Microsoft sold the license to make a mechwarrior game to Jordan Weissman, the original Battletech/FASA guy.

However, I'm not sure how extensive that licensing agreement was.. it may have been limited to only making a mechawarrior game on the Windows platform, or something like that.. although I believe it covered "electronic entertainment rights" which would possibly extend to making mechwarrior (or shadowrun, or the crimson skies, or any of the other FASA products he licensed back) on any electronic platform he wanted.

They already talked about this in some of the earlier dev interviews. They have a license from MS that allows them to do Windows, Xbox, and mobile platforms. They couldn't get a publisher to go along with the original idea for a single player mechwarrior game because they all wanted to release on at least 2 consoles to justify the investment.

Yes Yes Yes i died to when i played my first Mechassault game on xbox thats because my 10 year old son kicked my aaassss all over the place because i could not use a xbox controller. But as the weeks went by i got the hang of it and was pleased as well as my son to play matches and kick each others bbbuutt. So we bought Mechassault 2 and played that game also.I cant tell you all the hours of fun we had and he went on to play on PC with me in Mechwarrior4 vengeance and Mercenaries. So i don't think a Xbox version to link to the PC servers is all that bad of a idea. There are many dads that would love to play against there own kids PC VS Xbox. :P

please don't call us consumers. calling us consumers implies you think us unable to make our own purchase choices and that we'll mindlessly shovel anything into our faces. One who buys services or goods is a customer, not a consumer.

a consumer would be someone that shovels down madden or call of duty games, because they keep making reskins of the same game and the same idiots keep buying them over and over, and I don't like to be compared to your typical ea or activision fan because unlike them I have a quality standard I adhere to and like to think that my choices are intelligently made to the best of my abilities and not just "OOOH BIDEOGAMES OM NOM SHINY GRAPHI oh you know what? just watch this

if by "a blast" you mean spouting mind numbingly boring and useless information with side orders of "insulting" and "he doesnt know when to shut up" then yes. If I made a statistic up for this subject I would say only 5% of anything I've ever said is entertaining. well either that or i've got a bad sense of humor.

I fail to see what you're talking about unless you're getting upset that I donwntalk abusive companies for stepping on customers, but I was under the impression that "establishment" meant government, more particularly a visible dominant group that holds authority or power in a nation, and I don't recall ever downtalking the united states government- in fact on that note the fact that you would relate establishment with mega corporations is disturbing. no company holds power or authority over me. I would care for an elaboration on what you mean but would prefer you take it to messages and keep it out of this otherwise fantastic thread before the mods show up

This just proves you have no concept of how the world actually functions. I can think of two off the top of my head that you aren't buying products from, you don't work with directly and still impact your life everyday. I could prolly come up with another 20 or 30 that effect your life is less meaningful but still important ways.

Back on Topic: E3 looked great, looking forward to more info being released soon!

but that's because I choose to let them impact my life and they're certainly not telling me what I can and can't do, especially a game company.

I'm not denying that opting to live in a modern society means that companies will be involved whether you want them to or not, but their income is directly dependent on their ability to function properly and not step on their customers with irrational demands akin to hostage taking. of course then we come to corporations like central banks and oil conglomerates who basically own society, but even they don't dare tread too far. the way the world is set up you can make a great deal of money and control quite a bit of people unknowingly to them if you don't poke a bees nest. people are surprisingly willing to tolerate quite a bit until it infringes upon their perceived personal rights, but I digress.

The only reason mega corporations exist is because their existence is tolerated so long as they serve their intended purpose- or at least how it should be, "give me money because i'm too big to fail" is a funny joke that needs to stop being told.

So essentially what you said was that you don't know how the world works again?

so you care enough to tell me I'm wrong but somehow not enough to explain why? and you wonder why I'm not taking the "Worst. Programmer. EVER." seriously!

Believe me, I've tried explaining this to people like you. It doesn't go well. They usually can't separate themselves from the fantasy world in their head where corporations are absolute evil and the government is controlled by businesses.

ah but to call them evil would mean that one places stock in a binary morality system. there really isn't such a thing as evil unless we're talking mentally disturbed psychopaths and even then it's a medical issue not some "got the demon in ya" claptrap.

and government is controlled by big businesses because they spend billions on lobbyists and other deals(not to mention the federal reserve itself is a private company). only when something is political suicide do politicians turn down easy money, and who wouldn't, right? it's not like anybody really cares as long as they have a roof over their heads and food for their families, and maybe some financial security and peace of mind

but I digress, If I'm so wrong why not prove it instead of deflecting the issue? It only implies you know nothing, and if you're who I think you are It's completely understandable at your age to "know everything".

My beta key is still pending when will it tell us if were accepted or denyed the beta key? Will we get an email? Huge mechwarrior fan by the way loved mechwarrior4 vengeance, and mech mercenaries. I also played mech assualt on x-box but it wasnt as good as the pc versions, I think microsoft should have stuck to PC games when it came to games like this. They said mechwarrior4 was free released also still having a hard time buying/or download the game.... Can't wait till the release of a new mechwarrior game

GameSpy might have given MWO a "Best of Show" award via here.

But their recent post on their site seems to have omitted any mention of the game.

The missing part of the "Best of Show" picture is shown here. It is the "Nominee" title on the bottom of the "Best of Show" sign. That also explains why the game isn't in the GameSpy article.
