The Slow Credit-Earning Rate Is Losing Money For Mwo

It takes much too long to earn credits.

So long, that its turning away players from MWO or causing the ones who stay to just make multiple accounts (to reap the starting acct bonus).

I understand this is f2p but, unlike games like swtor, we're not given the option if buying a sub or the full game.

After the initial starting boost is over, the credit earning grinds to a near-halt. Its becomes too time consuming, tedious, and actually takes a lot of fun out of the game.

I was excited to spend real $$ on an atlas, then I realized how BAD an investment that would be. I'd have this brand new shiny mech and I'd have to play 3 hours straight to afford one single piece of equipment for him. Seriously devs?

I love the game but come on - this is ridiculous. I was willing to spend $30-$40 but you lost me, MWO.

I just made a new acct on a separate email and boom - now it's fun again because I actually earn credits at a commensurate rate. I expect soon ill make a third email acct soon because I'm going to want to buy my 3rd mech soon.

This game would make more money by offering a more reasonable, enhanced credit-earning rate to all players. It would make the idea of spending real cash much more comfortable, knowing that you could fully outfit your real-cash-bought mech after a reasonable amount of play time.

Note that I play the game with friends and many of them echo these thoughts, along with many of the players I meet and chat with in-game.

Premium time.

I always play with it.

I have 29 mechs, all tricked out (most of them mastered). Apart from 2 hero mechs I have not bought a single one for real money.

Premium time makes the grind easy - I would not want to play without it.

If you find yourself enjoying the game consider a month of premium (the smaller amounts are not good value). Makes grinding cash and levelling mechs much more fun.

Well, it's about $11 a month, and, honestly, if you could earn some MC or some Mech bays while under Premium time, I would go for it.

As it is, the XP isn't worth it and the CBills are barely worth it if I can't play for a week. If we could PAUSE it every 3 days or something, that would be great. This way, folks who work, like myself and have a family, like myself can take a break without 'burning time'.

My 2cp.

You and all your friends should buy Premium time... effectively similar to the New Player bonus. I think it is like $8 for a month.

Premium gives you 50% bonus. Currently you get ~100k per win making that 150 w premium. It's still pretty far from the beginner bonus and still not a very large. But yes, it's better than nothing.

Look at it this way... this is day 10 for me. I've purchased 2 Spiders, 2 Trebuchets, 1 Dragon. I've upgraded the Dragon and 1 TBT. Sold both the Spiders, collected about 1219210 Medium Lasers. Is it easy making CBills? No not particularly. Is it easier than grinding rats or mining 'roids? Oh hell yes!

Go for the low hanging fruit first like Endo-Steel. Never buy Ferro-Fibrous. Only get those DS heatsink upgrades if this is a chassis you are sticking with for a bit. As for XL... still haven't bought one.

I'm curious if the premium account adds the 50% to the new starter bonus? If so that would be enticing for me to sign up for it

AFAIK Cumulative bonus so 100% for the first 25 matches... plus the XP bonus. It would be ummmmm very accelerating to the start. Losses would be like 100k, Wins 300k. Shooting stuff a bonus!

Yes. Premium time stacks with other bonuses as well.

Just fork over $15 and buy a month of premium time if you want to rack up c-bill and xp quickly. Think of it as a month to month sub.

At any rate, even without paying for premium you can grind money and xp MUCH faster than most other MMOs out there.

Also, 'Mechs are not usually referred to as "him" — they are mechanized armored vehicles like tanks, not robots or sim pets.

So you want top tier stuff right away? Buy a mech with MC and sell it for C-bills. The grind is what it is, every other player has to do it. You are not entitled to anything. If you do not have the attention span to grind up to upgrade your mech, you probably do not have what it takes to be a MechWarrior. Go play Hawken.

SUCH A HOTHEADED REPLY LOLEOELOEOOLE

The grind is so frustrating, it almost makes you want to pay for premium right?

Welcome to Forced2Pay gaming

to be fair MWO is way more generous than many F2P titles, like WoT\WarThunder are criminally slow grinds even with premium

I suppose it was, but whiner threads bring out that side of me. The only premium time I have ever used was the free day PGI gave us in February. I started before the cadet bonus, and I currently have 210,000,000 C-bills after mastering (w/ module slot) nine different chassis. It can be done.

I could never stand to play without premium, but wasted a ton recently, because the game became hugely unfun with the current AlphaStrike Meta

kudos for 200 million, how many hours logged?

prolly best they don't track that stat

As a player, I agree with you, but you have to realize that if there is no grind then there is no future for this kind of game .

Hell, there are already nerve-dead people who can grind through the boredom and have millions of c-bills stocked up.

I have played a couple of hours almost every day since open beta. I am playing less now since the Gauss/ERPPC spam sniper meta has become the FOTM. It has gotten to be less fun.

No need to get aggressive. I wasn't whining, this is a suggestion thread forum and I'm suggesting that making the grind a bit easier may actually increase the $$ people spend on MC because they'll have an easier time supplementing mech equipment with in-game credits.

And while you might have fun spending 6+ hours a day grinding out 200 mil credits with no premium time, I don't think that represents the norm of players. A smart business tries to cater to everyone, but if it cant it starts with the majority and works its way down. Hence the reason for my suggestion post in the suggestion forum: It might be a smart business decision for MWO to consider making the grind easier for the majority crowd that can't devote that kind of time, because it might actually attract that majority crowd into buying more MC.

"6+ hours a day"? Who said that? The suggestion sounds like whining to me. You seem to think people will not play if they cannot max out everything in a month.

You just need to hire at least 2 people to grind for you so you can get the most out of every second of premium time.

I tend to play about 1-2 hours a night. Often less, sometimes more.

I spent a bit for some premium, maybe about a month and a half's worth.

I waited for sales and changed my mech XP into GXP for a little more MC.

I bought a couple of hero-mechs that I liked--which incidentally, are not my top C-bill earners, but still fun.

I started playing in November last year, and I have 35 chasses mastered. Compared to the grind in a lot of other F2P games, I find that quite reasonable, especially since I actually had fun during most of it.
