Mate I don't think it's a bad idea. Why does something have to be 'canon' to be in a game? IT'S A GAME!!!
I don't see why Mech's can't be added just cause there cool?
I have been following the game for a while now and while I don't post very often, it doesn't make me less of a fan. I don't play the TT game and I don't read the books, I just like the Mechwarrior franchise and love the games it has spawned.
So I say why the hell not, it's a damn cool looking Mech' and well within the rules (i.e. It's balanced and fair).
Put it in the game guys.
Why does it have to be canon to be in the game? Because if not, then why call it MechWarrior? If you aren't going to bother sticking to a guideline, then why even bother calling it that?
Here's a brilliant idea, go to the Star Wars Old Republic forums and demand that the devs put the USS Enterprise from Star Trek in the game and see how it goes over. I mean, it's just a game after all.

Who said they can't speed up the timeline a bit and after a year or two we are at the year 3070 and they can start making their own canon and keep the game fresh? I won't wait real life 20 years for it by then I can download my own crytek engine and model it myself...>_>
Do it then. The devs will do what the devs will do, but they sure as heck aren't going to put something that doesn't exist for 30+ years and shouldn't even exist in the first place in the game.
