nothing to do with it, even if we had it, he'd keep recycling that old article about integrated VoIP, even though EVERYONE hated C3, he loves to waive it around as another broken promise.

But you cannot say it with certainty since we still haven't gotten anything. You are just making assumptions.

I don't know what's this about integrated VoIP since I didn't see him mentioning it in this thread (didn't go back far though) but C3 was NOT integrated VoIP. It was an outside client just like ts3/mumble/ventrilo...

The fun thing was Garth made a post in that thread, but I'm almost confident he hasn't used C3 in 2013.

Having to register for VOIP makes no sense. For IM, sure. For TS3/Vent, lol no.

STEAM STEAM STEAM...Please do not use SHIFT+TAB for anything in game or please make it re-mappable. If PGI doesn't want free advertising to the core game spending audience that is up to you, please don't ruin my, "launch all games from Steam cause I use it to chat with all my friends" shtick I have going.

I was just talking with my other Founder Buddy while we played a few matches that the UI needed some upgrading further and polishing. We both agreed. I haven't been on the forums much and was glad to see this thread and some of the proposed changes.

I read the UI2.0 Engineering thread and really appreciated the in-depth on the issues beyond visible design aspects. I know that after converting to 2.0 your back end will allow for faster and cleaner adjustments of all the variety everyone is sharing here with you. So I see that improvement as non-visible (for those that didn't read that post) but it actually makes it more likely that afterwards you will be able to be more flexible and able to change more about the UI, tweaking it to perfection as everyone wants.

I really want more content that just Arena battles. I have been pushing down my desire for Single Player Campaign, with Multi/Co-op drop ship joins in mission. I can't ignore this desire any longer.
^^This is a HUGE part of the MW world to me, either single player campaign or single storyline in Co-op mode. I feel like everything here is polishing the core of fighting and I am OK with that but I want the 'rest of the game' as my brain constantly thinks of it.

IF and thats a BIG IF, UI 2.0 shows up, it wont fix, Ghost heat, a lack of really game modes, CW, and the insane amount of lies the PGI has told us since 2011. Anyone dropping money on this game at this point has no one to blame but themselves.

Personally I think they should move this whole thing to steam but thats a totally different animal.
