Well, thanks.

The current UI is completely unusable for me. All the extra "work" to get anything done just annoys me.
I won´t list it again because the big flaws have been stated over and over again.

If a smurfy-esque mechlab is there in March, I may be playing in March.

"Completely unusable". All the naysayers have this terrible habit of being so dramatic about it. The UI is completely functional. It may not be pretty, but it gets the job done, and will only get better from here. So please, spare us this useless exaggeration. You're all acting as if the devs killed your mother or something.

There are legitimate criticisms to be made, but acting like this is some great travesty that means the game is now utter rubbish that should be thrown into a fire does nothing to make it better.

I had hoped that this community had a better understanding of how to be constructive with our criticism, to help the devs make the game better.

You simply drag the items off the location. To save changes, click "checkout" on the left.

I like:
That I can filter mechs.
You can set your firing tics before a match.
I can see what screen my friends and group mates are looking at
Mech saving time in mechlab no longer take 5 minutes if you have too many mechs.
Large scale views of my selected mech.

I don't like:

That it is not intuitive.
It takes too many clicks to do several actions which should be fairly simple.
You cant ready up in a group unless you are in the home screen, I should be able to ready up as long as I am not actively modifying a mech.
You have to select a match mode every time you group drops.
You still can't test a mech in he testing ground with out purchasing the design change.
Mechs still show up in odd purchase orders instead of grouping the chassis together.
The display of hard points which was so nice in UI 1.0 is gone
While in home screen there is no display of your mech stats or weaponry.
Finding which mech has a specific module on it is still difficult.
Consumable modules still are not auto purchased after used in battle as an option.
The 4 direction meh graph is complete meaningless fluff and firepower is not scaled correctly so if you were using it for some sort of information it makes ever mech look anemic where weapons are concerned.
You can send messages to people in battle and they get notice of a message but can never click to read it.
Heat rating is still useless as it still ignores the existence of ghost heat.
There still I no list of the total rounds o tons of ammo I have equipped on my mech.

Some more observations.

In the Mechlab the wording needs to be changed from 'Check Out' to something like 'Confirm Changes'. 'Check Out' has the connotation of a real money transaction which has and will confuse a lot of people... It confused the hell out of me at first.

Again in the Mechlab, in the weapons grouping section; an option to switch the preset of a particular weapon group between group-fire and chain-fire would be most welcome. In addition, listing items such as AMS etc is confusing and ultimately pointless. AMS for example does not require a weapon group, and its operation is automatic; completely independent of the pilot.. so why put it in there?

When choosing the battle mode, the option to tick multiple boxes for the modes you want to play should be there.. Happy to play Assault and Conquest but not Skirmish? Then just tick the the two modes you want and leave Skirmish unchecked.

The option to automatically replenish consumables should be in there. Speaking of which....

There is still a bug regarding consumed consumables showing up post match. Any attempt to replace results in a failure to save configuration... This needs to be addressed.

At present, UI 2.0 will not allow me to Alt/Tab out of the screen and take me to my Desktop if there is no other window open in the background. A temporary work around is to click on the statistics button which opens up a browser window to your MW:O website profile, allowing you to Alt/Tab out. Again.. this brings up something else...

Your in-game statistics should be able to be viewed in-game and not via the browser method currently employed. Granted it is a step in the right direction as it takes you where you need to go to much faffing about.. but the ability to view it in-game would be so much more polished, not to mention convenient.

The Social button REALLY needs to be made more obvious, rather than being the small icon seemingly tucked away as it is at the moment.

There are no doubt some other issues that need resolving but those are the ones that spring directly to mind at this time. That being said there are usually teething troubles with any new implementation.. MWO is by no means an exception.

This is because your graphics options have been reset. It has defaulted to "Full Windowed Mode".

Could the clicking become bit more economical.
I'm not sayin that my mousefinger can't deal with it, but 8 (eight) clicks (from 'HOME' page) to put an upgrade feels a bit excessive.

Also when making fast little changes to mech setup and forgettin to checkout, just clicking the conveniently always available PLAY NOW button, why are u given only choice to not save, or go back. WHy not put the CHECKOUT clicketyclick there? Like u know use this more evolved logic where is third option available?

Minor bug in the UI = in the skills tree list when you sort by Mech Weight.. and it shows the mechs.. the Hero mechs have an H and the Champion mechs Don't have a C. the same way they do in the mech lab.

After a few days I talked with my company and we worked out some points that we think should be adressed, mainly with the popup window in the mechlab which shows the details of the mech you hover with your mouse.

First: The engine size of the owned mechs is not showed. If you want to find out which engine you have in a mech you have to open the configuration. The pop up window shows the speed of the mech, but not the actual engine size.

Second: The same thing applies to the modules. It would be Great if the pop up window could show the equipped modules too.

Third: It does show which hardpoints are in the mech, but not where they are, i.e. right arm, left arm, and so on.

Gonna ignore the mech lab since it's just not done.

This UI requires WAY too much clicking. WAY, WAY too much.

And the current social stuff is bad, I really hope that's high on the list to update.

Look is fine. I hate how it scales on big screens though.

But it's definitely not intuitive.

I know its been said a few times all ready.. but..The core of mech building is the Engine Rating / and Size..
And PGI has died on the cross of a hard point system.. yet This UI doesn't even display that Info in a consistent manner..

The only way to see engine is to Configure the mech > load out > Center Torso.. (if that wasn't the engine your looking for.)
reverse and repeat the process..

And even in the Configure screen you still can't get an overall view of the Hard points..
I know your working on a "smurfys style" break out for the mechlab..

But the Stats list everywhere else needs changed to help us Modify the mechs or decide .. yes, that is the mech i want!

If you could do TWO simple thing please do this..

When i click on all Mechs, Mine or Otherwise.. Put the Base stats (speed / Structure / HS / ect. ) At the top of the Roll out.. Right under the Mechs Name.. Beside Speed / or just above the Hard point Break Down.. Put the Engine Size..
Make this one menu / pop up.. Some of the information is duplicated / Like endo steel, double Heat sinks .. Simplify it..

There is to much of the wrong information displayed at the wrong time..

If you want to Display the mech I have "Readied" all the time, and its Base stats at the bottom all the time.. then please..
Move the Mech up above that box.. (put it on a carrier platform / stand / what ever.. )
Make the Base Stats box bigger.. On my screen the Font is cut off the Speed is 3/4 showing.. (make that bigger)
And put an Engine rating in there.. E.I Speed : XL-350 129.6 / 86.3

But when i click on another mech to see the stats,, please make existing stats go away..

1 major flaw that i saw with the new UI is that the general info when you choose the mech are not available. These things listed here MUST be present when we choose our mech.

1. Engine size, and speed without speed tweak.
2. the weapon loadout of the mech << i cant believe you guys missed this out. getting into the mechlab and into the individual section is so tedious just to check the loadout. this info should be available when we choose the mech in the general screen.
3. No of heat sinks
4. No. of Jumpjets.

please do include this again.

Mung, I believe that phase happened some time ago. During the 3 PTS iterations there was plenty (I mean, loads and loads) of constructive feedback. And there was also some unjustified panic and exaggeration/denial, and that should have been taken into consideration in order to avoid in this release. What I mean is that, this could have been avoided.

ADD CONFIGURE BUTTON..
ADD PAINT BUTTON..
ADD READY BUTTON.. In case your in a Group..
ADD LAUNCH BUTTON.. in case your ready to STOMP...

Make it Bigger.. Spin the Mech Around slowly.. make it look sexy..

To do:
  • Remove unneccesary confirmation dialogs!
e.g.: Do I really have to confirm that I want a module in my mech, and then confirm again, when I check out?
  • Get actual selected mech stats to the home screen.
I want to see what is in there, when I log back in and don't have to go to the mechlab first.
  • Make modules section accessible from the home screen for the selected mech.
This is the probably most common task you do, when you have to refill consumables. Make it easier! Thats why we wanted UI 2.0 not to make things harder...
  • Make launch in selected mode available by one click again.
Before: select drop mode once, then you have to klick one single button to launch.
Now: Click launch button, select mode, select OK...
3 Clicks now vs. 1 Click in the old UI... seriously?!? - this is not making the UI better, but worse.
  • Make skill trees look like the hangar.
I don't want to play table warrior. Why do the skill trees not have the same look and feel as the mech hangar?
  • Get the number of heatsinks (and AMS, etc.) to the overview.
Yarrrn! It's just stupid to not have them any more, as these information were available...
  • Mech Overview: hardpoint locations.
Why can't I see the location of the hardpoints of my mechs in the overview? This is crucial information! Why isn't the zone highlighted any more, when you hover the hard point summary?
In general: LESS CLICKS IS BETTER in a user interface!!! Feels like the number of needed clicks has increased by a factor of 2-3 in general from UI 1.5 to UI 2.0. WHY? It's just anoying... (and please: let us turn of the mouse over button sound!)

Hate the new UI they made it worst than better. The only good thing about UI 2.0 is I don't have to scroll through my mechs. Other than that its a complete fail. Can't believe it took this long to release this new UI. I use to play mwo everyday but since the new UI came out I can't stand it anymore. Glad I haven't spent any money on this game since the phoenix package. Not spending a cent anymore until they fix this, bring CW, and bring Directx 11.

The new UI is pretty, I like most of it (you get used to it pretty fast) but the mechlab... nope. That's a mess, sorry.
I find it hard to believe that to this day "Smurfy" a website of all things... is still the best tool to plan your mech configuration. I'd like to see a feature where you just cut a "build code" from smurfy's and paste it to the mechlab and all the components, cost of modifications etc updates itself...

Why is smurfy's so much better?
it has clear numbers for everything. you know how much tonnage you have left in a big clear number, how many heatsinks you have, how many are missing. speed with and without speed tweek, How many available Crit slots you have, you know INFORMATION! that little panel at the bottom, should be much bigger and hold more useful numbers.
Posted ImagePosted Image
So is that speed with or without tweak?

Mechlab is pretty with all its icons and colourful clicky menus and such but its horrible on a functional level.

Please make the mech intractable instead of the Hangar spinner it currently is.
I miss my little mech figure with buttons on it.

The engine tab with 60-90 identical engine pictures in it, is a bit confusing.

The buttons and text does not scale to resolution and many of them are actually smaller then the old window mode UI at 1900*1200.

Looking forward to the Smurfy fit thingy, it gives allot better overview of the entire mech.
Its not sexy or in any way pretty, but its easy and fast. A weapon fire group selector directly on the weapon would make it perfect.

In combat it looks like the GPUes are cooler and they are less noisy, things like that is always welcome.
